My Antique Mirror Is A Portal To Another World-Chapter 54: Offerings
Chapter 54: Offerings
As Bai Hanyun began to panic, she saw Feng Xiyan stand up and leave the commander’s tent. Reflexively, she called out to stop him, "Feng Xiyan, wait!"
But unlike what she hoped, Feng Xiyan didn’t hear her voice and left without looking back. Seeing this, all the energy drained from Bai Hanyun’s body.
Slumping back onto the bed, she turned to the antique mirror beside her and asked with a hint of sadness and reluctance in her voice, "Is this the end of my extra income?"
Staring at the unresponsive antique mirror, Bai Hanyun let out a long sigh and muttered, "Never mind. I will just try again later."
With that, she placed the antique mirror back on the bedside table and resumed watching her drama on the laptop.
Meanwhile, after Feng Xiyan left his tent, he went to join the soldiers for lunch in the dining area.
Seeing that their Great General had come to dine with them, the soldiers were flattered. They all stood up, clasped their fists, and greeted Feng Xiyan in unison, "This subordinate greets the Great General!"
Feng Xiyan nodded to them and replied, "No need for formalities. Just enjoy your meal."
Hearing this, the soldiers smiled and responded, "Yes, Great General."
After Feng Xiyan took a seat, the chief chef came over in a hurry. Wiping his wet hands on his apron, he asked, "Great General, what would you like to eat for lunch today?"
Feng Xiyan turned to look at him and replied, "Just give me the same as the other brothers."
"Yes, Great General," the chief chef responded, and quickly went to prepare the meal.
Before long, a kitchen staff member came with a tray of food. After placing it on the long wooden table, he said, "Great General, please enjoy your meal."
Feng Xiyan nodded at him and said, "Thank you."
When the other soldiers saw Feng Xiyan eating alone, they wanted to join him, but they were afraid of disturbing him.
While they hesitated, Zhan Qi spotted Feng Xiyan and walked up to him. Seeing this, the other soldiers were disappointed and could only sit at other tables.
Placing his tray down, Zhan Qi sat beside Feng Xiyan and said, "Great General, it’s rare to see you eating here."
Feng Xiyan looked at him and replied, "This general just wanted to see if the soldiers were satisfied with the food."
Hearing this, Zhan Qi laughed. "Only a crazy person would dislike food like this."
As they chatted while eating, more and more soldiers arrived for lunch. Every time they saw Feng Xiyan and Zhan Qi, they greeted them before getting their food.
Five minutes later, Feng Xiyan and Zhan Qi finished their meal. Just as they were about to leave, one of the soldiers walked up to them.
Standing before Feng Xiyan, the soldier clasped his fists and said, "Great General, thank you for letting us enjoy this delicious meal. I will work hard to guard the border and not let you down!"
Hearing this, Feng Xiyan shook his head.
He then patted the soldier on the shoulder and said, "The one you should thank is not me, but Heaven. It is thanks to Heaven’s blessing, who sent Fairy Bai to save us, that we survived the Yuezhi Tribe’s attack and can eat food even better than what the Emperor enjoys."
When Feng Xiyan said this, the soldier raised his head.
He had heard rumors that their supplies came from Heaven, but had found them hard to believe. However, now that Feng Xiyan himself confirmed it, he had no choice but to believe.
Though doubt still lingered in his heart, the soldier knelt down and bowed to the sky. "Thank you, Heaven, for protecting us."
When the other soldiers saw this, they put down their chopsticks and spoons. Following the soldier’s example, they all knelt on the ground and bowed to the sky.
In unison, thousands of soldiers said, "Thank you, Heaven, for protecting us!"
As the soldiers of the Feng Army sincerely expressed their gratitude, golden particles of light—though invisible to the human eye—floated out from their hearts and rose into the sky.
When the golden particles floated past the clouds, something happened to the antique mirror on Bai Hanyun’s bedside table.
The moment the golden light particles flew over the third layer of clouds, they floated out from the antique mirror’s surface. They were then instantly absorbed by the antique mirror and disappeared without a trace.
After the antique mirror absorbed all the golden light particles, it shone for a split second, and the originally blurry surface gradually became clear.
Meanwhile, after expressing his gratitude, the soldier who had spoken to Feng Xiyan stood up and took out a wooden hairpin from his sleeve pocket.
Holding it with both hands, he said, "Great General, I carved this hairpin for my fiancée, but she passed away last month. I have nothing valuable in me, but I would like to offer this hairpin to Heaven in thanks for its blessings."
Feng Xiyan looked at him for a moment, then accepted the hairpin. He looked at the soldier and promised, "This general will inform Fairy Bai that you offered this hairpin as a token of gratitude."
The soldier smiled and clasped his fists. "Thank you, Great General."
When the other soldiers saw this, they looked at each other. The same thought formed in all their minds—they too wanted to offer something to thank Heaven for its blessing.
Looking at the soldiers’ expressions, Zhan Qi raised an eyebrow slightly. After a moment of thought, he turned to Feng Xiyan and asked, "Great General, when will we build a temple for Fairy Bai?"
The moment he spoke, the soldiers’ eyes lit up. In the next second, they all looked at Feng Xiyan eagerly, waiting for his answer.
Surrounded by thousands of expectant gazes, Feng Xiyan replied thoughtfully, "This is indeed an important matter."
He pondered for a few seconds, then continued, "This general will ask Fairy Bai for her opinion."
