Chapter 69: Chapter 69

A student with a skull tattoo on his arm jumped up and punched the kid hard, right on the chin.

The kid was struck and sent flying to the side, landing on the ground and convulsing slightly

The group of students smirked triumphantly. The guy with the skull tattoo shouted. "I’m the main force of the school’s boxing club. With this punch, he won’t get up for at least a week! This is the consequence of eyeing my girlfriend!"

I held Nora tightly, thinking even I probably couldn’t handle such a beating.

To everyone’s surprise, the kid stood up like nothing happened and said. "Had enough for today? I haven’t had lunch yet."

The students were clearly shocked and taken aback.

The tattooed student, now furious and embarrassed, went over and started another round of beating.

When he finished, panting heavily, the kid was still standing there, blood dripping from his head, with an indifferent look on his face.

They were completely pissed off and ready to gang up on him. Seeing that, I stepped forward and shouted, "Stop!"

They all turned to me when they heard my voice. One of them sneered, "Seriously? Standing up for justice? What do you want to do?"

Nora, though scared, still held my hand.

I was pleased with her reaction, patted her hand, looked at the person speaking, and casually said, "Nothing, just that he’s my friend. What do you want? Let’s see if I can make it happen!"

The kid looked at me, visibly shocked, with a mix of gratitude and confusion. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

"You’re his friend? This kind of guy has friends too?"

All the students burst into laughter.

I stood there, looking indifferent.

Nora looked at me admiringly.

As the students laughed harshly, for the first time, I saw a painful expression in the beaten boy’s eyes.

This only made me more determined to help him. Before, I had only seen contempt and hatred in his eyes, never fear or terror.

"Since you’re his friend, he owes me ten thousand dollars. You can help him pay it back!" The tattooed student sneered, his eyes constantly darting to Nora’s figure.

"Ten thousand dollars?" I felt a bit awkward hearing the amount.

I didn’t have much pocket money left, and I’d spent quite a bit recently. I really couldn’t come up with ten thousand dollars. Just as I was about to ask Nora for a loan, she pulled out a thick stack of cash from her bag and tossed it on the ground.

There was definitely more than ten thousand dollars there, and as soon as they saw the money, they pounced on it like dogs.

"Kevin, is that enough? If not, I have a few more cards," Nora said, frowning at me.

I was a bit surprised. I pinched her nose and said with a smile. "I’ll pay you back tomorrow!"

To my surprise, Nora turned her head away and ignored me, saying. "Don’t say that. I don’t need you to pay me back!"

"You’re lucky today. If I feel like hitting someone in the future, I’ll come to you!" The tattooed student said, looking back at the beaten boy.

Then the group left, satisfied.

"Nora, let’s go." I smiled and nodded at the thin boy, then turned to leave.

Apparently, the thin boy didn’t expect me to leave just like that. After a moment of hesitation, he shouted at my back, "Can I be your henchman in the future?"

I stopped in my tracks, a smile on my face, and said, "It seems like you haven’t eaten yet. You need to be well-fed to have the strength to fight. I don’t want my henchman getting beaten up every day!"

He wiped away the tears that had started to flow and said with a smile. "My name is Brooks Lopez, and I will be your henchman from now on! If anyone wants to mess with you, they won’t succeed unless I’m dead!"

I brought Brooks to the fifth-floor cafeteria, ordered more than ten dishes, and Nora, who was snuggled up next to me, paid the bill as usual.

Brooks wolfed down the food, occasionally looking up and smiling at us, clearly very hungry.

I handed him a glass of water with a smile. "Don’t worry, no need to rush. Even if I have to rent the whole floor for you to eat, it’s no problem. The person next to me is a rich lady, much richer than me!" I joked.

Nora coquettishly rolled her eyes at me, and Brooks blushed slightly when he looked at Nora, but I was too busy joking around with her to notice.

"Why were they bothering you?" I asked.

Brooks put down his utensils and said nonchalantly. "Maybe because I look like an easy target."

Seeing my somewhat indifferent expression, he felt a surge of panic and unease in his heart and immediately said seriously. "Don’t worry, if anyone bothers me again in the future, I will definitely beat them down!"

Seeing me nod slightly, he finally relaxed and continued eating.

I took a sip of water and asked. "What are their identities?"

Brooks, gnawing on a chicken leg, said, "They are all members of school clubs. They don’t study; instead, they cause trouble everywhere. They even collect protection fees every day and rob students from other schools."

"Clubs?" I muttered with curiosity.

It looked like it was time for me to form a team. I wasn’t really clued in about what was going on at school. Honestly, I didn’t care much. The only thing that caught my eye were the pretty girls.

Brooks started talking about the school clubs, then turned to me and asked, "So, which club are you in?"

I grinned and said. "I’m not in any club. By the way, you don’t even know who I am, do you?"

Brooks looked confused, scratching his head with a sheepish smile. He had no idea who I was.

I confidently stroked Nora’s smooth face and said, "I’m Kevin Woods."

"Kevin? You mean the infamous ladies’ man who’s always chasing after beautiful girls?" Brooks blurted out, surprised.

Nora giggled, snuggling closer to me. She teased. "So, you’re that famous!"

I placed my hand on Nora’s chest and playfully asked, "Nora, has it gotten bigger here again?"

Nora blushed, not expecting me to touch her chest in front of Brooks, and she was so shy that she lowered her head.

The sensation made her press tightly against me, her face turning even redder.

Brooks quickly looked away, pretending not to see anything.
