Mr Bodyguard, Protect Your Heart!-Chapter 175: CAN WE BE LIKE BEFORE?

"Yes, Mr Noah? What did you want to talk to me about?" Dove asked standing In front of him. And now that they were here, Noah felt his throat go dry. "It is actually about..." Suddenly, he couldn’t find right words, and his closed and opened his mouth like a goldfish.

Dove nodded her head, and waited for him to speak, but even after some thirty or so seconds passed, but he was still hesitating.

Dove pressed her lips feeling a little impatient and said, "Mr Noah,-" But before she could say anything, Noah cut into her words and taking a deep breath said, "Dove, I don’t know how to say it, but," Dove frowned and after a few seconds said, "Mr Noah, either you decide first, if you want to say it now or not. And if you don’t want to, please let’s talk another time. I have to go home to, and I am already late."

And just when she turned, Noah blurted out, "Dove, can we be like before?"

Dove who had already turned around to walk away, halted, her eyes slowly going wide as she processed what she just heard.

Then slowly turned around, she looked at Noah with a stunned expression and said in a loud whisper, "What- What did you say?"

Noah gulped, before he slowly said in a soft voice, "Dove, can we be like before?"

This time, Dove chuckled and blinked her eyes a couple of times. "What did you say? Like before?"

Seeing her react in that way, the little hopeful smile that had appeared on Noah’s face vanished again, as he sensed the subtle mocking tone in her voice.

He had been wanting to say this all this time, infact, for years. But he never got the guts. But today, he finally found the courage and asked her. And now he couldn’t go back.

Slowly nodding his head, he said, "Yes, Dove. Like before. Let’s be friends like before?"

And this time, Dove giggled, she shook her head slightly and said, " Mr Noah? Do you even remember properly what we were like before? Because all I can remember of is a blur memory."

On hearing her say it like that, Noah felt his heart pang bitterly. This was exactly what he was afraid of confronting when he decided to tell this to her.

Years ago, when he decided to make his distance from her, he had not imagined it for once that not only would he fail miserably in it, but also, fall in love with her all over again even badly.

Only if he had known years ago, that Dove doesn’t believe to keep up with the society’s norms and doesn’t care for them, then maybe he would not have let her distance herself from him. He would have kept her stuck to his side all those years making her reply on him.

But the time was gone, and what he could only do right now was tu rectify it.

Right now, Dove looked at Noah with a thousand emotions swirling in her eyes, and she did not even know which one overpowered the others.

What was she feeling? Was she feeling angry? Sad? Did she want to cry? Or did she want to laugh in redicule?

She should be angry as Noah proposed this, and honestly, she was even! She was actually very angry!

But then she looked at them, and her heart couldn’t help but clench painfully.

How could it not? After all, this man was someone she had grown up with. He was her closest family at one time.

She had relied on him so much, and looked up to him. He was her older brother after all! For months, she had hoped that, whatever that was going on between them turns out to be just a misunderstanding, a bad dream. And one day, she would wake up, to find that everything was fine between them. And Noah would say these same words that he just told to her that, "Let’s be like before." Dove stared at Noah, who stood in front of her looking at her hopefully, his eyes pleading.

In all honesty, Dove found it to be quoter absurd. And she could help but laugh at the situation. Then looking at Noah, she tilted her head slightly, her eyes betraying her emotions. Though, she wanted to act very unbothered, but the hurt and emotions in her eyes could not be hidden. And she asked, "You want us to be like before, Mr Noah? But why now? Why after all these years? It is almost about to be a seven years now, that you had changed. With no words, with no explanation. Just over night!" 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

Dove stopped and took a deep breath, and she felt her breathing shake a little, but she did her best to hold in her emotions.

Then looking straight into his eyes said, "You did not bother to provide me with any explanation, no words, nothing. It was as like you were right in front of me, but you never saw me! Is this how someone treats a family?! Is this how a brother would treat his little sister?! Because if that is so, then even my younger self would wish that I never had a brother!"

Noah felt like a thunder had stuck him, hearing her say those words simply like that. But at the same time, he also couldn’t bring himself up to say something against it, because inside his heart, he very well knew that whatever she was saying, he deserves it.

"Did you ever think about me at that time, Noah? Did you ever feel how lonely must i have felt?" And as Dove said those last words, no matter how much she held herself tightly, a tear escaped her eyes.

All these years, whenever Dove had thought about her broken relationship with Noah, her heart would be filled with disappointment and anger, and she always thought that if someday comes that Noah addresses that, and apologizes, like he did today, then she would just coldly turn him down. She would just show him that neither his absence matters, nor does what he did affect her anymore.

But now that it was finally happening, she seemed to fail.
