MTL - Once Upon a Time In Hollywood-Chapter 7 Friends out of thin air
Chapter 7 Making Friends out of Nothing
Since Roland felt that he was fine and wanted to go to the audition scene to have a look, David didn't persuade him too much.
Same as yesterday, after sending the Olsen sisters to Universal, David drove Roland to the Fox studio.
The reception hall full of people was so familiar to Roland.
While David and the staff checked the registration information form, Roland looked around.
When he discovered that a guy about his own age was sitting alone in the waiting seat opposite, a flash of inspiration flashed across Roland's brain like a broomstick.
Stretching his legs, he walked over in strides. At the same time, his face was filled with unexpected excitement.
"Hi! Jack! Why are you here!"
The sudden enthusiastic call made the blond boy in a daze stunned on the spot.
Looking up, he looked at Roland.
The slightly immature face was full of doubts and incomprehension.
Fortunately, the big ship has not yet appeared, otherwise, this guy will definitely think that Roland is memorizing his lines.
Looking around, seeing that Roland was indeed calling his name, the little guy shook his head decisively and denied, "Sorry, I think you may have misidentified the person. My name is not Jack."
"Oh, Jack, you're not joking!"
"I know you go to Fairyland Avenue Primary School!"
Although he knew what the other party said was true, Roland still did not believe in evil and said to himself: "I didn't expect you to come to the audition. I remember that you don't like acting? Why, you were forced by your parents?"
"No, you must have misidentified the person. My name is Leslie Robertson, and I go to Warner Avenue Elementary School."
Facing the extremely eager Roland, the blond boy seemed a little uncomfortable.
Moved his butt, turned his head and looked at the registration desk, with a puzzled and nervous look, very much like the star-nosed mole Specks who was about to lose his glasses.
Such a move was naturally seen by Roland.
He knew that the little guy in front of him might not be able to sit still.
This is Fox Studios, after all.
If the "old friend" Leslie Robertson in front of him yelled, it would not be fun.
So, following the opponent's repeated denials, Roland put away his confident smile, and apologetically performed the nirvana of making friends out of nothing, "Oh, sorry, then I may have admitted the wrong person, you and one of mine Friends, they look alike."
"Yeah?"
"certainly!"
Seeing that Roland's words did not seem to be fake, Leslie, who was about to call her mother, was relieved.
Like Roland, if it wasn't for the fact that the crew wanted to recruit inexperienced people, he wouldn't be pulled over by his mother.
Everything on the set was unfamiliar to him, but Roland's enthusiasm made him gradually relax.
Although before coming here, Leslie's mother told Leslie not to communicate with strangers.
But, no matter how defensive a child is, how can he beat Roland who is full of lies?
Roland in his previous life was experienced in many battles, and he was able to perfectly respond to questions such as "Will you give up your seat to the elderly on the bus", "Can you swim at home", "Will your parents call you when you go home late", etc. A series of difficult blind date problems, after these baptisms, even if he still can't sell the abduction, but it's still no problem to fool brother and kid.
After a few casual chats, Roland finished collecting Leslie's basic information.
The other party told Roland with certainty that this was his first time at Fox Studios, not only that, but also his first meeting with Roland; maybe every auditioner who signed up was the same as Roland, Leslie He also didn't get any information related to the movie from his mother; and with the return of Leslie's mother, Roland knew even more that this 'old friend' in front of him was ranked ahead of him in the assessment.
Looking at Leslie who was about to enter the arena, Roland clenched his right hand and waved towards him.
"Come on! Leslie!"
"Thanks."
Roland's every move has actually attracted David's attention long ago.
Looking at the smiling little guy beside him, although he still had doubts, David was in a good mood.
He brought Roland out just to let him relax.
If the audition would cause Roland such troubles as in the morning, then he would take Roland away without saying a word.
For him, the little star's salary for filming is not enough to fill his teeth.
His time is far more valuable than this audition opportunity.
If it weren't for Roland being the son of an old friend, he wouldn't be so concerned about Roland's inner health.
Looking at Roland's smiling face with great interest, he lowered his body with his arms around him, and asked in a calm tone, "Why—you know him? Are you classmates? Or friends?"
"No...we just met." Roland shook his head and denied.
"Really? I met new friends when I first came here? Ganetti will be very happy if he finds out."
The raised corners of his mouth could not hide the smile on his face.
The two looked at each other and smiled without saying much.
David is happy for the achievement of the goal, while Roland is happy for the same situation.
It has been confirmed that the day I live today is after the past yesterday. Roland felt so happy in his heart.
For him, the audition thing is useless.
After about five minutes, a frustrated Leslie walked out of the audition room.
Since the other party's mother was always by his side, Roland just smiled at the other party and gave up.
As for Leslie's audition results?
Isn't that already written on the face?
And when it was his turn to enter the room, all the procedures were exactly the same as yesterday.
Self-introduction, examiner questions, talent show.
Since everything Roland showed was not much different from yesterday, so Chris Columbus director and producer John Hughes, who was sitting behind the audition table, did not cast a surprised look at him.
With Roland's departure, everything is proceeding in an orderly manner.
Because Roland knew the result earlier and did not express any surprise, so that night, during dinner, Ganetti, who did not get any gossip, asked him about the audition overview.
“I think I performed well, but the producer and director seem to have been selected.”
The confident words made everyone happy.
Not only that, David, who was sitting on the side, added, "Although it didn't work out, Roland made a friend today."
"It seems to be from Warner Avenue Elementary School? Right Roland?"
"Of course, but—he seems to have failed, too."
The extremely casual question and answer made Ganetti smile like a flower, glanced at her husband, and after seeing him nodding vaguely, a feeling called joy immediately clung to her heart.
'It seems...the psychiatrist's suggestion is effective? '
'If this kind of activity can help Roland, in the future, it can actually be carried out more...'
Of course, these words are just for her to think about.
Every audition opportunity is actually something that can’t be found, but this time it was just luck that she hit it.
As for when is the next time?
She actually didn't know either.
However, even if she has no idea, it doesn't matter, because Roland doesn't care about these things at all.
What he wants to do now is to confirm the conjecture in his heart.
After eating, he was in a good mood and greeted everyone with a smile, then got up and said goodbye.
Crossing the courtyard, he didn't take a shower and go to bed immediately when he got home, but went into the study and moved the stack of comics inside back to the bedroom. Not only that, he also woke up the alarm clock and threw it into the study.
After doing all this, he washed up and went back to his room.
Lock the door and lock the windows.
After confirming that outsiders could not enter the house unless violent means were used, he climbed into the bed and fell asleep quietly.
Although he had something on his mind, Roland still fell asleep with the touch of a pillow.
That night, Roland had another dream.
He dreamed again—
I entered the industry by myself.
