Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 257: I’m Your Big Sister
Chapter 257: Chapter 257: I’m Your Big Sister
Stephanie pushed his hand away. "I can do it myself."
"Are you hungry? Thirsty?" Daniel asked, still trying to be patient.
"I want water. Thank you," Stephanie replied in a cold tone.
Ashton immediately handed over a bottle of purified water. Daniel opened the cap and handed it to her.
But Stephanie didn’t drink it. Instead, she turned and gave the bottle to Chantelle.
"Mommy, drink some water," she offered.
"Thank you, baby." Chantelle took a sip, then asked Stephanie to drink some too. After that, she handed the bottle to Daniel.
Daniel took a big sip with a happy look on his face.
Stephanie frowned and looked away, clearly annoyed.
Suddenly, Chantelle’s phone rang. It was a call from Calvin. Her heart was pounding heavily as the call got connected.
"Calvin, how is Rai?" she asked quickly.
Everyone in the car turned to look at her, holding their breath.
"Ms. Chantelle, we’ve rescued Railer. He’s a bit hurt, but it’s nothing serious. Don’t worry. I’ll take him back to Western Hill Villa now," Calvin said.
"Okay, Calvin. Thank you for everything," Chantelle replied, finally feeling relieved.
Suddenly, Stephanie grabbed the phone from her.
"Uncle Calvin, it’s me, Steph."
"Steph? When did you get back to Easthan?"
"Let’s not talk about that now. Let my little brother talk to me," Stephanie said.
Kane often mentioned Railer, but Stephanie had never met him.
From what Kane said, Railer was smart and well-behaved.
There was some rustling on the other end.
Then, a child’s voice came through the phone.
"Hello, I’m Railer."
"Hello, I’m your big sister Stephanie. Kane and I are triplets with you. Did you know that?"
"I do now. But Mommy told me I’m the oldest. That makes me your big brother," Railer said proudly.
"Forget that. Just tell me, are you hurt?" Stephanie brushed off his words.
Railer let out a helpless sigh.
They were definitely siblings. Stephanie was just like Kane.
"I’m fine. Are you, Kane, and Mommy okay?" Railer asked.
His face showed no emotion, just like Daniel’s, but he really cared.
When he saw Chantelle and Kane fall from the glass plank road, it felt like his blood turned cold.
He couldn’t imagine losing them.
At that moment, all he could think about was how much he wanted to make Joseph pay.
"We’re all fine. We’re on our way home. We’ll see each other soon. I got a gift for you," Stephanie said, lowering her voice like it was a secret.
Kane couldn’t hold back anymore. He leaned over and tried to grab the phone.
"Let me talk to Rai. Rai, are you hurt? Did you pee your pants when you got scared?"
"Kane, can you act your age? Rai’s hurt and needs to rest," Stephanie ranted, then ended the call immediately.
"You talked so much! I wanted to talk to Rai too!" Kane complained and pouted his lips.
"I was talking about something important. You’re not like me."
"Hmph. What gift did you prepare for him anyway? I never gave him a gift. Hey, you’ve never given me one either!"
"This is a meeting gift. When I first met you, I was still a baby. How could I give you a gift?" Stephanie said. Honestly, she would rather give Kane two slaps.
"That’s true. I need to think about what to give Rai, too," Kane muttered as he rubbed his chin and turned around.
Stephanie let out a proud snort. She was sure Railer would love the gift she picked.
Daniel watched the two of them argue. The more he looked at Stephanie, the more he adored her.
Look at my daughter! How sensible she is! She even thought of bringing a first-meeting gift for Rai, he thought proudly.
"Don’t look at me! Your eyes are too creepy," Stephanie suddenly said when she caught Daniel staring at her warmly. She quickly turned her head and felt embarrassed.
Daniel chuckled. "Did you prepare a meeting gift for me too?"
"I did at first," Stephanie said, resting her chin on her hand with a mischievous look. "But now, I’m not so sure if I want to give it to you."
Chantelle noticed Stephanie’s playful expression and knew she was up to something.
"Daddy’s an adult. He doesn’t need gifts," Chantelle quickly answered for Daniel with a clear warning in her voice.
"Chantelle, I do need it," Daniel replied, looking at her with hopeful eyes.
"No, you don’t need it," Chantelle stared at him seriously, hoping he’d catch what she meant. She was trying to protect Daniel. She knew he’d regret it if he accepted Stephanie’s so-called gift.
"No, I need it." Daniel insisted. It was the first gift Stephanie would ever give him. She was finally meeting her dad after six years and he wanted to keep her gift.
"Daniel, Steph is just a kid. Don’t play along with her too much." Chantelle rubbed her temple.
But Daniel waved his hand and boldly said, "Steph, you can be as naughty as you want. I’ll always be on your side."
"Okay! I’ll bring you a gift tomorrow!" Stephanie’s eyes sparkled like black grapes.
Chantelle looked at Daniel with pity, then shook her head.
Soon, they arrived at Western Hill Villa. The moment the car door opened, Kane grabbed Stephanie’s hand and ran inside with her.
"Kane, slow down. Steph might fall." Daniel followed behind them, looking worried like an old man.
"Relax," Chantelle said as she pulled his arm. "They’re always like that."
Daniel frowned. "Like that? Steph is sweet and well-behaved. How can you call her wild?"
So, just because Steph is his daughter, no matter how playful she is, he still sees her as a gentle little girl?
"Okay, Steph isn’t wild. I’m the wild one," Chantelle said as she pulled her hand away.
Daniel leaned closer and wrapped his arms around her waist. He smiled. "So you’re finally admitting you’re a seductive wild cat?"
"Daniel, stop it! I never tried to seduce you!" Chantelle’s face turned red. The servants were all watching at them.
"Then I guess you’ve been teasing me without even knowing it." Daniel’s desire for her grew stronger. He suddenly lifted Chantelle into his arms.
Just then, Kane’s scream echoed from inside the villa.
The intimate atmosphere between them vanished instantly. They rushed to Railer’s room on the second floor. But when they got there, only Kane was inside.
Daniel suddenly felt panic. He quickly called Ashton. "Search the whole villa! Don’t let anyone leave!"
"Hold on!" Chantelle noticed Kane’s strange expression. She sensed something was off.
Ashton had just been through a fire and must be exhausted. It wasn’t a good idea to disturb him now.
