Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 314: Let Me Accommodate You
Seraphina Redgrave couldn’t discern his mood, and furrowed her brow, asking, "Don’t like it?"
Indeed, her thoughts before were a bit too bold. His mother and sister held such significant places in his heart that she couldn’t easily touch upon them.
Ethan Sterling crouched down in front of her, carefully holding her hand, placing it before his eyes, and examining it meticulously.
Against his backdrop, her palm appeared even smaller, her hands, delicate and fine, seemed as though Ethan could break them with just a bit of force.
All the injuries on her hand had healed, and he couldn’t find the marks once left from carving tombstones.
However, just thinking about what Nanny Lynch said, his mind conjured the image of Seraphina tirelessly carving day and night with bandaged fingers, causing a pang of pain in his heart. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"I didn’t ask you to do this."
He stated, word by word.
"I’m sorry," Seraphina knew she touched his taboo, "Let’s choose an auspicious day for the tombstone, really, I..."
"It’s fine being with me."
Ethan raised his eyes, filled with complex emotions, "You don’t need to prepare gifts for me, nor do you need to do anything for me."
At this moment, he panicked.
He didn’t want her to make any sacrifices for him. Compared to what she did, his efforts were utterly insignificant.
Seraphina relaxed her legs, sat straight, realizing he wasn’t angry, breathed a sigh of relief but couldn’t fathom what was troubling Ethan, "Did someone say something to you? I’m here by your side now."
Why was he suddenly so sensitive? Clearly, she had promised to stay by his side, yet recently he was even more troubled than before.
Should she write a guarantee letter and certify it at the notary office?
Ethan knelt on one knee, turned his face, imprinting her palm on his cheek, leaving it there like a child.
"..."
Seraphina was increasingly baffled. What was wrong with him?
Did he see something else aside from the gift earlier?
"Seraphina."
Ethan felt the warmth of her palm, calling her name softly, his voice dangerously alluring, "I’ve always been a despicable person, selfish, possessive; anything that catches my eye, I’ll hold tight and prefer to destroy it rather than give it to someone else."
"..."
"I’ve always been this way, and will be forever, I can’t and won’t change."
Ethan held her hand, looking up at her, his words discomforting yet his tone utterly humble, seeming to plead for her acceptance of such a despicable him.
Having lived with Ethan for so long, Seraphina had long grown accustomed to his possessiveness, but why today did he suddenly use such a tone to say these things? Clearly, he used to be quite proud of it.
Once ruthless enough to almost break her leg to ensure she’d stay forever.
Seraphina gazed at his well-defined features and suddenly smiled, a somewhat faint smile, "Honestly, I used to hate your possessiveness, but after spending so much time together, I seem to understand."
"Understand?"
Was she really understanding him?
Seraphina withdrew her hand, bearing the pain in her left shoulder, cradling his face with her gentle hands, eyes tender like a spring breeze, "You care so much because there are so few things you can truly control, that’s why."
Who would have thought that the grand CEO of Sterling Group, the keeper of Z country’s economy, Ethan Sterling, could be almost insecure?
"Not few, since my sister passed away, none have appeared until you did." Ethan looked into her eyes, a gaze as deep as a confession, "Until you appeared."
The words he spoke...
Were surprisingly pleasant.
Most people can’t tell which words men speak are true or false, but ever since she saw Ethan battered and bruised come before her, she knew all his words were true.
Seraphina continued to cradle his face, as if comforting a child, her lips softly parting, "Alright, since that’s the case, I’ll always stay with you, love you."
"Even if I never allow you to mention Veridian Isle?" Ethan asked.
"Nanny Lynch told me earlier, the person to remove the electronic handcuff will come tomorrow. After tomorrow, Veridian Isle will have no relation to me, don’t worry," Seraphina replied.
She made these things clear; once, Veridian Isle sustained her, but now, what sustains her is Ethan, or she’d have already died in The Directorate.
Hearing these words, Ethan chuckled self-deprecatingly, lowering his head, "I used to think you treated me poorly, but now I feel you treat me too well."
Too well for him to know how to repay.
Such a wonderful Seraphina deserves all one has to offer.
"You’re so hard to compromise with."
Seraphina was a bit speechless.
"No need for you to compromise, from now on, let me compromise for you every day."
Ethan buried his head in her lap.
"..."
Seraphina laughed.
...
The next day, Seraphina awaited the staff to remove her electronic handcuff; waited half a day but didn’t see the staff, instead Miles Harrington arrived.
Ethan was upstairs, leaning beside the floor-to-ceiling window, reading files, while Seraphina leaned on his arm reading a book, a deer lay asleep at their feet.
The sunlight bathed the trio, exuding a calm serenity.
Suddenly, this beauty was disrupted by the sound of argument outside.
"I really regret knowing someone like you since childhood; you’re insincere, full of twists and turns in thought, truly difficult."
Miles Harrington’s voice rang angrily from outside.
"President, this is Young Master Sterling’s private space, please maintain basic guest manners and avoid shouting."
Nathan Ayers was matter-of-fact.
"If you leave my side, I’ll surely lower my volume immediately."
The two bickered all the way, unknowingly reaching the study door, Seraphina glanced outside to see Miles Harrington in a light blue shirt and white suit pants, appearing elegant, just not in a good mood.
Nathan stood like a wooden statue behind him.
Seraphina rose and addressed those in front loudly, "Oh my, what brings the President here today; it’s truly an honor for my humble abode."
Seraphina’s tone was sinister, full of sarcasm.
"Ethan asked me to send someone to remove your electronic handcuff, just as I also wanted to figure out, who was the brilliant mind that had Nathan and me at odds," Miles Harrington said, feeling stifled.
