Chapter 28: 28. The Lava Rock Mines.

"So, when are we leaving?" Diana asked.

"In five days time."

"Five days? Why?"

"It’s like you said, the mines are a dangerous place to venture into, especially with the demonic beasts occupying that territory, so we’ll need to be well prepared for anything before leaving the city. Also, Princess Aurora is currently preoccupied with taking care of the guards, and once she’s done with that, she’ll need a few days to rest before she can be ready to join us on our next expedition."

"I understand, but staying here for the next five days and doing nothing will be boring."

"It won’t be, and if you’re really bored, then you could always train on your own in the training room," Aaron suggested and Diana pondered over his words.

"Hmm, come to think of it, it’s been a while since we last sparred with each other."

"Yeah, that’s true."

"So, what do you think? Would you like to spar with me again?"

"I thought you wanted me to rest more, now you want me to spar with you instead of resting?"

Diana chuckled a bit at how Aaron slowly shifted away from her. "I don’t mean now, silly. I meant tomorrow."

"Oh, tomorrow, huh? I guess I could work with that."

"Splendid, then it means we’ll be having a training session tomorrow morning," Diana concluded and stood up from her seat.

"Goodnight Baron, and make sure you arrive on time," She bowed towards Aaron before excusing herself from the courtyard.

Aaron didn’t say anything as Diana left. He simply sat and watched her leave the courtyard with hurried steps and a cute smile on her face.

The next five days came and passed by in a flash. Now, everyone had everything they needed to explore the mines.

Currently, the group was standing at the entrance of Lava Rock Mines. It was a massive cavern mouth that seemed like it had been carved from a jagged mountain.

There were faint wisps of smoke drifting from cracks in the stone and the thick scent of sulfur also filled the air.

The four of them ventured deeper into the mines but no one was able to spot a single red mana crystal.

Aaron stepped forward and gripped his sword tightly. Meanwhile, Glimmer trotted beside him. Her ears twitched, and perked up at every sound she heard; she was completely ready to attack if she saw a demonic beast.

"Stay sharp, everyone. This place is as likely to collapse on us as it is to house dangerous creatures," Aaron cautioned, and everyone had their eyes peeled.

They ventured deeper into the mines and their footsteps echoed off the stone walls. The dim light from glowing patches of magma provided just enough visibility for everyone to navigate the mines, but Glimmer suddenly stopped and let out a low growl.

Aaron froze and activated his skill {Scout’s Insight}.

His holograms darted forward to take a look at what Glimmer had spotted and the moment they saw it, A new system notification popped up in front of him.

Aaron read the information provided by the system and watched as small, glowing creatures emerged from the dark part of the cave.

Their bodies were like that of serpents, but it was also made of molten rocks and their movements were a bit jerky. They hissed and their eyes glowed as they locked on to Aaron and the girls.

"They’re small, but they’re made of magma. Don’t let them touch you," Diana warned everyone while unsheathing her sword.

Aurora nodded in understanding and so did Aaron.

The magma creepers slithered towards the group with rage and Aaron swiftly reacted by instructing everyone on their next course of action. "Diana, you know what to do. Glimmer, flank them. Your Highness, stay back and be ready to support us with water-based spells."

Everyone nodded and sprung into action. The first Magma creeper lunged towards Aaron but he sidestepped it and slashed the serpent.

He activated {Electric Touch} the moment he attacked, and this allowed the electric sparks in his hands to coil around his sword.

The creature hissed in agony and exploded in a burst of molten fragments, forcing Aaron to shield his face from the explosion.

"Be careful, Baron. These beasts are unstable when destroyed, so they’ll explode and might hurt you," Diana informed Aaron before returning her focus back to the demonic beasts in front of her.

She easily dispatched two of the creatures that lunged toward her with quick and precise strikes.

Meanwhile, Glimmer darted around the final creeper to distract it long enough for Aurora to launch a water-based spell.

A huge spear made completely out of water hovered behind Aurora and shot straight toward the last magma creeper, and the last beast exploded into tiny magma rocks upon contact.

The mine fell silent once again as the remains of the magma creepers slowly disintegrated into ashes. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

And with that out of the way, the group ventured deeper into the mines. It didn’t take them too long to reach a chamber filled with glowing red crystals jutting out of the walls and floors.

The heat in the room was also intense but the mana crystals shimmered and brightened up the chamber.

"Are these red mana crystals?" Aurora was the first to voice out her thoughts and Diana replied to her question.

"Yes, Your Highness, they are."

Of course, Aurora could guess that they were red mana crystals, but she had never seen one before until today, which was why she had asked Aaron to confirm that she was right.

Meanwhile, Aaron approached the crystals with an outstretched hand, and the moment he touched one of the crystals, a system prompt appeared before him.
