My Amnesic Ex Married My Sister, So I Married His Uncle-Chapter 119: How Thoughtful, Mr. Rhodes
Owen Rhodes smiled gently, but the look in his eyes brooked no refusal.
Stella Sterling lowered her gaze, pouting in dissatisfaction.
She had to admit, she’d once had a moment of weakness, completely bewitched by Owen Rhodes’s body.
But!
She just didn’t realize Owen Rhodes could be so... insatiable!
When Owen Rhodes saw Stella Sterling sigh in resignation, he froze for a second.
’Am I that intimidating?’
But thoughts were just thoughts. His hand, seemingly with a mind of its own, reached out and pinched Stella Sterling’s cheeks, which were slightly puffed out in a pout.
Stella Sterling’s skin was flawless—fair, supple, and so fine you couldn’t see a single pore.
At first, Owen Rhodes only dared to caress her face and kiss her as a form of comfort when they were in the heat of the moment.
But as time went on, these small, affectionate gestures from Owen Rhodes became increasingly natural.
Including, but not limited to—
He would always hold her hand when they were walking outside. In a crowd, he’d wrap his arm around her waist to shield her. When he spoke to her, he would lean down close to her ear. And he would frequently pinch her cheeks or the tip of her nose...
And so on and so forth.
Stella Sterling found it a little strange at first, but now she had more or less gotten used to it.
Mostly, it was because Owen Rhodes’s hands were large and warm. Being with him gave her a profound sense of security.
She had to admit, she liked the feeling.
That was why she didn’t mind being close to Owen Rhodes in the slightest.
For lunch, the two of them returned to Lanthos Bay.
Because Stella Sterling’s hand had been injured, Owen Rhodes had been especially attentive to her during meals these past few days.
He was so cautious and doting that Stella Sterling felt less like she was injured and more like she had regressed to her toddler years, unable to care for herself.
’She even suspected that if it had been her right hand, Owen Rhodes would have probably just started feeding her himself.’
’Just the thought of it...’
Stella Sterling shivered, shaking off a wave of goosebumps.
’It’s just too weird.’
Just as she was lost in thought, a low voice drifted over. "What’s on your mind?"
She looked up and met a pair of deep, cool eyes.
For some reason, Stella Sterling was reminded of the night Owen Rhodes had too much to drink and kept pestering her, asking if she was thinking about Ethan Rhodes.
She shook her head and replied, "I was just thinking, Mr. Rhodes, that I’m only injured, not an invalid."
Owen Rhodes faltered.
He and Stella Sterling weren’t sitting across from each other.
He was sitting right beside her. Having just peeled a boiled shrimp, he’d dipped it in sauce and was holding it to her lips, waiting for her to take a bite.
Owen Rhodes only paused for a second before saying quite naturally, "Open up."
Stella Sterling obediently took a bite of the large shrimp. Then she heard Owen Rhodes say—
"Spit out the tail."
Stella Sterling: "..."
Then, she obediently spat out the red shrimp tail along with the small piece of shell still attached to it.
’Thank goodness he didn’t hold out his hand to catch it,’ Stella Sterling thought.
She hadn’t even swallowed the one in her mouth before Owen Rhodes was holding out another freshly peeled shrimp.
He wasn’t in a rush, simply holding the shrimp and waiting patiently.
Stella Sterling glanced at him, about to tell him to eat it himself.
As if he knew exactly what she was thinking, Owen Rhodes spoke before she could.
"Eat up. The protein will help you recover."
Stella Sterling: "..."
’So thoughtful, Mr. Rhodes.’
Scenes like this had become a common occurrence at Lanthos Bay recently.
Tate peeked out from the kitchen, then smiled to herself and walked away.
’How wonderful. Sir and Madam are getting along better and better.’
And so, with Owen Rhodes feeding her, Stella Sterling finished her lunch.
Stella Sterling had woken up early, so she was resting on the sofa watching TV.
But it wasn’t long before the post-lunch carb crash hit her.
Owen Rhodes walked over with a plate of sliced fruit, just in time to see Stella Sterling slumped languidly on the sofa. Her eyelids were growing heavier by the second, and she looked about to fall asleep at any moment.
With a smooth turn, Owen Rhodes took the fruit platter back to the refrigerator. By the time he returned, Stella Sterling was already fast asleep.
He didn’t wake her, simply carrying her back to the bedroom.
The midsummer sun was scorching, especially around one or two in the afternoon—hot enough to fry an egg on the pavement.
Although the villa’s air conditioning was running, the master bedroom faced south, basking in sunlight. As he walked in now, the entire room felt warm and cozy.
The moment she was laid on the bed, Stella Sterling’s eyes fluttered open briefly. Seeing Owen Rhodes, she naturally closed them again and went back to sleep.
This left the man, who had been about to give her a good-afternoon kiss, frozen with his lips slightly puckered in an awkward pout.
The awkwardness lasted only a second, though. Her being asleep didn’t stop him from kissing her.
A set of sheer curtains was drawn in the bedroom, filtering out the harsh glare and casting a soft, gentle light across the room.
Stella Sterling slept soundly, her features relaxed and content.
Owen Rhodes unconsciously brushed his knuckles against her cheek. As if sensing the touch in her sleep, she snuggled closer and nuzzled against his hand.
The phrase "a picture of tranquil bliss" suddenly felt tangible.
He had intended to put her down and head to the office, but now, he found his feet were rooted to the spot.
After a few seconds of internal debate, he walked over to his side of the bed and lay down, deciding to take a short nap with her.
’Not for long. Just twenty minutes.’
Knowing her sleeping habits, he instinctively pulled her into his embrace.
This time, however, the woman in his arms didn’t settle into his embrace as peacefully as she usually did.
For some reason, the sleeping woman let out a few unhappy murmurs and pushed him away.
Owen Rhodes froze, his brow furrowing.
’What’s going on?’
’Doesn’t she love sleeping in my arms?’
’Why is she pushing me away today?’
He was being careful of her injured left arm, which she was unconsciously flexing in her sleep, so he hadn’t been holding her too tightly.
He even shifted back a little to give her space.
He did it, but he wasn’t happy about it. Not happy at all.
He watched her quietly for a moment.
Stubbornly, he moved in again, pulling her back into his arms.
Two minutes later, she started pushing him away again.
Owen Rhodes’s expression darkened. Propping his head up with one hand, he stared dangerously at the blissfully unaware woman.
Just then, Owen Rhodes noticed something glistening on her forehead. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
An idea came to him, and he quickly put it into action.
Using the smart home control panel on his phone, he silently lowered the air conditioning in the master bedroom.
And then, he waited...
Sure enough, five minutes later, the very person who had been so insistent on pushing him away was now burrowing into his arms as if she’d found her way home.
Owen Rhodes froze. It seemed he was only just now realizing why Stella Sterling always ended up snuggling into his arms in her sleep.
’So that’s how it is. She’s been using me as her personal furnace.’
’Fine. But this furnace isn’t going to run for free.’
He immediately sent a message to Tate: [Tate, from now on, set the master bedroom’s AC to 24 degrees.]
Her phone chimed, and Tate took it out to check. She was just about to reply when—
Owen Rhodes: [Lock the control panel. Don’t let anyone touch it.]
Tate: "?"
Tate was confused, but she replied: [Understood, Sir.]
Only then did Owen Rhodes put down his phone. Contentedly holding her in his arms, he closed his eyes and began his nap.
