Mr. Hawthorne, Your Wife Wants a Divorce Again-Chapter 1085: This Person Harbors Malicious Intent
"Ah—"
A sharp, piercing scream suddenly erupted, followed by a horrifying scene.
Lucy Lock was thrown out of the car window, her body tossed by the shaking helicopter, leaving only one hand gripping the window frame desperately to prevent being flung out.
The fear of death swept over her, and Lucy Lock’s eyes widened with terror as she hurriedly called to Zachary Lancaster in the cockpit for help, "Pull me up! Quick!"
At that moment, the person in the cockpit lowered his head to look at Lucy Lock.
It was clearly still Zachary Lancaster’s face, but the expression on it was one of ruthless determination and coldness that Zachary could never have shown.
—He wants her dead!
Lucy Lock felt a chill in her heart, gritting her teeth as she reached with her other hand for the bomb remote in her pocket; however, before she could touch it, the helicopter was violently struck by the air pirates’ chasing aircraft!
"No—"
Lucy Lock’s fingers lost their grip on the window frame, her bloodshot eyes bulging with rage as she glared at the receding helicopter, reaching out in vain.
She was unwilling.
So unwilling!
Yet, no matter her unwillingness, it was all to no avail.
Witnessing this scene, even with Ann Vaughn’s high psychological resilience, she was startled.
When she looked out the window again, Lucy Lock’s falling figure was nowhere to be seen.
Beneath them lay a vast, dark ocean.
If one fell in, death was certain.
For Zachary Lancaster to treat his own mother so cruelly, Ann Vaughn dared not imagine what methods he might use against her next...
"Young Madam, please close the window and sit tight." Zachary Lancaster suddenly spoke, interrupting Ann Vaughn’s chaotic thoughts.
What did he call her?!
Ann Vaughn abruptly looked up at Zachary Lancaster, who seemed like a different person, suddenly enlightened.
"You’re not Zachary Lancaster?"
"Crane, from the Hawthorne Family’s Shadow Guard Team 1, greets Young Madam." Crane glanced at the three helicopters trailing them, his tone lively, "Things are a bit complicated. Please sit tight; the journey ahead might be a bit thrilling."
Initially, Ann Vaughn thought those "air pirates" were disguised Hidden Guards, designed to protect her, and was relieved.
Unexpectedly, the reality was quite the opposite...
As soon as this thought arose, a massive external force threw it out of Ann Vaughn’s mind.
It didn’t take long for her to understand what Crane meant by his last words.
This wasn’t just thrilling;
It was downright perilous!!
Half an hour later, a thunderous crash echoed across the desolate lands of the Western Suburbs of the Imperial Capital.
The helicopter parked not far away had already been battered beyond recognition by external forces, covered in ominous bullet holes, with its tail rotor dealt severe damage, constantly emitting black smoke.
Ann Vaughn jumped from the helicopter; as soon as her feet touched the ground, her knees gave way, almost causing her to kneel before the sky and earth.
Luckily, Crane caught her just in time, preventing any embarrassment.
"Young Madam, I’ll have someone come to pick you up. Please sit here and wait for a moment." Crane supported Ann Vaughn to the side to sit down, then took out his phone in preparation to call for someone.
Ann Vaughn, fighting the dizziness and weakness throughout her body caused by airsickness, caught a glimpse of a light ahead and waved at Crane, "No need, someone’s already coming for me."
Sherry stopped not far ahead, quickly getting out of the vehicle and rushing toward Ann Vaughn, embracing her tightly.
"You nearly scared us to death. Thank goodness you’re alright, or I wouldn’t know how to explain to your brother."
"I’m fine, right here," Ann Vaughn comforted, patting her shoulder, and stood up to speak to Crane, "Thanks for everything today, then I’ll just leave with Sherry..."
Before Ann Vaughn could finish her sentence, Crane suddenly changed his expression and, disregarding courtesy, pulled Ann Vaughn behind him.
He then abruptly acted, seizing Sherry by the throat!
Sherry’s eyes widened in panic as she looked at Crane.
"Crane, wait!" Ann Vaughn’s face changed, quickly stopping Crane, "She’s my friend, not an enemy, don’t..."
"Young Madam, this person harbors ill intentions." Crane didn’t loosen his grip, his expression reverting to the ruthless demeanor he had shown at the last moment with Lucy Lock, "The tail rotor of the helicopter was hit, forcing me to make an emergency landing. However, I never sent the coordinates of this location to anyone before."
The other Hidden Guards didn’t know, the Sheridan brothers didn’t know.
Sherry... could not possibly have known either!
Indeed, had it not been for Crane’s skills, the helicopter might have crashed in some uninhabited area long ago, costing Ann Vaughn her life.
But that didn’t mean Ann Vaughn would doubt Sherry, who had always treated her like family, just based on a few words from Crane.
"Crane, let Sherry go first." Ann Vaughn pressed her lips together, her tone sure, "Sherry wouldn’t harm me. I trust her."
"Young Madam..." Crane frowned; if this were a battlefield, one moment of indecision could cost lives.
However, Ann Vaughn remained firm, leaving Crane no choice but to release her.
Sherry choked painfully, coughing repeatedly, tears streaming down.
"What kind of madman is this? Grabs without even asking." Sherry’s voice was hoarse, "I knew where Annie was because her necklace has a tracker. I just got here a bit earlier than Kenny and Eli Sheridan, how does that make me suspicious??"
As if to validate her words, several headlights approached from a distance, appearing before them in a blink.
Kenny and Elliot both got out of the car, hurrying toward Ann Vaughn!
"Mommy!"
"Annie!"
The pair rushed over, enveloping Ann Vaughn in a warm embrace.
Though the Hidden Guards had repeatedly assured them that Crane was the most precise and cunning pilot in Shadow Guard Team 1, and that even if Lucy Lock had a bomb, she could never match him in that helicopter. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
But until personally seeing Ann Vaughn safe and sound, neither Kenny nor Eli Sheridan could breathe easy for a moment.
Only now could they finally relax, nearly shedding tears of joy.
Feeling their trembling grip on her, Ann Vaughn, initially amused, suddenly felt a lump in her throat, hugging them back, "It’s alright. Brother, Kenny, you see I’m fine now... oof!"
Before finishing the word "fine," Ann Vaughn was struck by a wave of nausea.
While vomiting, Ann Vaughn thought that she might not be able to ride helicopters again.
It’s become a phobia...
Meanwhile, Crane crossed his arms over his chest, walking past Sherry without a glance, leaving a warning: "The fox’s tail will always be exposed one day."
