Chapter 341: Chapter 341: Did You Find Anything?

After Philip left, Daniel stood by the French window and made a call to Ashton.

"Did you find anything? Did Trenton really come back to Easthan that day?"

"I looked into it carefully. Every year, when it’s time for the kids’ birthday, Trenton always sends them gifts himself. He’s done it every year since they were born up until last year. He’s never missed a single one."

Ashton didn’t mention how Trenton’s gifts were always expensive and carefully chosen. The kids loved them.

"Did Mrs. Wilson accept the gifts?" Daniel asked coldly.

Ashton replied cautiously, "At first, they got along well. But something happened, and their relationship soured. After that, Mrs. Wilson stopped accepting the gifts and used to throw them away. But Trenton has a way with words. He always managed to win the kids’ favor, so Mrs. Wilson eventually stopped throwing those gifts as she didn’t want to upset the children."

It looked like Trenton wasn’t an ordinary opponent. He had a hidden motive for doing this.

Daniel had never known Trenton’s age back then, and it had always bothered him. Now that he finally found out Trenton was still a young man, everything started to make sense.

"Do whatever it takes to stop him from coming back to Easthan, especially on the kids’ birthday."

Daniel had planned a big celebration for Stephanie, Kane, and Railer. He wanted to use that moment to tell everyone in Easthan that the children were his.

He couldn’t let Trenton ruin it.

"Mr. Wilson, Fred’s been on the run. He hasn’t gone back to Joseph," Ashton said. "We don’t know where he is right now."

Ashton felt it was his fault. He had failed to keep track of Fred.

If Fred chose to hide and wait for the right moment to get back at Chantelle, they would have to stay alert all the time. It would leave them vulnerable.

"Send more men to find him, but don’t make too much noise. Watch the people he’s been in contact with," Daniel said.

He knew Chantelle had captured many of Joseph’s men, so she must have learned something about Joseph and Trenton.

Fred had lost to Chantelle this time. Even if he tried to return to Joseph, Joseph wouldn’t take him back. All Fred could do now was complain to either Joseph’s father or Trenton.

But neither of them would help him much.

Joseph’s father was focused on taking back the Wilson Group Of Companies from Daniel. Since he hadn’t reached that goal yet, there was no way he’d risk starting a war just for Fred.

On the other hand, it was obvious how Trenton felt about Chantelle. There was no chance he’d hurt her over someone like Fred.

So, Daniel figured all he needed to do was send more people to keep an eye on Fred.

As for Chantelle, she hadn’t let Fred go by accident. She let him escape on purpose so her people could follow him. She wanted to find out who he had been talking to lately.

In this, she and Daniel were completely in sync.

That night, after getting ready for bed, Chantelle lay down to sleep. Soon, she noticed a bump under her blanket. When she pulled it back, Kane popped out with a cheeky grin.

"Mommy, I want to sleep with you tonight."

Chantelle looked into his eager eyes and could tell right away that he had done something wrong.

"What did you do with my phone?"

"Mommy, I swear I didn’t mean to do it. Auntie Thea asked me to send her all of Daddy’s private photos, and I accidentally sent them to the group chat."

Group chat?

Chantelle grabbed her phone and checked it immediately. To her horror, all of Daniel’s selfies and explicit photos had been sent to every group chat and contact on her phone, including her work group.

Now, her phone wouldn’t stop buzzing from the flood of incoming messages.

"Thanks for flaunting your love life, Chairman. That was seriously awkward."

"Chantie, your boyfriend’s got some serious charm."

"Chantie, do you not love me anymore? Why are you sending me pictures of another guy?"

"Chantie, I’m going to make sure you find out who Daniel really is."

Chantelle scrolled through the messages, trying to find out who sent the first one. Her finger froze on the screen, and a sharp sting rose in her eyes.

"Chantelle, are you okay?"

Chantelle covered her mouth as tears quietly fell onto the back of her hand.

Kane was completely stunned. Since the day he was born, his mommy had never shed a single tear in front of him, no matter how hard life got.

She used to tell him that crying was for the weak and that she was a fighter, someone who could face anything with bravery and grit.

"Mommy... what’s wrong?" Kane asked softly.

Chantelle looked into Kane’s eyes, then quickly wiped her tears away. She held out her phone to him and said, "Look who sent this message?"

Kane looked at the screen. Chantelle had opened the person’s profile, and it showed a photo of a couple standing in the golden glow of the evening sun. One of them was holding a baby. Kane jumped up from the floor and started hopping around with joy. "It’s godfather! It’s Godfather! Mommy, godfather’s alive! This is so great!"

"Yes... it’s really wonderful news." For a moment, Chantelle forgot all about Kane’s troublemaking with Daniel’s photos. Her heart was full of relief, and all she wanted to do was call Xander right away.

Kane rushed over and barely contained his excitement. He pressed his face close to Chantelle’s ear, grinning from ear to ear.

But the call took a while to connect. Finally, a woman from Carcosa answered. She told Chantelle that the patient was still in a coma and was currently in the emergency unit.

"Mommy, let’s go visit Godfather, okay?" Kane said eagerly. He had lived in Carcosa for five years and understood the language well. He caught every word the woman on the phone had said.

He couldn’t wait to go back.

Chantelle gave him a small nod. The doctors had said he would be in a vegetative state for a long time. And during the year she cared for him, there hadn’t been any sign of improvement. Now that he was awake, she wanted to see him too.

"Mommy." A small voice came from the bedroom door.

Railer had been standing there for a while, watching them silently.

Kane, who was never good at keeping secrets, immediately wanted to tell him the news. But before he could say a word, Chantelle gave him a gentle shake of the head.
