Chapter 801: Chapter 801: Bound to Be a Lifelong Bachelor

"Ahem—"

Audrey Sutton heard a pretentious cough behind her, turned her head, and saw Norman Sutton who had somehow ended up behind her. She smiled and asked, "What’s up?"

Norman sat down nearby, grabbed an apple from the table, took a bite, and said, "Nothing much, just bored. I knew tagging along with you would be dull."

Audrey smiled meaningfully and pointed in the direction where Lana Holloway was, saying, "Lana’s here and it’s still dull?"

"Tch..." Norman scoffed disdainfully, putting on a facade of indifference, but his eyes kept darting towards Lana, betraying his true intentions.

Lana was currently having fun with Laura Yates, teasing Clary, and all of them had smiles on their faces, looking quite pleased.

Audrey grabbed a few pistachios from the plate, munching as she said to Norman, "If you fancy her, pursue her properly. Don’t be a coward. But before pursuing, you have to fix that nasty habit of yours. A piece of advice from your sister..."

Norman frowned and turned towards Audrey, expecting her to come up with something brilliant, but all she squeezed out were three words: "Talk less."

"You haven’t spoken to her for ages, and now you’re telling me to talk less!"

Audrey: "And why do you think she’s been unwilling to talk to you for so long? Haven’t you figured out why?"

Norman really was a bit puzzled, leaving him unsure whether to step back or get closer.

Backing down was naturally disappointing, but moving closer risked pressuring Lana too much, potentially backfiring.

Audrey beckoned Norman to get closer: "Want your sister to show you a clear path?"

Norman furrowed his brow, though his expression was less than pleasant, at least he was willing to listen, indicating he had the heart but not the smarts.

Audrey sighed, speaking sincerely: "Oh dear! A fine young man like you, why must you have a mouth?"

Norman’s face turned stern: "Can you stop with the crap?!"

Audrey: "You’re asking for my help, right? What attitude is this? I’m telling you, if you want to pursue Lana, you first need to change that habit of yours!"

Norman was clearly annoyed but had to swallow his anger, glaring at Audrey: "Spit it out!"

Audrey: "First tidy up your expression and manage your scowl."

Norman probably surpassed his usual tolerance limit; normally, he would have kicked the chair and walked off.

Though he wasn’t giving Audrey a friendly face, the fact that he sat down obediently was enough.

Audrey, looking seasoned and experienced, told Norman: "First, you need to understand that saying more isn’t as good as doing more. Why did Lana reject your marriage proposal? It’s because you never did anything to make her feel you were reliable; you either insulted or bullied her. Despite saying sweet words during the proposal, Lana has no fondness for you, so she’s more likely to say no!"

Norman: "I didn’t ask you to analyze the last proposal! It was because of your meddling that it ended that way!"

Audrey: "Don’t dump the blame on me! I think the proposal arrangement was flawless; it was you who had the issue. If Lance were the one proposing, Lana might have..."

"Audrey Sutton! I..."

"Hey! Look at your temper! Do you think Lana would like someone who flies into anger and curses at the drop of a hat?"

Norman took a deep breath, as if forcibly suppressing his temper: "Get to the point!"

Audrey popped a pistachio into her mouth, took a sip of sparkling water, and continued: "Haven’t I been clear enough? Don’t you know what to do yet?"

Norman frowned, clearly troubled, apparently not enlightened.

"Oh, my foolish brother, didn’t I just say doing more is better than saying more? It means you should quietly offer her some help, observe when she needs something, and provide it at the right moment. That guarantees bonus points in her heart, then you can talk about the future."

Norman: "How do I know when she needs something? What, if she goes to the restroom without toilet paper, I should deliver it?"

Audrey rolled her eyes: "You’re hopeless, just stay single, don’t harm Lana. I think Lance is quite nice; I’ll ask Sister Phoebe if Lance has plans to return to the country and invite him to join us."

Saying this, Audrey pretended to reach for her phone, but Norman snatched it from her: "Call him my ass! Don’t call him! Just seeing that guy annoys me."

Audrey feigned a sigh, glancing at Lana not far away: "If Lance were here, seeing Lana playing in the creek, he would definitely prepare a bowl of ginger tea to ward off the cold."

That much said, even Norman understood, though he replied grumpily: "If I give her ginger tea, she’d probably think I’m poisoning her."

Audrey: "Couldn’t you think of another way? Like having Auntie Linton deliver it and say that young master specifically asked to have it made. What do you think..."

Before finishing her sentence, Norman hurriedly got up and headed towards the food cart by the roadside,

As smart as he was in his professional field, he was at the pinnacle, but his mind wasn’t built for romance.

Clearly, intelligence doesn’t equate to emotional intelligence. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Reflecting now, Shane Warner’s eloquence wasn’t much better than Norman’s. Fortunately, she liked Shane from the start, otherwise, Shane would probably end up like Six, forever a bachelor!

Her thoughts were obviously in her head, yet it seemed Shane sensed them, as his gaze swept towards her; she immediately smiled at him, took a sip of sparkling water, and ran towards the father-son duo.

Seeing Anna’s overalls covered in mud, Audrey picked her up from the ground and said to Shane: "Look at how filthy your son is, rolling around on the ground like this."

Shane glanced at Anna with indifference and said: "Do you think this is the carpet at home? Kids love to play; they won’t keep their clothes clean. Just change him later."

Audrey took wet wipes from her bag and wiped the dirt off Anna’s hands, saying: "Look at your dad, this is your real dad, treating you like livestock."
