Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar-Chapter 29: So Many Women Want to Be with You, They Can’t Even Get in Line
He had something to hold over her head. If she didn’t suck up to him, she wouldn’t even know what hit her.
"So, you’re saying you like me?" 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Nora Ainsworth froze. ’He said "like," not "love,"’ she thought immediately. ’Besides, how could I possibly like a man who uses both threats and enticements to control me?’
That was what she thought, but reality was merciless.
"Like you? Of course I like you! While I admit I can’t fall in love with you right now, and I’m self-aware enough to know you won’t fall in love with me either, you’re such an outstanding person! You’re handsome, your family is rich, a total diamond bachelor, a gilded tycoon! You said it yourself, there are so many women who want to be with you they can’t even get in line. What did I ever do to deserve—"
Her voice trailed off.
Because for Nora Ainsworth, uttering those words felt like a violation of her morals and conscience—even though everything she said was the truth.
Quentin Grant’s mood inexplicably improved, and his tone was noticeably lighter.
He reached out and ruffled her hair. "Very good. Come to my place tomorrow night."
With that, Quentin Grant stood up and left.
Nora Ainsworth watched his back disappear behind the withered trees until he vanished from sight.
She shivered, then went upstairs to bed.
It started snowing in the middle of the night. At first, the snow wasn’t heavy, but by the time she woke up, the flakes had started to grow larger.
Nora Ainsworth went to class wearing a white puffer jacket. Her schedule for the day was mostly self-study.
The day passed in a blur. Holding an umbrella and bundled up in a mask, hat, and scarf, she headed to Quentin Grant’s residence.
Before she even went inside, she spotted a yellow Lamborghini parked out front.
She glanced at the door, then folded her umbrella and opened it to go inside.
The walkway had been swept clean. You could tell a servant swept it at regular intervals.
When she reached the door, she saw a devilishly handsome man sitting on the sofa. He had blond hair and a sparkling blue diamond earring in his left ear.
Nora Ainsworth recognized him. He was the A-list star, Ethan Ellsworth.
Her gaze shifted to his side, where a very young woman was sitting. She looked extremely tense, not daring to move a muscle.
The sound of footsteps echoed on the wooden staircase. Nora Ainsworth looked up to see Quentin Grant descending in a set of loungewear. Seeing her, he arched an eyebrow. "Are you just going to stand there playing dumb? Get in here."
Nora Ainsworth came inside and changed her shoes. The living room was toasty and warm.
Ethan Ellsworth let out a whistle, his tone flirtatious. "And who is this pretty little lady? What’s her relationship with our Young Master Grant?"
Nora Ainsworth looked to Quentin Grant. She truly didn’t know what to say. It all depended on him. If she said the wrong thing, she could forget about going home tonight.
Quentin Grant crossed his legs, then pulled Nora Ainsworth into his embrace with one arm. "My new flame."
Those three words defined their relationship.
Ethan Ellsworth nodded knowingly, his eyes flashing with shocked excitement. "Quentin, you’ve finally—"
Quentin Grant held up a hand to stop him. "I’m glad to see you’re so happy for me. That sets my mind at ease. But don’t you dare breathe a word of this to anyone. Otherwise... you know the consequences."
Ethan Ellsworth nodded eagerly. "Got it, got it. So you’re trying to keep a lover hidden away in a golden cage, huh?"
With that, he turned to his young assistant, Chloe Marshall. "You keep your mouth shut, too. Otherwise, your job is on the line."
Chloe Marshall nodded hurriedly. "Boss Ellsworth, I understand."
