Mute Mate: The Alpha's Obsession-Chapter 203: The Arrival of the Vampires
"Where is Zavren and Zekel? The visitors are here already," Queen Diana spoke as she tried to keep a calm voice, but the worry was still in her tone.
The maid lowered her head respectfully, and just as she was about to speak, a voice spoke from behind.
"Mother, worry not. Everything is going to be fine," Zekel said. He understood that his mother would be worried, especially given that another species of visitors were visiting.
The vampires rarely visited—perhaps once every month. Not really rare, but sometimes they usually chose to stay long, or leave that same day. However, Zekel was sure they would be staying longer this time, as there would be a ball in a week’s time.
Queen Diana finally turned to him with a warning glare at how nonchalant he was acting. He was now wearing a princely attire matching the color of the queen’s gown.
"Let’s go," she said as she turned, but then halted and turned back to him.
"Where is Zavren?" she asked, and Zekel spoke calmly,
"He is at the dining. See? I said you should not worry," he said calmly as the queen finally relaxed. They walked to the large door.
"Remember, be on your best behavior and do not play with your cutlery. That knife is not a sword, Zekel," the queen warned as Zekel nodded calmly. He was the kind who sliced meat like he was fighting, and still, the king and queen wondered why he derived immense joy from doing such.
The guards bowed as they opened the door. The queen walked with grace, but her heart began to thud loudly in her chest as the scent of different perfect meals moved through her nostrils. She walked with elegance, maintaining a calm and serene expression.
The long table was filled with different delicacies of food and drinks of all sorts. They had prepared a lot, including the ones the vampires would like as well.
Diana moved her gaze as her eyes finally landed on Zavren. He looked calm—so calm—as his eyes were fixed on a particular food. It was like his gaze was scanning the ingredients and all.
He turned as she noticed Zekel sitting. She finally shifted her gaze, and it locked on the king’s. Her heartbeat raced immediately as she tried her best to act as normal as possible.
She walked with grace as she reached the seat beside the head table where the king sat. She sat with grace after giving him a bow.
No one had begun eating yet, as it seemed the vampires were not even around.
"King Zoltar, are the Royal visitors not coming again?" Queen Diana decided to ask, not liking the fact that they had not begun their meal.
"They will be here any time. We can begin our meal when they join; they’ll eat," he said. They nodded as Diana took her cutlery and began eating. She moved her gaze to Zekel, who seemed to be whispering something to Zavren, but Zavren did not reply or give any expression. That could only mean he was telling Zavren something.
"Zekel, is there something you would like to tell us as well?" Diana asked, curious about what her sons knew.
"Oh, Mother, it is a secret between Zavren and I," Zekel spoke with a wide smile as Zavren’s expression remained calm as he cut the meat.
"Secret? Now I am curious. Right, King Zoltar?"
She turned to her husband with a wide smile as Zoltar’s body froze from her beautiful and breathtaking smile.
"Yes, of course. What did you tell Zavren, Zekel?" the king asked as his eyes moved from his wife and landed on Zekel. Zavren was usually calm, so he knew his son, telling him to talk was like talking to a wall—because he was not going to say anything.
"If you tell your mother, I will take you to the swordsmanship training tomorrow morning," immediately those words left the queen’s mouth, Zekel’s lips parted in surprise.
He knew that this was very tempting, and he could regret missing it. He knew how long he had begged his father to go there, and he had told him it was too risky for him. And now, all of a sudden, his father wanted him to tell his mother the so-called secret for something huge.
"I was just telling Zavren about the vampire king," he spoke as Queen Diana’s eyes widened, as she knew her sons were not interested in the vampires, and it was usually her who reminded them about the dinner.
"What about the king?" Diana asked as Zekel shrugged, moving the fruit drink to his lips. He took a gentle gulp before dabbing his lips, and then he continued.
"I heard his son would be coming too. He is the same age as Zavren," he said as silence fell. It was now understandable—what he had said. The vampire king usually came alone; he was not the kind to actually come with anyone, and him bringing his son was something new.
Zekel held a smile on his lips as he could not wait till tomorrow so he could go for swordsmanship. Zavren just remained calm as he ate with perfect etiquette. No one knew what was going through his head, not even the king.
The king had finally called it his nature.
Just as Queen Diana was about to speak, the main door opened and a man walked in. His silver hair was swept cleanly back, his dark red eyes calm and emotionless. His presence was very intimidating—just as intimidating as the werewolf king’s own.
Beside him entered a young boy. His silver hair, similar to his father’s, was packed up into a bun. Unlike his father, who did not have long hair, he had long hair, and it seemed he had no intention of cutting it off at all.
His gaze was calm and distant, and he gave the kind of look Zavren gave—very bothered and not willing to talk. They walked to the long table where different meals were placed. The vampire king sat at the other side; beside him, his son sat.
"I apologize for my lateness, King Zoltar. It seemed like my son was still deciding whether to come or not," he spoke as the werewolf king gave a curt nod of understanding.
"You don’t have to worry about that, King Raphael. What matters is that you are here. Let’s eat," he spoke as the vampire king nodded. He moved his eyes, and they finally landed on Queen Diana, 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Who raised her head to steal a glance—but their eyes immediately locked. Just as it did, she shifted her gaze, but before she could turn, her hands trembled in nervousness. The glass cup slipped from her hands and fell to the floor with a loud crash.
