Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 1073 - 1069: Only Big Brother Himself Is Kept in the Dark
"Who could that person be?" Felix Shaw furrowed his brow and murmured to himself, while Nicholas Croft kept his head down, smoking, the swirling smoke concealing the emotions on his handsome face.
Nathan Moore lifted his gaze again, looking coldly at the two men on the sofa opposite. He snorted; it was expected that Felix Shaw would have a simple mind, but he didn’t expect Nicholas Croft, such a shrewd businessman, to become so foolish in matters of affection.
He glanced over at Evander Lancaster, who coincidentally looked back at him, and they exchanged a helpless smile.
Though Evander doesn’t do business, it doesn’t mean his mind is simple. After only a few interactions with Beatrice Hargrave, he had already discerned her "true nature," a child yet to grow up. No matter how she disguised herself, that playful mischievousness would inevitably reveal itself.
It’s believed that it’s not just him and Nathan who know Beatrice’s "true nature"; even the second sister-in-law should be aware. Otherwise, with her aloof personality, how could she be so fervently acquainted with a stranger who is a minor celebrity.
It seems only the elder brother is still kept in the dark.
Seeing Nicholas Croft remain silent, smoking, Nathan Moore looked at him again and asked, "Brother, how do you plan to handle that scoundrel? Should we band together to suppress his company, or use other methods?"
"What do you think?" Nicholas Croft finally spoke, holding the remaining short stub of the cigarette between his thumb and index finger. After taking another puff and exhaling the smoke, he sighed and asked.
Nathan Moore lowered his gaze, continuing to toy with the cigarette between his fingers, casually saying, "The eldest son of the Holmes Family is only nominally part of the company. It’s managed by his younger brother. He’s the one at fault, not the entire family. However..." Nathan Moore paused, then looked back, "If brother wants their family to bear the consequences, Felix and I will start preparing as soon as we return, and hold a meeting to discuss acquiring their Holmes Family’s company."
"Brother, isn’t that a bit harsh," Evander Lancaster interjected, draping himself on the card table, his long legs dangling, absentmindedly shuffling the cards in hand, "It’s Edward Holmes alone who made the mistake, not the entire Holmes Family."
"Then what do you suggest?"
Nicholas Croft raised his eyes to look at Evander Lancaster, about to take another puff, noticing the cigarette had burnt down completely, he threw it into the ashtray, leaned back into the sofa, crossed his legs, and waited for Evander to come up with an idea.
"Well..." Evander Lancaster continued to cut the deck in boredom, "We could think of other ways."
"What ways?" Nicholas Croft pressed him, and upon thinking of a method to punish, Evander suddenly laughed and said, "Isn’t Edward Holmes quite the philanderer? We could exploit this angle..."
Evander Lancaster shared his idea. After he finished, Felix Shaw laughed and said, "Fourth brother, good thing I’m not your enemy, or I’d have been killed by you long ago."
"That’s why being brothers with me is a blessing for you." Evander Lancaster said with pride, then Nathan Moore huffed in disagreement, "Those lousy tricks might work on common cucumbers, but for disciplined men like brother and me, you’ll find no chance."
"Second brother, I really don’t like hearing that," Evander Lancaster retorted, unwilling to yield, "No matter how disciplined you and brother are, you still have to attend social gatherings, right? If someone is intent on it, they can slip some drug at any opportunity. Once the drug takes effect, discipline means nothing. Even if there’s a bitch nearby, one would probably want to pounce on her."
