Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 297: Daniel Is Different
Chapter 297: Chapter 297: Daniel Is Different
"Ms. Parker, I thought you liked working for Jude. What happened?" Chantelle asked, curious.
She wasn’t in a rush. The only thing she had to do was attend the charity dinner that night. Besides, she didn’t feel like going home to face Daniel. So, she decided to dig a little deeper.
"Mr. Jude has changed. He used to be a workaholic. But lately, he’s not working at all. His only joy now is making my life miserable!" Shiela complained.
Making her miserable? That sounded... interesting.
"How exactly is he torturing you?"
"Well, besides doing my actual job, he makes me button up his shirt, tie his shoelaces, and even wash his clothes. He asks me to go to his house to clean and cook. I’ve been staying there for less than two weeks, and I’m already exhausted."
The more Shiela talked, the angrier she got.
"I told him I couldn’t take it anymore. And guess what? He moved into my house! I’ve basically become his nanny after work. So, is it really that much to ask for a raise?"
"No, of course not. Jude’s being unreasonable. That’s way too much!" Chantelle said.
Hearing that, Shiela cleared her throat awkwardly. "Well... it’s not that bad. He still lets me sleep at least eight hours a day. And sometimes, when I don’t get enough rest, he’ll force me to go to my room... and sleep with me."
"Force you to sleep with him?" Chantelle raised an eyebrow. The more she heard, the more suspicious she became.
Shiela had never talked about Jude to anyone before. Now that she had someone to confide her thoughts, she leaned closer and whispered, "Ms. Chantelle, to be honest, I think something’s not right with Mr. Jude. Can you take him to see a doctor?" frёeweɓηovel_coɱ
"Can you tell me more?" Chantelle asked, even more curious now.
Shiela rubbed her chin, thinking. "He likes to hold my hands. Ever since he kissed me out of nowhere once, he’s been doing it more often. He also puts his hand on my waist. And whenever I talk to another man, he gets mad for no reason. After that, he gives me tons of work."
"Do you think he’s harassing you?" Chantelle asked.
"Well, it’s not that serious. He stops when I give him a sharp look."
"So, you don’t really mind it? You don’t find him gross?"
"No, I don’t mind. But he better pay me extra money." Shiela clearly knew there was a line between being a secretary and being a mistress.
A big boss like Jude could easily spend millions on mistresses. Shiela wasn’t about to accept a secretary’s pay for that kind of treatment.
"Do you think he likes you?" Chantelle asked again.
But Shiela shook her head. "No, definitely not. If he liked me, why would he keep piling work on me and watching me run around like crazy? I think he’s just stressed. He’s so overwhelmed that he only feels normal when he sees me just as busy as him."
That was Shiela’s honest observation.
Chantelle felt a bit sorry for Jude. Winning Shiela’s heart wouldn’t be easy for him.
"Well, do you think you might end up liking him? Since you don’t find him disgusting, even after everything?"
Knowing how hard Jude had been working, Chantelle made up her mind to help him.
"No way! There’s no chance I’d fall for a pervert like him. But I don’t really mind when he holds my hand sometimes. He’s a handsome man, after all. And honestly, as a secretary, I sort of expected something like this to happen."
Shiela kept talking, unaware that Jude was standing right behind her.
Chantelle touched her nose awkwardly. Looks like I messed up this time. She thought.
Shiela reached for the car door, and just then, a deep voice cut through the air.
"I’m a pervert?" Jude asked, looking furious.
"Mr. Jude... I..."
Shiela was so shocked and she dropped to her knees in front of him.
"Mr. Jude, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have talked behind your back. I really am sorry. I won’t complain again. Please don’t fire me!"
She was terrified of losing her job. She still had rent to pay. And without the job, she couldn’t afford the clothes and bags she liked anymore. No matter what, she had to beg Jude to keep her position.
Seeing that Jude was still angry, Chantelle silently walked back to her car.
"Jude, Ms. Parker has been working hard. Give her a raise." After saying that, Chantelle started the car and drove away.
Jude turned and looked at Shiela. Then he raised his middle finger slightly and adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses. "I’ll double your salary."
"Thank you, Mr. Jude!" Shiela’s eyes lit up.
Sitting in the car, Chantelle thought about the way Jude and Shiela looked at each other. It made her smile. The beginning of a relationship was always the sweetest just like how things were between her and Daniel in the beginning.
But no... Daniel is different.
Suddenly, Chantelle’s phone rang.
It was Daniel.
"Where have you been? I haven’t seen you for over an hour."
That familiar voice made Chantelle’s heart skip a beat.
"What’s the matter? Why are you looking for me?" she asked, raising her eyebrows.
"I’m hungry," he replied.
"Ask the maid to cook for you. Why do you need me?"
"I can’t eat without you."
"Am I your nanny now? Do I have to eat with you every time?"
"I miss you. I really can’t eat without you." He suddenly said, pacing back and forth inside his room.
"Did you pick this up from Jude?"
"Did you see Jude today? Why did you go to see him behind my back?"
What? What did he mean by that? Did he just make it sound like I was having an affair with Jude? Chantelle was stunned.
Without saying another word, she ended the call.
But Daniel called again.
Then, a message popped up on her phone.
It was from Kane.
Kane: Mommy, Daddy is going crazy. He locked himself in the room and won’t come out. He won’t eat or drink anything.
Kane: Mommy, Daddy soaked himself in ice water.
Chantelle’s phone kept buzzing. The messages wouldn’t stop.
Railer: Mommy, can you come back to see Daddy?
Even Railer had messaged her.
Seeing that, Chantelle sighed. She couldn’t help it anymore. She turned the car around and headed back to Silver Crest Global District.
