Chapter 300: Chapter 300: I Think Daddy’s The Scariest One

Daniel grabbed Chantelle’s hand. The playful look on his face disappeared, replaced by something serious. "I got it. I’ll head back to the company after I eat," he said.

Chantelle opened her mouth, but no words came out.

Daniel was already doing his best, even if he wasn’t perfect. Pushing him more now would just be too harsh.

"Let’s just eat," she said.

She gave a small cough to hide the awkward silence.

"Honey, I want some braised pork. Honey, I need tissue. Honey, pour me some water. This is too spicy. This one’s too salty, honey."

It was just a meal, but Chantelle felt like she couldn’t take hearing him say "honey" one more time.

Whatever guilt she felt earlier had faded after watching how he acted during the meal.

She didn’t even feel nervous about Trenton’s threat anymore. That uncomfortable feeling disappeared after she crushed Daniel’s cold attitude.

After they finished eating, Daniel changed out of his casual clothes and put on a sharp, expensive suit.

As he stood there with that strong, cold presence, he was back to being the powerful and intimidating Mr. Wilson.

"Now you finally look like yourself," Chantelle said with a satisfied nod.

Daniel raised an eyebrow. "Do you have a grudge against men in suits?"

"You should just shut up."

She regretted complimenting him at all.

Daniel headed to the Wilson Group of Companies, while Chantelle went to the Charity Association.

As the Chairperson, she had to dress well to represent the association properly. Kane, Stephanie, and Railer were coming with her this time, so she had to make sure they were dressed nicely too.

By seven in the evening, the venue for the charity dinner was fully decorated. Almost every media outlet in Easthan was there to take photos and get exclusive coverage.

People who couldn’t attend were gathered around their TVs, waiting for the live stream to begin.

When the ushers and advisors lined up in neat rows, the media’s attention immediately turned to them.

The ushers and advisors were all good-looking, with some standing out more than others. Events like this often helped them get noticed.

The media happily took photos of them while waiting for the main guests to arrive.

Not long after, a big screen lit up with a countdown.

When it hit zero, a well-known TV host walked on stage. He told everyone about the night’s theme, the guest list, and how the event would go.

As soon as he finished, a line of luxury cars pulled up and stopped at the entrance of the banquet hall.

The first guests to arrive were the government officials. They dressed simply, but everyone knew they held the real power. They smiled brightly and waved at the cameras.

After them came the big names in business; Easthan’s millionaires and tycoons. Leading the group was Daniel. His cold, emotionless look made him the perfect target for the cameras. Even with hundreds of flashes going off, he didn’t flinch.

Some people in the crowd were his fans. When they saw him, they couldn’t hold back and started screaming with excitement.

Next came the artists. They were the ones people at home were most excited to see. As the host introduced them one by one, the crowd broke into cheers and shouts, showing love for their favorite stars.

Stephanie stole the spotlight. The moment she appeared, the whole event hit its peak.

No matter how old they were, everyone was drawn to Stephanie’s cute face. They couldn’t stop shouting their love for her.

But Stephanie had seen this kind of crowd before. She stayed calm, not even slightly bothered.

Unlike the other artists who tried all sorts of tricks to get attention and ended up embarrassing themselves, Stephanie appeared more experienced and classy.

"Mommy, these people are scary. It feels like they’re going to eat Steph alive," Kane whispered, drawing closer to Chantelle as a chill ran down his back.

He felt lucky he wasn’t a celebrity. If he were, life would be a nightmare.

"That’s because they love Steph. Don’t talk nonsense," Chantelle said as she gently rubbed Kane’s head.

Railer added, "I think Daddy’s the scariest one."

Only then did Chantelle notice Daniel’s face. She almost forgot how protective he could be as a dad.

"Steph loves her job. If you mess this up for her, don’t expect her to be sweet to you again," Chantelle warned him politely.

Daniel looked at her and took her hand. In a calm voice, he said, "I don’t think Steph’s sister would want to join the entertainment world."

Chantelle glanced at his lower body but didn’t say anything.

Still, it felt like she was thinking, With how useless you are right now, you still want Steph to have a sister?

Daniel cleared his throat and stood straighter. "You know I’ll recover."

"Let us welcome this year’s Ambassador for Philanthropy, Ms. Natalia Law!"

As the host’s voice echoed through the hall, all eyes turned toward the entrance.

Previously, Natalia and Camille were all over the news because of their scandal. Even though the Nelsen family had already denied the rumors, people still thought of Camille the moment Natalia’s name was mentioned.

Camille had arrived earlier with Rowan and his brothers. Since the host didn’t announce her, no one really noticed her.

But now, some reporters had started looking for her.

The Nelsens saw this coming. They quickly led Camille into the hall before anyone could snap a photo of her jealous face.

"Wow, Natalia is so beautiful!"

"Where did she get that gown? It fits her perfectly!"

"I heard she’s in the research field and has donated a lot to charity over the years. No wonder she was chosen to be this year’s Ambassador for Philanthropy."

All eyes were on Natalia as soon as she showed up.

She had striking features and carried herself with a graceful, almost royal presence. At the same time, she looked warm and approachable.

Her light blue dress gave her a calm, peaceful vibe. There was also something mysterious about her like she didn’t quite belong to this world.

Chantelle had always admired women like Natalia. When they stared at each other, she gave her a small nod as a greeting.

Then she saw Natalia look over her shoulder and nod at someone nearby.

The only person standing beside her was Daniel.

Chantelle turned and saw Daniel actually smiling. His eyes were fixed on Natalia’s back as she walked away.
