Chapter 296: Chapter 296: Why Is She Crying?

Daniel gave him a sharp look. "You think she wants to be with other men?"

"Oh! No, no. That’s not what I meant," Philip quickly said. "I meant no other man could ever compare to you. Chantie has always belonged to you and she always will."

After leaving Daniel’s bedroom, Chantelle walked out of Silver Crest Global District and headed straight to Thea’s shop.

But when she arrived, the place was packed. Customers and reporters filled the shop. Last night’s show was a huge success.

Thea was swamped. She didn’t even have a moment to talk to Chantelle.

"Oh, I’m so sorry..."

Someone suddenly bumped into Chantelle from behind.

"Ms. Parker? You’re here to buy something?"

The person who had bumped into Chantelle was Shiela Parker, Jude’s secretary.

"Oh, I’m here to pick up Mr. Jude’s suit," Shiela said, forcing a smile.

Jude had been giving her a hard time lately. He kept assigning her tasks every single day.

When Chantelle heard that, her heart skipped a beat. She suddenly remembered that Daniel was going to the charity dinner tonight too.

Daniel had told Chantelle he didn’t have a proper suit for the event, and she promised to get one for him. But now, she realized she had completely forgotten about it.

"Ms. Chantelle, are you here to pick up Mr. Wilson’s suit too? It’s too crowded inside. Why don’t I help you get it instead?" Shiela quickly offered. She liked Chantelle and wanted to lend a hand when she saw how busy the shop was.

But Chantelle hadn’t ordered anything from Thea. What was she supposed to say to Shiela?

"Let’s get inside through the back door," Chantelle said, leading her to the shop’s side entrance.

Soon, Shiela found Jude’s suit and packed it up. She turned and saw Chantelle standing there, lost in thought.

"Ms. Chantelle, did you find Mr. Wilson’s suit?" she asked.

"Mr. Wilson didn’t order any suit. How is she supposed to find one?" Thea said as she walked in for a quick break. She took a big sip of water and glanced at Chantelle.

Chantelle’s eyes lit up when she saw her. "Thea, my dear friend. Do you have any extra suits in the shop right now?"

Thea raised an eyebrow. "What do you think? And do you really believe Mr. Wilson would wear a suit that isn’t custom-made for him?"

"Why not? It’s just a suit!" Chantelle argued.

Hearing that, Thea tapped her forehead with a finger. "Poor Mr. Wilson. He’s so unlucky to have you."

"Well, that’s my plan, and I’m glad it worked!"

Thea rolled her eyes. She shoved a suit into Chantelle’s arms and pushed her toward the door. "Take it and go. Don’t bother me again."

"Thea, thank you! You’re the best!" Chantelle hugged her and gave her a quick kiss.

"Good thing I overheard your conversation. I don’t know how you were planning to explain it to him."

"Why should I explain anything to him? I don’t owe him anything."

"Really? Then give me back the suit!" Thea smirked and gave Chantelle a playful look.

Chantelle clutched the suit tightly and ran off.

Outside the shop, she saw Shiela trying to get a taxi. Chantelle walked over. "Hey, Ms. Parker. Come with me. I’ll give you a ride."

"It’s okay. I can just take a cab," Shiela said politely. She didn’t want to trouble Chantelle. After all, she was just a secretary, and Chantelle was Daniel’s wife.

"It’s hard to get a cab around here. And look, your phone’s ringing. I bet it’s Jude asking about his suit," Chantelle said, pointing at Shiela’s phone.

In the end, Shiela had no choice but to get in the car. But as soon as she picked up her phone, Jude’s loud voice blasted through the speaker.

"Where have you been? You’ve been gone for over thirty minutes!"

"Mr. Jude, I went to get your suit!"

"I told you to let Jimmy handle that! You’re my personal assistant. Do you even know your job? You’re supposed to stay by my side at all times."

Shiela rolled her eyes. She had taken the chance to slip away just to get a little fresh air.

"Mr. Jude, I’m really sorry, but I’m stuck in heavy traffic. I might be a bit late getting back to the office."

"If I can’t see you in half an hour, you can just—"

"Okay, I’ll resign." Shiela gritted her teeth and ended the call. She couldn’t take it anymore. Even if Jude offered double the pay, she was done.

I’m his secretary, not his mother!

But Jude called her again. Still, Shiela quickly hung up. The more she ignored his calls, the better she felt.

"Ms. Parker, are you okay?" Chantelle asked, looking at her with concern.

"Yeah, I’m fine," Shiela said with a small laugh.

"You’re not happy working for Jude? I always thought..." Chantelle paused. From what she knew, Jude was a good boss. He never made Shiela work late or attend events after hours.

Shiela had even praised him before. But now, things seemed different. They didn’t look like they were getting along at all.

"Ms. Chantelle, Mr. Jude isn’t the person you think he is. You have no idea how he’s been treating me lately. I’m just his secretary, but he makes me do everything! I haven’t even had a proper break. I’m so fed up with him."

The more she spoke, the more upset she felt. Suddenly, Shiela covered her face and started crying.

Chantelle didn’t expect someone like Jude to drive a normal secretary crazy.

Just then, her phone rang. She paused for a second before picking it up.

"Chantelle, is Ms. Parker with you?"

How did Jude know I’m with Shiela? Why is he calling me?

"Um, yeah, but she’s not feeling well. She’s crying."

"Crying? Why is she crying?" Jude asked, clearly surprised.

"Because... you want to fire her?"

"No. Why would I fire her? I just asked her to bring the suit to my house. Chantelle, can you take her there?"

With that, Jude ended the call.

Chantelle looked confused. She pulled the car over and said, "Jude just called. He wants me to take you to his house."

"Huh?" Shiela looked up, surprised. She really thought she was about to lose her hundred-thousand-a-month job. Jobs like that were hard to find.

Shiela, what are you thinking? This isn’t a big deal. You won’t lose your job over something so small. Maybe Mr. Jude is even buying a new villa soon.

"Maybe he wants to apologize to you?" Chantelle said, sensing something different between the two.

"Then... did he say he’s giving me a raise?" Shiela asked, rubbing her nose and sniffling.
