Chapter 685: Dopey Bear On A Rampage

Lin Jin's treatment of Mr. Qi was a tightly-guarded secret to ensure zero disturbance. Miao Yan Zhenren had gone to extreme lengths to ensure this. As this issue was of great importance to the Mystery Dao Sect, no matter what happened to the sect, no one was to disrupt the process.

In Miao Yan Zhenren's exact words, 'Even if the sky falls, no one is to disturb us.'

Logically speaking, nothing huge should happen in such a short time. Of course, the world never worked logically.

As Lin Jin was occupied with treating Mr. Qi, something did unravel within the Mystery Dao Sect.

There was a loud rumble.

One of the sect's great halls was crushed to smithereens and the impact shook the entire sect. Then, they heard beast roars.

"What's going on?"

"I don't know, but there's a strong monster's aura overflowing."

"Gather everyone at once! Let's see what kind of monster dares to wreak havoc in our Mystery Dao Sect."

In seconds, most of the sect's disciples headed for the same destination.

Meanwhile, the giant spirit, Zuo Men, was so frightened his fingers were ice-cold and trembling. Huang Shi Sanren was dumbstruck. After regaining his senses a moment later, he shouted, "Zuo Men, what is going on?"

Not too far ahead, a large bear was smashing things to smithereens. Standing five hundred feet tall, every move it made carried great destructive force. With a sweep of its paw, it easily shattered towering rocks. The great hall looked like nothing but a sandcastle before it.

The level of destruction this beast was capable of was unfathomable.

Zuo Men answered helplessly, "Dopey Bear isn't listening to me at all! It's as if he has succumbed to madness. I should have kept an eye on him, or none of this would have happened!"

Zuo Men felt overwhelmed with guilt.

The rampaging giant bear was none other than Dopey Bear. Dopey Bear had grown three times its original size and its strength increased along with it. Even at full strength, Zuo Men failed to stop the bear's rampage.

Ever since following Lin Jin into the Mystery Dao Sect, Zuo Men and Huang Shi Sanren were treated as valued guests. The Mystery Dao Sect made sure they had a comfortable stay, and the sect even provided them unbridled access to their cultivation books.

Had it not been for Lin Jin, both loose immortals would never dare to dream of receiving such treatment.

They had no qualms about the hospitality they received. They even thought about returning the favor someday in the future. When Lin Jin was abducted by Yan Shenjun, Zuo Men and Huang Shi Sanren had brought Dopey Bear along to aid in the search. They only relaxed after Lin Jin safely returned. Just as they thought they would rest up, Dopey Bear suddenly went into a rampage.

Many of the Mystery Dao Sect's halls were destroyed and the place was a mess. Both loose immortals trembled as they watched their beast destroy the sect where they were staying as guests.

The Mystery Dao Sect had been so good to them, and this was how they returned the favor?

"Dopey Bear, stop at once!" Zuo Men was fuming and anxious. He had to stop Dopey Bear from causing even more havoc, even if it meant hurting the creature.

Zuo Men took a deep breath and his body glowed with spiritual light. Then, he grew twice his size. This was a transformation spell specialized for giant spirits like himself. Standing over a hundred feet tall, Zuo Men was still too tiny compared to Dopey Bear.

Zuo Men invoked an offense spell, but his attack did nothing for Dopey Bear. In response, Dopey Bear swiped its paw at Zuo Men, sending the man flying back.

Zuo Men spat out a mouthful of blood, indicating how badly injured he was.

Huang Shi Sanren grew irritated. He activated his sword and light began to stream from the yellow blade. It grew into a two-hundred-feet long crystal blade and slashed at Dopey Bear.

The might of this slash was enough to split a mountain in half.

Perhaps it sensed danger, Dopey Bear smacked against the blade, shattering it into pieces. The impact sent shockwaves that knocked Huang Shi Sanren out of the air. In the end, he was rendered unconscious.

By now, the disciples of the sect had arrived.

They saw how Zuo Men and Huang Shi Sanren were injured so they too went into attack mode. They couldn't care for anything else now. Even if they ended up killing Dopey Bear by mistake, it was inevitable.

They couldn't possibly allow this bear to continue destroying their sect.

What happened next exceeded their expectation. Despite Dopey Bear's gigantic size, the immortals thought nothing of it. As for the injured Zuo Men and Huang Shi Sanren, these men were loose immortals. Disciples of orthodox sects usually looked down on them and assumed that they were weaker than guided immortals.

These disciples firmly believed they could take the bear down in one hit.

However, the outcome was the complete opposite of what they thought.

Indeed, it took only one hit, but the ones that fell were the disciples of the Mystery Dao Sect instead.

Looks like Dopey Bear pulled its punches when it attacked Zuo Men and Huang Shi Sanren. Against other people, it wasn't as merciful. With one swipe of its paw, the world fell silent.

As an orthodox sect recognized as the strongest organization in this extraterritorial land, how could they allow a single bear to trash their place?

More experts arrived at the scene. They may be small in number, but their strength surpassed the disciples from before.

Among them were many of the sect's elders. Although they were half immortals, most of them were veterans just one push away from achieving the status of profound immortal.

'Something's wrong with this bear. The last time I saw it, it had spiritual intelligence so why did it suddenly go mad?" asked one of the elders.

"I don't know. We should subdue it first but be careful not to harm it as it is Mr. Lin's friend."

"Of course."

The elders had a quick exchange before getting to work.

A few of them working together formed a force equivalent to a profound immortal. Excluding Miao Yan Zhenren, this was the Mystery Dao Sect's strongest formation.

Some disciples who had yet to take action decided not to interfere with the fight. With the elders in the fray, they had no chance to shine, so they focused on carrying the wounded away. Despite a large number of injured immortals, they were easily transferred away through the use of spells.

"With the elders here, this bear is probably a goner," one of the disciples commented. Zuo Men, who was being carried away, was filled with worry.

He couldn't bring himself to beg for mercy.

"Sigh, Dopey Bear, oh Dopey Bear… If you die, you asked for it. You used to be such a woolly-headed creature. Why did you suddenly go on a rampage like this?"
