Chapter 261: Alvaro

Ashton was way too tired for anything when he collapsed, which is why he was surprised to wake up in a place thatโ€™s been long forgotten to him. His home, the very first one he remembers. Things were so surreal that he believed he was dreaming. ๐’‡๐ซโ„ฏ๐‘’๐’˜โ„ฏ๐‘n๐‘œัต๐žl.c๐—ผ๐—บ

He walked below only to be greeted by his parents, his real parents... whose face he had long forgotten. โ€œMom, Dadโ€ Ashton whispered. He couldnโ€™t believe his eyes. He looked at himself, to see if he was young or not, which to his surprise he wasnโ€™t.

โ€œYouโ€™re just on time! Breakfast is ready! Hurry upโ€ His mother called. Ashton blinked, mesmerized by the voice he never thought he would ever hear again.

He opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out. He ate in silence as his parents chatted with each other affectionately. The food tasted just the same from when he was younger, probably tasted even better. But who could tell?

He wasnโ€™t sure what was happening. Why was he in this place at all? What was this place anymore, he didnโ€™t know. โ€œI have to goโ€ Ashton declared and stood up from his chair immediately. He needed to find out whatโ€™s going on.

His mother shot him a glare, โ€œAsh, I made breakfast for the whole family youโ€™ll finish every bit of it!โ€ Ashton blinked at her. She was just as strict as she was when he was a boy, except he didnโ€™t hate her scoldings anymore.

โ€œIโ€™ll be back. Just a secโ€ He excused himself. His โ€˜motherโ€™ assumed that he was going to the washroom or something until he walked right out of that door.

.....

He wanted to look at the surroundings, to see if he could figure out what was happening. And thatโ€™s when he met him...His Wolf... Standing face to face with him.

โ€œDid you... Did you do all thisโ€? Ashton asked. Never in his entire life did he ever speak to his wolf, always shunning him away because he was too difficult to control. He didnโ€™t even know how to. Which is why this moment was big for both of them

โ€œYes, I am channeling my memoriesโ€ The wolf replied in a much deeper and aggressive voice. Ashton wondered if thatโ€™s how he sounded like when he gave the wolf control.

โ€œWhy did you bring me here?โ€ Ashton asked, hesitantly.

โ€œI didnโ€™t. You came here yourselfโ€ The Wolf explained.

โ€œNo, I didnโ€™t. What is this place evenโ€? Ashton snickered and looked around himself.

โ€œThis is the cage you created for me, I just made it more homey for usโ€ The wolf declared. โ€œWhy are you hereโ€? The wolf asked.

โ€œI.. I dunno. I donโ€™t remember coming hereโ€ Ashton looked around frantically. โ€œI.. I did want to talk to you though. But that was days agoโ€ Ashton sighed.

โ€œThat must be it,โ€ The Wolf nodded. โ€œWhat do you want from me? I suppose you are not here to free me from this prison or relinquish control?โ€ His wolf remarked.

The way he spoke was quite similar to Ashton, which made sense given how he was just another part of Ashton. โ€œI want to know everything. Things that you hide from meโ€. Ashton declared.

โ€œThere is nothing much left for me to tell youโ€ the wolf looked away.

โ€œBut...โ€ Ashton trailed off, when another question popped into his head. โ€œWhat should I call you?โ€

โ€œYouโ€™ve referred to me as โ€ your wolfโ€ your entire life. I guess you can keep calling me thatโ€ His wolf declared.

โ€œBut, donโ€™t you have a name? You are clearly different from me...โ€ Ashton wondered.

โ€œI suppose I donโ€™t.โ€ The wolf mused. โ€œBut itโ€™s better that wayโ€. He shrugged.

โ€œWhat do you meanโ€? Ashton squinted.

โ€œIn the world that you live in, I shouldnโ€™t exist. If the word goes out, theyโ€™ll come after you... just like all those years agoโ€ The wolf spoke.

โ€œYeah, but they didnโ€™t get me last time,โ€ Ashton insisted. โ€œWhoever they are, they are my parentsโ€.

โ€œYour parents were never the target, it was always youโ€ The Wolf declared. โ€œTo the world youโ€™re a pureblooded Alpha, stay that way. Donโ€™t try to be anything elseโ€ His Wolf warned him.

โ€œBut, I am not! I am not just some pureblooded Alpha, I am half-Valestine as well!โ€ Ashton argued. โ€œI canโ€™t just ignore that part of me. I am sick of pretending to be someone I am notโ€! Ashton huffed.

โ€œFor you sake, I hope you learn. I wonโ€™t be able to protect you the next time. Or your loved ones,โ€ The wolf declared before looking away. Following his gaze, he noticed his adopted family chilling with Caleb and Connor at a faraway distance. It wasnโ€™t just him anymore, it was a bunch of people he cared about.

โ€œWhat do you want me to doโ€!? Ashton snarled at the wolf, as the thought of something happening to any of them because of himself crossed his mind.

โ€œLieโ€! The wolf declared. โ€œI want you to lie about your origins. Donโ€™t share the fact that you have connections with Valestine Wolves.

โ€œWith whom would I share it with?โ€ Ashton rolled his eyes, recalling he wasnโ€™t exactly a friendly guy. โ€œThe only person who knows about it, is Calebโ€.

โ€œKeep it that way. He is our mate, and he is the purest of our kind. Donโ€™t share with anyone else.โ€ His wolf nodded. โ€œYou should leaveโ€. His wolf declared.

โ€œBut, whyโ€? Ashton tilted his head.

โ€œThis is your prison, so you canโ€™t get trapped in here.โ€ The wolf nodded. โ€œBut it still disconnects you with yourself. The more time you spend here, the harder it will be to returnโ€

โ€œAnd how do I get backโ€ Ashton asked.

โ€œThat... is something for you to figure out. I have no idea.โ€ The wolf sighed. โ€œMaybe try going back to the people of real worldโ€? He suggested.

โ€œOkay.. Iโ€™ll give it a tryโ€ Ashton nodded and closed his eyes, only to reopen it immediately. โ€œWait, I am willing to lie but that doesnโ€™t erase your existenceโ€. Ashton spoke.

โ€œYou want me to disappearโ€? Dejected, the wolf asked.

โ€œNo, what I mean was, since you exist, you need a nameโ€ Ashton cleared his throat.

โ€œYou have anything in particularโ€? His wolf tilted his head, finally giving into Ashtonโ€™s idea of him having a name.

After a moment of deep thought Ashton mumbled. โ€œAlvaroโ€.

โ€œAlvaroโ€? The wolf tilted his head. โ€œI like that,โ€ he nodded. โ€œNow leaveโ€! He urged.

Ashton shook his head, and tried really hard to wake up. No matter what he did, he failed to do so. It started to worry him until he heard the words, โ€œAsh! Ashtonโ€! Coming from a place he couldnโ€™t locate. It sounded like Caleb was trying to wake him up and therefore Ashton tried much harder to wake up.
