My Beast Evolution System-Chapter 70. Lunar City.
A streak of lightning rained down from the sky while icicles shot out of the ground but Aaron continued to charge toward the huge beast.
But as he did, a portion of the ice underneath his feet suddenly lifted him up like a springboard.
The electric sparks crackling in his fingertips resonated with that of his sword and his sword flew straight back to his hands.
Meanwhile, Aurora, Glimmer, Thunder and Blizzard all aimed their long ranged attacks simultaneously at the large serpent but just before the basilisk could counter their attacks, a loud deafening roar pierced through the wind and the ground underneath the serpent crumbled down, forcing the huge snake to fall into a large pit with sharp, spiky rocks that pierced into the thick skin of the serpent.
The basilisk screamed out in pain but Aaron pierced his sword into the skull of the beast as he falls into the pit with the snake.
A huge dust cloud rose up to the sky and everyone walked closer to the pit to see if the serpent was dead or not.
"Is it dead?" A knight asked.
"I don’t know," Another replied.
Diana and Aurora were close by as well but neither of them said anything, however the look on their faces showed just how worried they were.
Everyone continued to stare anxiously into the pit, hoping for the dust to clear in time and of course, to see if the beast was dead as well.
But Aurora couldn’t wait any longer, so she swiftly cast a wind magic spell that cleared the dust away in a flash, allowing everyone to see the sharp spiky rocks that were tinted in the serpent’s blood while Aaron stood on top of the large beast head.
Aaron pulled out his sword from the beast head and he yelled out in victory. The knights erupted into cheers and everyone screamed out loud in glee.
Aaron continued to shout out as well before watching as the Rockbear returned back to its little cubs.
Initially, the hugs bear was surprised to see that Aaron actually confronted the huge serpent, it didn’t want to help him but Rockbear knew that this might only be the chance it would ever have to attack the basilisk from its blindspot, hence why Rockbear helped Aaron in creating a huge pit underneath the basilisk.
Now, with Hidden Vale and Stonewood Hollow reclaimed, Aaron and his men stood as bastions of hope in the elven kingdom. He and everyone else decided to rest briefly before setting their sights on their final target which happened to be Lunar City.
As the group prepared to move, Kain’s team arrived at the outskirts of Stonewood Hollow. His warriors were injured and many had demon blood splattered on their armor and swords.
They were able to successfully claim one out of the three targets Aaron had requested them to conquer, but unfortunately for Kain and his men, they were unable to reclaim the remaining two locations.
However, Aaron wasn’t disappointed in them. He was just glad to see that many of them had returned back alive and that was all that mattered to him.
Kain and his men were given a healing potion to help heal their wounds and once every single one of them were ready, everyone continued their march to Lunar City.
The path to Lunar City was treacherous and the forest was dark as always.
Aaron kept his beasts close and they were able to easily dispatch any demonic beast they encountered on their way to the city.
It didn’t take long for them to arrive at the city and just as before, the demonic beasts in the city didn’t really prove too much of a threat for them to handle.
A few minutes later, Aaron and his team approached an abandoned sanctuary.
Unlike every other place within the city, everyone could see that the sanctuary had a high concentration of miasma oozing out of the building and this could only mean that an artifact had to be inside the building.
And so, with this thought in mind, Aaron and everyone else stepped into the building in search of the artifact.
Finding the artifact wasn’t easy because of how concentrated the miasma was. Also, the demonic beasts they encountered tried their best to ruin their day..
In the end, the city was completely cleared and there was not a single beast present in the city.
Many of the elves found it hard to believe they had successfully reclaimed the city but once the realization dawned on them, they celebrated and cheered loudly until Aaron announced that it was time for them to return back home.
On their way back home, the knights had their spirits lifted but they were still visibly exhausted as well.
There were smiles on their faces and everyone couldn’t wait to return back to El Dorado to inform the townsfolk of what they had accomplished so far.
Upon arriving back to the capital, Aaron and his team were welcomed with cheers and applause right after they crossed the gates.
Humans and elves stood side by side and their faces were alight with hope. Aaron dismounted Thunder and his little sister rushed straight to him before wrapping her arms around him.
He comforted his little sister before addressing his knights and people who circled around him.
A three-day festival was announced to help cheer up the mood of the knights and to give them enough time to rest before returning back to the elf kingdom to reclaim the remaining two locations yet to be cleared.
And just like that, El Dorado became filled the sounds of laughter, cheering and music which reached till night time.
Aaron walked among the crowds and he acknowledged the greetings of everyone who came to thank him. Of course, his three beasts trailed behind him and everyone were equally in awe by the three evolved beasts Aaron had successfully tamed.
Songs of Aaron’s heroics and monster slaying story was slowly being formed and everyone in the barony respected and recognized him as the young Baron who slayed the basilisk.
The townsfolk were in utter awe and admiration of their young Baron. The respect of his knights and archers had risen tenfold and all would willingly lay down their lives for him if he willed it.
And why wouldn’t they?
The things he had achieved were no joke and the rise of his growth wasn’t a matter of be taken lightly as well.
Never before had a seventeen year old reclaimed a dying barony, tamed bloodcurdling beasts and slay the ferocious basilisk.
These were things that could only be achieved in a dream and maybe a bedtime stories.
It wasn’t normal for a Seventeen year old boy to do the things he had done but yet, here he was, standing before them all, with his beasts trotting proudly behind him with a smirk on their faces.
Of course, Aaron knew that Rockbear and his beasts played a huge role in defeating the basilisk, so he never allowed the praise he received to go to his head.
In fact, he was more focused on their next adventure, but for now, he just wanted to relax and have fun before doing anything else.
While walking, Aaron noticed Diana standing at the edge of a crowd. She was watching as everyone were singing and laughing.
Aaron approached her and offered her a drink. "Not joining the fun?" he asked.
Diana took the cup and replied with a smirk. "Someone has to keep an eye on things and besides, I’m not much for dancing,"
"But you’re allowed to have fun though," Aaron chuckled as he clicked his cup with hers.
"I’ll think about it," she replied with a smile before returning her gaze back to the crowd dancing in front of her.
The two continued to chat before calling it a night.
On the second day of the festival, Aaron and the girls decided to take a break from the crowds. They gathered in a quiet meadow, just outside of the city to spread a huge blanket beneath the shade of a large tree.
Of course, his beasts tagged along with Glimmer darting around to chase after small insects while Thunder grazed nearby.
As for Blizzard, the huge wolf lay in the shade but there were no other beasts aside from these three.
Aaron was still interested in increasing his bond with Rockbear, especially since the huge bear had helped him in taking down the basilisk, but Aaron had made up his mind to approach Rockbear when he believed the time was right.
Also, he didn’t forget the promise he made to the little cubs, so he was really interested in seeing the bears again.
"This is nice," Luna uttered out while passing around food to everyone seated on the blanket. "Having a picnic with everyone is simply the best,"
"I agree," Aurora added as she leaned back against the tree while feeling the cool breeze caressing her skin.
"Don’t get too soft, your Highness. There’s still plenty of fighting left to do," Diana smirked faintly while stretching out on the grass.
