I didn’t panic. I knew if I panicked, I would be clumsy and not think straight.

A bright white light appeared on both my hands’ fingertips. I was making use of my light magic.

Placing my fingertips on both sides of my eyes, my vision increased incredibly, compared to the last time I had done it.

I turned around, and my eyes looked around the entire living room, but I couldn’t find Anders. The bright light in my fingertips increased tremendously after I channeled more light magic from the small white shining ball.... The source and core of my light powers, which was within me.

Because of what I did, I could see through the walls. I stopped turning around as I locked on to some weird-looking figure. As I focused my gaze there, I saw Anders.

He was being dragged away by a beast that was exuding a dark aura.

Even standing right here, I could tell that the foul smell I had been perceiving belonged to the beast.

"Stay here, Fireball and Irving!". I said to them and flew towards the stairs.

"Mama! Pikabo! We-!".

I heard a voice.

Although it was a childish voice, I could tell that the voice belonged to Fireball.

But, I didn’t stop to hear what he was saying.

My swords appeared in my hands.

Instead of gathering my swords’ energy into both swords, I filled the swords with my light magic and the swords began to glow red.

"Yah!!!". I let out a loud shout as I struck and brought down the wall that led to other rooms.

After the wall collapsed, and after the dust that filled the air dispersed, I jumped across the destroyed wall and entered the room.

The beast that was dragging Anders glanced at me.

When it saw that I was gaining on it, it put Anders on its shoulder and jumped out of the building through the glass windows.

The sharp sound of glasses shattering and landing on the floor, and the loud scream of horror from Anders, echoed in the room, but even still, I made the swords in my hands disappear before I flew out of the window and flew after the beast while the glasses were still shattering.

As I got closer to the beast who had landed on the ground and had begun to run away with Anders, I stretched out my right hand and grabbed onto Anders’ leg.

"Let go of him this instant you smelling freak!". I said to the beast and had to hold my breath most of the time.

The smell of the beast was so bad that I felt like fainting.

"N-o".

I subconsciously let go of Anders’ leg as I stopped flying and landed on the ground, before I froze.

The beast stopped running too. It stood many feet away from me.

Staring at the beast that was standing on its two feet like humans and had muscular hands, I began to imagine, ’Did that thing just talk?’.

I looked at it closely and could definitely tell that it was a hybrid creature. It has two horns on its head, and its teeth and fangs are tiny. Its face was hideous, just like its fellow hybrid creatures and wild beasts.

This must be the beast responsible for what Bella is going through and the strange bite mark I found on her left leg.

But in all my years as a certified doctor, I have never heard of stories about any wild beasts biting someone to the point that the person’s entire health would deteriorate.

The only things I saw with my eyes as a certified doctor were the injuries of the soldiers who were rushed to the hospital to get treated after being badly bitten by the wild beasts. And back then, that only led to most of the soldiers’ legs and hands being amputated. But other than that, they didn’t get sick like Bella, who looked pale like a vampire and was on the verge of death.

So, does that mean that the hybrid creatures could make a person’s health deteriorate with just a bite? I know that they are stronger than the wild beasts, but if all of them are capable of doing something like this, then the world is more than in chaos.

"H-e mi-ne. Blood sce-nts sw-eet". The beast said to me, making me puzzled for the second time.

’What the heck?! Since when can savage beasts like them talk?!’

’I don’t know, Elektra. Can’t you see that I’m as surprised as you? It’s a miracle that President Michael’s entire family was not killed by this hybrid creature. Gosh, I can’t even imagine it. They had absolutely no idea that a hybrid creature was living under the same roof as them’. I replied to her and my eyes widened when the hybrid creature dropped Anders’ on the ground and grabbed Anders’ neck before Anders could escape from it.

It took its other hand that had revealed its claws and positioned it on Anders’ neck.

"Hey!". I yelled at it and its bloodthirsty face stopped looking at Anders and focused on me. "Don’t you dare hurt him". I warned the hybrid creature.

"Blood. Mi-ne. Sw-eet. Thirs-ty". The hybrid creature said.

I gritted my teeth and disappeared to the hybrid creature’s back.

But before I could do anything to it, it escaped me and stood at the exact same place I was standing some seconds ago.

’So fast!’. I thought.

’No. This won’t do. If I disappeared to its front this time and did not act fast, its exposed claws might slit Anders’ throat and kill him. And if I make it levitate from the ground, it’s also going to be disadvantageous if he doesn’t let go of Anders. What should I do? I have never fought a hybrid creature that can dodge my attack very fast. I have to think quickly!’. I thought to myself again and was already starting to panic.

Any wrong move and the hybrid creature would end Anders’ life.

This was not what I had intended to happen when I decided to take Anders to the human cities with me.

Suddenly, I gasped a little bit after realizing the power I could use to fight against it.

’What is it, Clara?’.

’I didn’t plan to use my powers of destruction today, Elektra, but I have to use one of them. My manipulation power can do the trick. The last time I used my manipulation power to unlock our balcony’s door, it didn’t feel like a big deal to me after I used it. Maybe it is because my manipulative power skills are not dangerous compared to my firepower and black magic’. I said to Elektra. Deep down I was hoping that I was not deceiving myself. But, what other choice do I have?

I took a deep breath. Fixing my gaze on the hybrid creature, my red eyes began to glow, and my voice echoed as I said to it, "Obey my order. Leave the boy".

Like a robot, the hybrid creature’s body stiffened since it was being controlled by me. It let go of Anders, and in a hurry, Anders ran to my side and hid behind me.

"I- I want to become stronger". I heard Anders saying this as he panted fast.

"Now, take out your own heart and end your life". I commanded it.

The hybrid creature pierced its left chest using its claws and didn’t even groan. It removed its heart from its chest and bowed to me as it showed the heart to me, before it collapsed on the floor with its heart and died.

’Why did it bow to me?’. I wondered, but didn’t think much about it. Now that it is dead, I could study its body and use its body to make a cure for Bella. After all, it must have been the one who had bitten Bella’s leg and made her sick.

Anyway, I placed my hand on my chest as I tried to calm my heart that was pounding against my chest.

I didn’t know why my heart was pounding so fast, like I had run a marathon.

"Alpha Anastasia, are you alright? I sensed and saw dark smoke coming out of your body as you used your power. Is that supposed to happen?". Anders asked me as he came and stood in front of me.

I hadn’t replied to him yet, and he kept a sad and disappointed expression on his face. He lowered his head and said to me, "I am sorry for being weak and useless, Alpha Anastasia. I couldn’t fight back or do anything to save myself. I promise to get stronger under your guidance and repay you for saving my life".

I didn’t reply to Anders and focused on what I was doing. Before I knew it, I succeeded in calming my heart.

Maybe I was feeling this way because I had never used my manipulation power to kill something.

I thought that everything was over, but I was absolutely wrong. "Anders-". I couldn’t finish my words and I felt a sharp pain in my head before my mind became blank, like it was completely covered by a dark cloud.

I could not know myself anymore.

Like a mindless freak, I grabbed Anders’ throat, lifted him off the ground, and began to strangle him.

’Clara, are you alright?! Can’t you see that you are killing him?! You are killing Anders! Wake up!’. Elektra shouted at me and my eyes instantly widened as I realized what I was doing.

I let go of Anders, and he fell on the ground and began to cough uncontrollably with his hands touching his bruised neck.

"Get - get away from me, Anders! Hide!". I yelled at him after realizing that I was about to lose control of myself again.

’Quick! Give me control of our body, Clara! Your powers of destruction have backfired against you, right?! Whatever is controlling you will not be able to control me, since I can’t use any of your powers!’. Elektra said to me.

I shut my eyes as I tried to give Elektra control, but it was too late.

I had become a mindless freak again, and was glaring at Anders, who flinched and began to drag himself away from me after he saw me glaring at him and walking towards him.
