Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 804: You Seem to Really Dislike Him
Barry Barrett had already heard most of the story between Norman Sutton and Lana Holloway from Audrey Sutton.
So when she saw Norman Sutton come in, she observed the two of them with a look of a spectator.
She always thought that Six was someone who acted impulsively and bravely, and figured that if he met a girl he liked, he’d be the type to pursue her passionately.
But unexpectedly, it was quite the opposite; this guy was only tough online, able to take on a hundred with a keyboard, but in reality, he’s a true coward.
For instance, right now his gaze was constantly fixed on Lana Holloway, yet he didn’t dare to say a word to her.
Barry, always eager for more drama, called out to Norman Sutton: "Hey, Six!"
Norman Sutton was startled, frowned at Barry, and Barry waved him over: "Come here for a sec."
Lana Holloway lowered her head to take a sip of juice, not even bothering to glance back.
Norman hesitated for a moment before getting up to walk over, sullenly asking, "What?"
Barry glanced at Lana, who still kept her head down, making it clear that she didn’t even want to make eye contact with Norman.
Barry chuckled and asked Norman, "Do you have any plans this afternoon? We’re planning to go fish, want to join us?"
Norman responded dismissively, "Hmph, childish, you played all morning and still not tired of it? Didn’t see you catch a single fish yet."
Barry: "Oh~ The great Norman is indeed great, still paying attention to whether we’ve caught any fish while playing games."
Norman was taken aback, then stammered, "Audrey told me."
Barry: "I see. So, the great Norman must have plenty of experience, right? How about leading us this afternoon?"
Lana had been secretly giving Barry knowing glances, thinking Barry wasn’t aware of her and Norman’s situation and was proposing it naively, so she tried to hint at Barry not to invite Norman.
Deep down, Norman wanted to go with Lana, but said instead: "What could you possibly catch in such a tiny creek? Just small fish and shrimp, it’s not interesting."
Barry: "Who says? We saw some guys nearby catch a big one, enough for three people once roasted. Come on, great Norman, join us. We just want to catch something to roast for dinner, or my sister will surely mock me and Lana."
Norman glanced at Lana, who had been silent all this time, and reluctantly said, "Fine, I’ll go with you."
Barry smiled contentedly: "Great, eat quickly then, we’ll wait for you outside the train car."
Saying that, Barry didn’t wait for Lana to react and pulled her out of the train car.
Outside, Lana quietly said to Barry, "...Bear, just the two of us should go, I don’t want to be with him..."
Barry feigned ignorance and asked Lana puzzledly, "Why not? Is there something going on between you two? You seem to dislike him quite a bit."
Lana pursed her lips, unsure of how to explain to Barry, just saying awkwardly, "I just feel being around him..."
Barry: "Hey! No worries! We’re just going to boss him around to catch fish, he’s used to being pampered at home, let’s make him feel what it’s like to be ordered around."
Just as they were talking, Norman came down from the train with a chicken leg in hand, chewing: "Let’s go."
Barry, holding Lana’s hand, nodded happily: "Yeah, let’s go, young master."
They followed the stream to a small riverside spot in the woods, where Norman rolled up his sleeves and pants, pointing to the edge, "There’s a crab over there, see it?"
Barry instantly got curious, "Where? Where?"
Norman: "In the hole, you can only see its legs. I’ll go get it."
With that, Norman stepped into the water, wading through the knee-deep stream to the crab hole.
Lana stood by, about to instinctively warn him about getting pinched, but remembering it was Norman, she held back.
Seemingly experienced, Norman picked up a stick from the bank, carefully removed some mud from the hole so he could reach his hand in.
Then, using the stick, he deftly pulled the crab out of the hole: "It’s pretty big."
Barry: "Wow, we can have crab tonight!"
Norman extended the crab towards Barry, "Put it in the bucket."
Barry hesitated, retracting her hand, "I’m afraid it’ll pinch me."
Norman impatiently replied: "Just grab it by the back like this."
Barry shook her head: "No, I’m still scared."
Norman rolled his eyes, "Hand me the bucket."
Barry looked over at Lana holding the bucket, prompting her to silently walk over and pass it to him.
Norman released the crab into the bucket, where it scrambled around noisily.
He glanced at Lana, then advised: "When you catch them, just grab their backs, so you don’t get pinched."
Barry quickly shook her head, "I won’t catch it, just leave it in the bucket."
Turns out there were more crabs than expected, and within ten minutes, Norman had caught four, all pretty plump.
Barry looked at the crabs in the bucket, puzzled, "Weren’t we going to catch fish?"
Norman replied, annoyed, "Fish have to be there to catch."
Barry: "Maybe you picked the wrong spot? We saw fish at the small pond this morning."
Norman: "Those weren’t even bigger than my palm, we’d have to release them back." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Barry: "True, let’s keep catching crabs, I’ll give it a try."
Saying that, Barry kicked off her flip-flops, rolled up her jeans, and stepped into the water, then asked Lana, "Lana, want to join?"
Lana stood on the bank, holding the bucket, before Norman told her, "Just stay on the bank with the bucket."
After all, the stream was still chilly this time of year, and they should have had enough fun by now.
Lana had no intention of getting in, not because of the chill, but because this side was deeper and murkier, she feared stepping on something strange or getting bitten.
Barry grew up in the city and had never done this before.
Upon finding the crab hole, she wanted to try catching one but was hesitant.
Norman stood nearby, guiding her through some tips, albeit impatiently, his tone similar to when they gamed together, implying Barry was foolish.
Watching this from the bank, Lana felt an odd emotion rising within her, she pursed her lips and looked away, her mind becoming somewhat muddled.
