My Alleged Husband-Chapter 24 Departure_1
After arguing with Xia Jing, Zhang Zhentian left the Zhang family home to look for Old Master Zhang at Zhang Corporation. At the same time, ever since Zhang Zhentian had left the company privately, Old Master Zhang had been searching for him everywhere. Once Xia Jing left, Old Master Zhang knew that Zhang Zhentian had abandoned his post to see Xia Jing.
At the entrance of the Chairman’s office at Zhang Corporation.
Just as Xia Jing arrived at the door of the Chairman’s office, she was stopped by the secretary of Old Master Zhang.
"Miss Xia, you can’t go in. Please wait until I ask the Chairman. You can enter only after he agrees," the secretary said to Xia Jing, bowing.
"Move aside, I must go through this door today." Xia Jing was already very upset by what Zhang Zhentian had said to her at the Zhang family’s home, and now being stopped by Old Master Zhang’s secretary made her feel even more uncomfortable. She could only vent her anger on this innocent secretary.
"Miss Xia, you really can’t go in. The Chairman hasn’t agreed yet," the secretary said to Xia Jing, still performing her duties: "Would you wait while I go in and notify the Chairman?"
"Fine, please go and notify him. I will wait for you here." Seeing that the secretary to Old Master Zhang was treating her with such a good attitude, Xia Jing felt bad about making it difficult for her.
Hearing Xia Jing agree to what she had said, the secretary quickly knocked and went in to ask for Old Master Zhang’s opinion. Old Master Zhang was on the phone when she entered his office.
"Knock, knock, knock." The secretary knocked on the door of Old Master Zhang’s office.
"Come in," answered Old Master Zhang, lying in his swivel chair without lifting his head.
When the secretary walked in, Old Master Zhang, seeing his own secretary come in, said to the person he was speaking with, "I’m busy right now, I’ll call you when I have time."
"Is there something you need?" asked Old Master Zhang of his secretary.
"Chairman, Miss Xia has asked to see you, I don’t know whether you will see her or not?"
Old Master Zhang was puzzled. What could Xia Jing want with him? He decided to first ask his secretary if Zhang Zhentian had returned to the company yet.
"Let her in! And, has Zhentian come back to the company? He came to talk to me about something, and before we finished, he took a call and left," Old Master Zhang asked his secretary.
"Chairman, your son hasn’t come back to the company since he left this morning," the secretary replied to Old Master Zhang respectfully.
"Alright, I know. You can go out now, let Xia Jing come in," Old Master Zhang waved his hand to dismiss his secretary.
"Miss Xia, our Chairman invites you in," the secretary said to Xia Jing as she came out of Old Master Zhang’s office.
"Thank you."
Knock, knock, knock... Xia Jing knocked and entered. The moment Old Master Zhang saw Xia Jing, he seemed to know that her visit was not for anything good.
Seeing that Old Master Zhang did not look very happy, Xia Jing took the initiative and spoke up, "I’m sorry to disturb you at work, Uncle."
Upon hearing Xia Jing say this, Old Master Zhang’s uneasy feeling grew stronger. He thought, could it be that Xia Jing had come about the incident with Li Jiayuan and the apology?
As if reading his mind, Xia Jing saw Old Master Zhang’s expression turn serious and she said, "Uncle, I am not here regarding the apology to Li Jiayuan. I have come to see you today for a different matter."
Old Master Zhang felt somewhat relieved to hear Xia Jing say that, but what she said next sent a chill down his spine.
"Uncle, although I am here for something else, I still want to ask about the Li Jiayuan matter," Xia Jing said, watching as Old Master Zhang’s mood, once brightened, was again dragged down into darkness by her words. Xia Jing felt a bit guilty, yet she couldn’t avoid seeking clarity.
"Well then, ask away!" Old Master Zhang sighed as he spoke to Xia Jing.
"Uncle, when I arranged to meet with you before, didn’t I explain the entire situation? Didn’t I also admit my mistakes, and you said that in order to receive your forgiveness, Jiayuan has to forgive me first, right? Did I, or did I not, agree to apologize to Jiayuan?" Xia Jing asked, somewhat displeased, Old Master Zhang.
"Yes, that’s right, you did explain everything to me at the time, and I did indeed say that to forgive you, you’d have to obtain Jiayuan’s forgiveness first. Although you didn’t explicitly say you would apologize to Jiayuan, you had implicitly agreed to do so. But what of it?" Old Master Zhang asked, puzzled, Xia Jing.
"Haha, you make it sound so easy. What do you mean, ’What of it?’ Since I had implicitly agreed to apologize to Jiayuan, I certainly would go. Why then did you have Zhentian come to me time and again, asking me to apologize to Jiayuan? Moreover, before I met with you, Zhentian had already seen me and I had told him the entire story. So why did you do this?" Xia Jing’s anger began to flare up. Old Master Zhang felt slightly perturbed upon hearing Xia Jing’s words.
"What do you mean I had Zhentian repeatedly come to you to make amends to Jiayuan?"
"Uncle, I still address you as ’Uncle’. I understand why you were initially against me being with Zhentian, but after everything that has happened, haven’t you seen what kind of person I am? Am I the kind of person who would dare to do something and not own up to it?" Xia Jing now raised her voice at Old Master Zhang.
"Xia Jing, as your uncle, I see very clearly: you are not that kind of person. There is a misunderstanding here, I did not send Zhentian to find you and insist that you apologize to Jiayuan." Old Master Zhang patted Xia Jing’s shoulder and explained.
"Uncle, whether there’s a misunderstanding or not is no longer important to me. The main purpose of my visit today is to tell you that I’m planning to leave." Xia Jing smiled at Old Master Zhang.
Old Master Zhang, hearing Xia Jing’s decision, was at first unable to process it.
"What, what? You’re leaving?" Old Master Zhang exclaimed in surprise to Xia Jing.
"Yes, Uncle, I’ve decided to leave. Zhang Corporation is doing very well now; there won’t be any problems. Please take good care of yourself in the future."
Having said that, Xia Jing tried to walk away, but Old Master Zhang called out to her in haste: "Xia Jing, wait, does Zhentian know about your decision to leave?"
"Uncle, I have already seen Zhentian before this."
"Did you tell Zhentian about your decision to leave?" Old Master Zhang asked again, "Can you tell me what today’s meeting with Zhentian was about?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"Uncle, to be honest, my meeting with Zhentian today was regarding Jiayuan’s matter. I was planning to ask Zhentian to accompany me to apologize to Jiayuan, but he said some things that made me not want to stay here anymore."
"I knew it, Zhentian was supposed to discuss something with me at the company, but he left suddenly after receiving a phone call. He went to see you, didn’t he?"
"Yes, but our discussion didn’t end well. I want to leave first. Uncle, I hope you can keep this a secret for me, not tell Zhentian, okay?"
"Sigh, do you really plan not to tell Zhentian?" Elder Zhang asked Xia Jing.
"Uncle, let’s not tell him. The things he said today really hurt me. Perhaps in Zhentian’s heart, I still do not love him enough." Having said that, Xia Jing managed a weak smile at Old Master Zhang.
"All right, I won’t meddle in your affairs anymore. What to do next, you decide for yourself." Old Master Zhang felt resigned regarding Xia Jing’s decision to leave.
"Uncle, please keep this a secret for me." Xia Jing pleaded, looking at Old Master Zhang.
Seeing Xia Jing like this, Old Master Zhang also felt reluctant to let her go, but ultimately, he agreed to Xia Jing’s request and didn’t tell Zhentian about Xia Jing leaving.
"Okay, I promise to keep it a secret, but once you’ve reached your destination, remember to give me a call to let me know you’re safe," Old Master Zhang said kindly to Xia Jing.
"Um, thank you, Uncle. I will be on my way now. Please take good care." After speaking to Old Master Zhang, Xia Jing left without looking back, her eyes brimming with tears at the moment of her departure. Xia Jing also felt reluctant; she knew in her heart that Old Master Zhang was a good person, but with the situation having escalated to this point, she had no choice but to leave.
