Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Don’t Want to Hurt Her
Chapter 50 -50: Don’t Want to Hurt Her
“I’ll straighten you out sooner or later!”
“…”
Sheng Xian shook his head, raised his car window, and drove away, stepping on the gas.
Lu Jingyan stared at Sheng Xian’s car as it gradually disappeared, his mood—which had just improved after venting all the way with Song Xian—soured once again.
Aunt Sun accidentally saw Lu Jingyan standing outside through the glass and hurriedly opened the window, “Miss Lu, why don’t you come in?”
Upon hearing Aunt Sun’s voice, Lu Jingyan took a deep breath, gathered her emotions, and pushed the door open to enter the house.
She changed shoes in the living room and then went straight upstairs, her demeanor appearing calm and placid.
Back in her bedroom, after closing the door, Lu Jingyan threw her bag onto the bed and immediately called Song Xian, “He likes men? Fine, the thing I’m best at is dealing with men. He likes one, I’ll handle one; he likes two, I’ll take care of a pair. I’ll damn well charm every man in the world, forcing him to have no men left to fancy—”
As she spoke, Lu Jingyan suddenly realized something wasn’t quite right.
If Sheng Xian liked men, why would he use her birthday as his phone’s Wi-Fi password?
He’d known her since they were children and still remembered her till now.
Lu Jingyan blinked, her mind suddenly conjuring up a scenario where Sheng Xian had harbored a secret crush on her for years, not daring to approach her due to the vast difference in their family backgrounds, unable to forget her, which led to his loss of interest in women and subsequent interest in men.
Lu Jingyan slowly let out an “ah,” “Looks like he’s not that bent after all.”
Song Xian asked, “What do you mean ‘not that bent’?”
Lu Jingyan felt it was her negligence back then that had caused him to turn out like this; she felt obliged to straighten him out.
She truly was kind-hearted.
Lu Jingyan hastily replied to Song Xian with an “I’ll tell you later,” and hung up the phone to start strategizing.
…
After dropping off Lu Jingyan, Sheng Xian drove to a private clinic. He had visited this clinic many times and needed no navigation to get there.
As a private clinic, it was lavishly decorated and offered top-notch service.
As soon as Sheng Xian stepped through the revolving door, a nurse greeted him with a smile and blocked him for registration, “Hello, may I ask which patient you are here to visit?”
Sheng Xian stood in front of the desk, leaned down, and with a pen filled out his personal information.
He put the pen down and looked up at the nurse, “Jian Mo.”
The nurse searched the information on the computer, “Is it Miss Jian Mo?”
Perhaps rarely encountering such an attractive visitor, the nurse seemed overly eager, “She’s on the third floor. Do you need me to take you there?”
In contrast, Sheng Xian’s demeanor was as indifferent as a cold, emotionless statue, “No need, thank you.”
The nurse was slightly disappointed but politely gestured toward the right, “Please take the elevator over there.”
Exiting the elevator on the third floor and walking down the corridor to the end, Sheng Xian saw through the glass on the door the woman sitting inside.
She was very thin, emaciated even, with dry, yellow hair and inelastic skin, resembling someone who had suffered long-term abuse and malnutrition.
The nurse sat opposite her, feeding her. She coaxed for a long time before the woman took a bite, and sometimes she would chew and then spit it out.
Sheng Xian stood for a while, then knocked on the door twice before pushing it open.
The nurse recognized him, “Professor Sheng, you’re here?”
Sheng Xian nodded and walked over, knowing Jian Mo wouldn’t recognize him, but still called out, “Sis.”
Jian Mo looked up and gave him a silly smile for a while, then unclearly called out, “Uncle.”
Sheng Xian pursed his lips and reached out his hand to the nurse, “Give it here, I’ll feed her.”
Jian Mo clapped her hands, “Okay, Uncle will feed me, Uncle will feed me.”
Sheng Xian pulled out a tissue and wiped the oil stain from Jian Mo’s mouth, then sat opposite her, patiently feeding her with a spoon.
Jian Mo ate very little, but the feeding was so slow that by the time she finished, it was already more than forty minutes later.
After the nurse cleared the dining table and left, Sheng Xian flipped through a book, telling stories to Jian Mo. The room was quiet, with only Sheng Xian’s slightly low and somewhat cold voice remaining.
Half an hour later, Jian Mo fell asleep. Sheng Xian carefully covered her with the blanket and quietly left the ward.
The nurse who looked after Jian Mo was at the nurse station. Seeing Sheng Xian approaching, she immediately stood up, “Professor Sheng, did Miss Jian sleep?”
Sheng Xian made an “mm” sound in response and asked, “How has she been recently?”
The nurse replied, “Miss Jian has been very emotionally stable lately, but her IQ is still at the level of a three-year-old.”
Sheng Xian didn’t speak further, but he didn’t leave either.
Just as the nurse was about to ask if there was anything else, Sheng Xian lifted his eyelids slightly, “Is your director here?”
“Yes, Director Zhuang is in his office.” The nurse asked, “Shall I call him for you?”
Sheng Xian replied, “No need.”
Returning to the ground floor, Sheng Xian emerged from the elevator and saw Zhuang Chen, dressed in a white lab coat, lazily leaning against the nurse station’s desk, chatting and laughing with a group of young girls.
Sheng Xian stood at a distance and cleared his throat.
Zhuang Chen turned his head, saw him, and waved, “Come over and have a chat.”
Sheng Xian ignored him and turned to walk directly toward his office.
Zhuang Chen clicked his tongue regretfully and had to stand up straight, waving to the group of young nurses before lazily following Sheng Xian.
Inside the office, Sheng Xian took a seat with familiarity.
Zhuang Chen poured him some hot tea, “Came to see Jian Mo?”
Sheng Xian hummed in acknowledgment, placed the cup on the desk, looked up at Zhuang Chen, and said, “I need to discuss something with you.”
Pouring tea for himself, Zhuang Chen didn’t take his words to heart, “Go ahead.”
After a few seconds of silence, and once Zhuang Chen sat down, Sheng Xian got straight to the point, “I want to try the treatment plan you proposed before.”
Zhuang Chen’s hand shook, nearly spilling the water. He quickly set down his cup and looked up incredulously at Sheng Xian for a second to confirm he was the one speaking, “You mean the treatment plan for your condition?”
Sheng Xian’s expression remained calm, “Yes.”
“Hold on, I need a moment to digest this,” Zhuang Chen pinched his thigh through his trousers, wincing from the pain, “Damn, I’m not dreaming. Could you first tell me why now, when I asked you to cooperate with my treatment years ago, you refused, but suddenly you want to try it?”
Sheng Xian had no intention of making small talk and asked calmly, “How much?”
Zhuang Chen replied, “I don’t want your money. Tell me the reason, and I’ll do my best to help you. If you won’t tell, I won’t treat. Go find someone else.”
Without hesitation, Sheng Xian stood up, “Alright then, goodbye.”

Blinking in surprise as Sheng Xian really began to leave, Zhuang Chen cursed softly and in the next second lunged to grasp his clothes, “Tell me, please. I’ll not only forgo your money, but I won’t take Jian Mo’s money either.”
Sheng Xian remained silent.
Zhuang Chen continued, “Come on, we’ve known each other for many years. I’ve helped you with everything, and I’ve told you everything. I’ve never kept secrets from you. What harm is there in telling me just one secret?”
Sheng Xian was still silent.
There was a pause before Sheng Xian said in an indifferent tone, “I met her.”
Zhuang Chen didn’t understand, “What?”
“I’ve encountered a girl I met a long time ago,” Sheng Xian turned to look at Zhuang Chen and explained slowly, “I don’t want to hurt her.”
