Chapter 800: Chapter 800: Gentleman’s Agreement

Lana Holloway: "But I see he doesn’t get very close with other female stars. Even though he invites guest performers every year at his concerts, it’s rarely girls, and it’s usually girls outside the industry. You might be the first one. And when you two sang that song on stage, his gaze looked so affectionate, no wonder people would spread these rumors."

Barry Barrett chuckled awkwardly: "He’s an actor, you know. He’s supposed to manage his expressions and gaze well. Look at him singing love songs alone on stage—still so full of emotion."

Lana Holloway nodded: "You’re right. His acting skills are indeed excellent. Every time I watch his TV dramas, he really takes me on an emotional journey."

Barry Barrett: "I didn’t know you liked him too. I still have some of his signed photos at home. I’ll give you one when I return."

Lana Holloway was overjoyed: "Really? Wouldn’t it be very precious? Maybe, it’s better not to..."

Barry Barrett: "When I first got the first one, I thought it was precious too. I even framed it, but later, as the number grew, it didn’t feel special anymore. It’s just him signing his name on a photo, just a matter of seconds."

Norman Sutton, quietly standing outside the room door, pressed his ear against it, only hearing murmuring inside, not knowing what the two were chatting about so enthusiastically.

Could it be something related to him?

...

Phoebe King took the opportunity to call Stephen Sutton while Summer was still awake, lying in bed.

At first, Summer saw her dad’s image on the phone screen and constantly tried to grab the phone, thinking catching the phone meant catching her dad.

Later, because Phoebe King talked too long, Summer fussed a bit beside Phoebe King before curling up and falling asleep.

Phoebe King switched to the rear camera, pointing it at Summer, and giggled to Stephen Sutton: "Take a look at your daughter’s sleep posture."

Stephen Sutton seemed unfazed, opened his mouth to say something, but the screen froze without the words coming out.

Knowing it was surely a tunnel again, Phoebe King patiently waited to call back after exiting the tunnel.

Once out of the tunnel, she received a message from Stephen Sutton: If Summer is asleep, you should get some rest too.

Phoebe King chuckled at the screen, replying with a message: Don’t worry, Auntie Linton and the others are here to take care of things.

Stephen Sutton: Even though it’s a trip, being out all day is still tiring. Get some rest early, watch the local temperature changes, and dress warmly to avoid catching a cold.

Phoebe King: Got it, following Teacher Sutton’s advice. You should rest early too, on the weekend let’s meet up.

Stephen Sutton: Okay, goodnight.

Phoebe King smiled so broadly her eyes almost closed; at home, he never said "good night" to her.

On the RV, Scott Sutton lay in bed watching Evelyn Linton’s live stream. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

He hadn’t informed Evelyn Linton of his travel plans, and Evelyn probably hadn’t noticed he hadn’t returned home, or maybe she noticed but didn’t care why he hadn’t come back.

Scott Sutton suddenly regretted not keeping his identity hidden; if he were still Evelyn Linton’s "sister", she might contact him multiple times a day.

Like, whether to order takeout together, needed anything, coming home tonight, that sort of thing.

But since the lie was revealed, Evelyn Linton hadn’t chatted with him anymore.

Scott Sutton felt a bit sleepy but held on waiting for Evelyn Linton to end the stream at midnight.

Initially hoping she would notice he hadn’t returned after ending the stream, maybe send a message asking.

But even by half past twelve, the phone remained silent, so Scott Sutton put it down, turned off the bedside lamp, and closed his eyes.

He’s not someone to be too hard on himself; since it’s a trip, he should relax and not dwell on unpleasant matters.

The vehicle smoothly drove along the highway.

Audrey Sutton and Anna played all day, practically falling asleep right after a bath.

Shane moved Anna, who slept between them, to his other side, placing himself in the middle.

After covering Anna with her own little blanket, he hugged the already sleeping Audrey Sutton and comfortably closed his eyes.

Everyone probably hadn’t slept this early for a while, waking up around six the next morning.

The vehicle gathered at the service area; everyone finished washing up and had breakfast.

The morning still held some chill, with the service area being vast and sparsely populated, little shelter and the wind quite biting, so no one lingered. Once the vehicle was replenished, they set off again.

Around nine in the morning, they arrived at the first camping site.

This location was recommended by Seraphina Vaughn’s friend, not yet a popular spot, so it wasn’t crowded during the spring outing season.

Situated a bit remote by a rural highway, already lined by parked private cars.

Below the highway was a vast plain grassland with a small creek running through it, lush green banks and blooming wildflowers adorned the spring scenery.

Scattered tents along the creek’s banks; despite its remote location, it was lively.

After finding a spot to set up camp, tent pitching became the men’s task.

The women took the children to play by the creek, enjoying the early spring scenery.

The sun rose slowly around nine, warm and gentle, casting a bright golden glow across the grassland.

The kids, though unable to walk yet, were eager to frolic all over the grass.

Audrey Sutton bent over holding Anna’s hands, despite her unsteady steps, racing faster than anyone; Audrey Sutton felt aged, playing a bit left her sore and breathless.

Noticing Shane Warner neither helped with tent pitching nor barbecue setup, Audrey Sutton carried Anna over hand her to him: "Your son’s a runner, you take over. I reckon if he plays here all afternoon, he’ll learn to walk."

Shane Warner received Anna, saying to Audrey Sutton: "Sounds like you need more exercise, your son isn’t tired but you are."

Audrey Sutton waved off: "I can’t keep up, need to sit for water."

A long table set up nearby, resembling an outdoor gala, topped with fruit platters, snacks, drinks, and nibbles.

Audrey Sutton got a sparkling water, quietly indulging at the table.

Watching Shane Warner with Anna, she felt curious.

With her, Anna acted like a wild horse, insisting on being held as they ran around.

Now with his dad, Anna obediently sat on the grass next to him, playing with flowers and grass intently.

Shane Warner just watched closely, only intervening when Anna tried to eat the wildflowers.

Could the son recognize him? Why is he so well-behaved with his dad?

Do these two have some secret gentleman’s agreement?
