Chapter 108 - 108 - Aisha's Escape! Closer and Closer to the Top!

The garden of the Kingdragon Kingdom castle was an exuberant place, where flowers of various colors adorned the flowerbeds and a marble fountain spouted crystalline water at a tranquil pace.

In the center of this setting, a rustic wooden table was surrounded by King Leonard and his counselors. Seated there, alongside them, Rygar was discussing a diplomatic problem that had arisen in recent days.

"Then, Milis wasn't very happy with the death of their two pawns..." commented Rygar, with his arms crossed and a contemplative look.

King Leonard sighed and took a sip of his tea.

"Yes, it's a problem. Milis is the country closest to us after crossing the sea, lying between us and the Great Forest, and the influence of the Great Forest is still limited. Politically and logistically, this has generated tension and obstacles that we need to resolve."

Rygar listened attentively while his mind was already working on solutions. He pondered the possibility of recreating an earthen bridge connecting the two continents, something that could eliminate the exclusive dependence on maritime routes.

After all, if the separation of the continents was supposedly caused by magic in the legends, it wouldn't be impossible to reverse the process using magic itself.

However, he still did not master the magic necessary for a feat of that magnitude.

Although the spells he was learning at Saint and King levels of Earth could do something similar, but on a smaller scale. He felt that he could eventually improve them.

For now, a more practical solution was decided: the ships would have to skirt around the bay, and a new port would be built in the Great Forest.

The counselors seemed astonished by this proposal, murmuring among themselves about the audacity of the idea. Rygar, on the other hand, was more impressed by the fact that the entire world had only one port city capable of connecting the continents. The idea of relying exclusively on these specific routes was, to him, absurd.

In his previous world, there were so many ports even in the same country that it was hard to measure.

"Very well, then. The first step will be to ensure that the ships follow the coast to avoid unnecessary risks. The first voyages will be just tests," explained Rygar, while making mental notes about the necessary preparations.

He had already sent detailed letters to the commanders of the Iron Legion, both in the Great Forest and in Tinaver, instructing them to begin the construction of a new port city in the territory of the hobbits.

Since the sea voyage would be significantly longer, there would be a need to prepare supply stocks, define safe routes, and establish support points.

While the details of the strategy were being finalized, a gigantic crash echoed through the castle.

BOOOOM!

Everyone at the table instantly turned toward the source of the sound. One of the castle walls now displayed a considerable hole, from which water could be seen trickling down among the rubble.

Further ahead, a small figure was trying to walk stealthily, moving away from the crime scene with meticulously slow steps.

Rygar immediately recognized the silhouette and furrowed his brows.

"Aisha!"

The little red-haired girl froze in mid-motion, like an animal caught red-handed. Slowly, she turned with an expression that mixed forced innocence and a charismatic smile.

"M-Master?" she asked in a sweet, angelic voice.

Rygar crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow.

"That's not going to work on me, Aisha. It seems you forgot my lessons on the importance of caution when using magic."

Aisha laughed nervously, her eyes darting quickly from side to side, seeking an escape route.

"Well... it was just a little accident... you know...? Nothing serious!" She raised her hands, trying to downplay the gravity of the situation.

Rygar sighed and began to stand up. When Aisha saw the mischievous smile that appeared on his lips, she realized that things were about to get serious.

"Ah... Ahahah... well, I remembered that I have... to do... something!" said Aisha, before darting off in a desperate run through the garden.

"If there's anything else, Leonard, send someone so we can discuss it later," said Rygar without taking his eyes off his fleeing disciple.

King Leonard laughed heartily and crossed his arms.

"Your disciple is truly talented beyond comprehension, Rygar."

"Yeah, sometimes, that can be a problem..." Rygar murmured before quickening his pace after Aisha.

"MASSTERRRR! HAVE MERCYYY!" shouted the little one as she ran through the garden, her short legs moving at a surprising speed for someone of her size.

The king's counselors, who had initially been seriously discussing diplomacy, now watched the scene with incredulous and amused expressions.

Rygar, for his part, ran after Aisha with a playful look, while the little girl tried in every way to evade him, leaping over bushes and hiding behind statues.

The king merely shook his head with a smile on his face.

"Ah... children, maybe I should have a few more of them...?"

One of his counselors said, "Your Majesty, you already have more than thirty children..."

King Leonard became grumpy at having his plans frustrated.

---

A short while later, Rygar walked steadily along the beaten dirt trail, carrying Aisha in his arms.

Her clothes were still dripping water, and her face, creased with a slight frown, betrayed her discontent. Her hair, normally neat, was disheveled and stuck to her forehead, while droplets trickled down her childish face. Rygar looked at her and sighed.

"Aisha, I know that you understand the danger that magic represents, you are smart." His voice was firm, but not scolding.

"I noticed that you were trying to increase the mana in the water ball to make it stronger, and I let you do that so you could understand one thing. What you used was similar to a Water Cannon, an intermediate-level spell..."

Aisha continued with her cute, irritated expression, but her eyes shone with curiosity as she listened. Rygar observed her for a moment before continuing.

"You saw the destruction that a single Water Cannon can cause, didn't you?"

She lowered her gaze a little, reflecting, and slowly nodded.

"I saw it, Master..."

Rygar smiled slightly and continued.

"Now imagine what an Saint-level spell could cause? Or even an Emperor-level one? And what if these spells were used randomly like that Water Cannon? My master, Verdia, told me something when I was learning magic, back when I was very young."

He paused, recalling Verdia's words.

"She said: 'Magic exists to remind us that limits are meant to be challenged and that even the impossible can be molded by the right hands. Controlling magic is understanding its unstable nature, but also respecting it. That is what separates a talented mage from a foolishly reckless one.'"

Aisha, who had been just listening before, now paid attention with complete seriousness. Her eyes shone with the same intensity as when she learned something new. Rygar raised an eyebrow and asked in a teasing tone:

"Will you be a foolishly reckless one, little Aisha?"

The girl quickly shook her head from side to side, her expression determined.

"I won't, Master!"

Satisfied with the answer, Rygar smiled and tousled her hair, causing the wet strands to become even more disheveled. Then, with a casual gesture, he used magic to completely dry her, leaving her hair in a cute, messy style, which made Aisha mumble and try to fix it.

When they finally arrived at the temporary house, Rygar raised his gaze and noticed something unusual: there was no one training outside. That was rare.

Instead, Skoll was lying on his back in the grass, pretending to be dead, his dark brown fur gently moving with the wind. When Rygar arrived, he jumped from his sleep and went inside the house as well.

Rygar furrowed his brow and inhaled deeply, catching the familiar scent of food. That explained the disappearance of the others. He entered the house, still holding Aisha in his arms.

Inside, he found the group gathered around a table full of snacks. Eris was in the middle of the conversation, animated, gesturing enthusiastically as she narrated her battle.

"But then, even though I managed to land that blow and seriously injure her, she started healing herself with unenchanted magic just like Rygar! And then she used several of those ice fragments to push me away again!"

Eris exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with the excitement of the memory.

Ghislaine was seated nearby, petting Skoll, who had now moved to lie beside her.

Her gaze was calm and disinterested, as she already knew the story. Eidar and Lilia, however, listened attentively. When Rygar and Aisha approached, all eyes turned to them.

Eris soon turned to Rygar, crossing her arms.

"Rygar, tell them about that elf's magic! They don't believe me!"

Eidar cast a curious look at Rygar, a bitter smile on his face. Rygar sat down at the table and rested his elbows on the wooden surface after leaving Aisha with Lilia.

"I don't know how much Eris exaggerated the story, but that mage was really strong. In fact, I thought she was a child by her appearance, but now I remember that Ornthorn also looks like a child, and he is over 80 years old, right?"

Ghislaine, who had remained silent until then, finally raised her gaze and murmured:

"That is true... After all, that mage didn't act like a child. She seemed very mature and experienced in combat."

Rygar became pensive for a moment. Eris, impatient, interjected again.

"And what about that mage with the helmet?!"

Ghislaine narrowed her eyes and answered firmly:

"As for him, I think he is too powerful to be a child." Her voice was resolute, leaving no room for doubt.

Rygar, however, disagreed, raising his eyebrow.

"But I am only twelve years old... And Aisha can already cast intermediate magic at three years old. Why couldn't someone else like that appear?"

Ghislaine frowned, confused, while Eidar interjected, his voice laden with skepticism.

"But why would children be out there with a group of mercenaries?"

Rygar tilted his head, pondering.

"Hmmm... At first, I thought he was a dwarf or a hobbit, but then, by his movements, I thought he might be a child. But he didn't act like one..." He paused, searching for the right words.

"How can I say? It's a feeling? He was afraid of me, but not like a child. In the end, I couldn't say. But even if they are excellent mages, they can't win if a Sword Saint is close enough. So, if they go to Milis to cause trouble, Weys can take them down. And if not, when I return from the Sword Sanctuary, I'll hunt them down myself. Especially that mage with the stone helmet... He is very dangerous. He will probably become very famous in the near future. Until then, he will be easy to find."

The others nodded, reflecting on Rygar's words. The conversation continued for a while as they kept eating, but Lilia seemed pensive, her gaze distant.

Rygar noticed and raised an eyebrow.

"Did something happen, Lilia?"

She blinked a few times and offered a small smile.

"No... I was just letting my thoughts wander..."

Rygar didn't pay much more attention when Lilia changed the subject and turned to Eidar with interest.

"Have you already tested your new weapon and armor?" he asked.

Eidar nodded enthusiastically, pointing to the black plated armor adorned with golden details that was hanging on the wall.

"Yes! I even fought against that guy, Lwis, with it! Of course, I lost in the end, but it was a good fight. They are great. That guy may be eccentric, but he is an excellent blacksmith. The quality is much superior to my old armor."

He raised the sword, similar in color to Nighthunter, to show it. Just like the armor, the blade boasted the dark shine of Erathium.

"I've never used anything like this before. The name of the sword is Darkprey."

Rygar nodded, satisfied. King Leonard had highly praised the blacksmith's skill and said that this dwarf had been with the Kingdom for several generations.

They continued talking about trivial matters, exchanging comments about the city, recent events, and future plans. There was a lightness in the air, something rare after so many battles and challenges.

At that moment, Rygar realized how lucky he was.

He had countless problems and challenges in this life, but at the same time, he always found the tools to overcome them.

His talent, his teachers, his subordinates, his allies, his friends... He looked up, observing each one of them in the room.

Ghislaine, who had already saved him twice, first at Joylore mansion and now in the ambush, remained serene, listening to the conversation as she idly ran her hand through Skoll's fur. She was now his first wife, something he had never even had in his previous life.

Eris, seated beside him, animatedly gesticulated about literally any subject. Unexpectedly, she had also saved his life that last time.

He smiled as he realized that he still treated her like a child, but, technically, she was a child trained to kill. A warrior with an unshakable spirit, whose mental strength allowed her to move forward without hesitation, as long as there was a path to follow.

Eidar had been with him for five years. They had fought side by side, trusting their lives to each other. The warrior maintained his unwavering faith in Rygar, following him without hesitation.

Skoll, lying beside Ghislaine, was a living example of the loyalty that canines have for their masters. Rygar knew that if he were in danger, Skoll would give his life for him without a second thought.

And there was also his little disciple, Aisha, and her mother, Lilia. Even though Hitogami's counsel had led Rygar to them, he felt that, somehow, they were destined to meet.

Turning his gaze toward one of the windows, Rygar observed the night sky.

The journey to the capital had been full of turbulence, but he believed that, in the end, everything happened for the best.

Despite all the commotion and the tasks still ahead of him, his life seemed strangely peaceful.

Then, his thoughts carried him to a distant future. He imagined himself with all his friends and family gathered in his tribe, or perhaps in a kingdom he would create in the Great Forest. He saw himself traveling the world, without restrictions, free to explore any place he wished, with the strength necessary to never be held back.

He knew he was already close to the top. The level of an Emperor. The last step before the legendary God level.

A smile appeared on his lips.

"I'm getting closer to the top..." he murmured to himself, determined.
