Chapter 66: Chapter 66 Gravity Lifted

The System chimed in Zane’s mind.

Ding!

[Initiating Mana Core Formation Protocol...]

[Initiation succeeded!]

Suddenly, Zane felt a vast reservoir of mana inside him begin to churn and spiral. He didn’t resist. He knew this must be the System’s doing.

He closed his eyes and focused inward—directing his consciousness down to his lower abdomen, just below the navel.

Because he still had All Seeing Almighty Vision activated, everything related to mana was vividly visible to him. His spiritual sight penetrated his body like divine insight.

And there—he saw it.

A thick dam. Massive. Looming.

A barrier of condensed force that held back the surging tide of misty, swirling mana. The energy on one side of the dam was agitated, crashing like furious waves—desperate to break through, but helpless before the wall.

That must be the block—the Mana Dam.

I need to break it to begin the core formation... Zane thought to himself, his eyes glowing with determination.

The waves of mana continued to batter the dam, strike after strike, but the wall didn’t even flinch. Fifteen minutes passed, and nothing changed.

Then—

Ding!

[The Mana Blocking Dam is too sturdy to break.]

[Note: The stronger your potential, the sturdier the dam. Greater strength requires greater trial.]

[Only the Host can destroy this barrier. It is part of your essence. External help is prohibited.]

Zane clenched his fists, unsure whether to feel proud or frustrated.

"A strong dam means high potential... great." He exhaled. "So how do I break it, then?"

Ding!

[Suggestion: Use every skill you possess. Channel all spells and willpower into your mana. Assault the dam until it collapses.]

He grinned. "Fine. Let’s try it your way."

With a focused breath, he activated Divine Radiance, bathing his mana in holy brilliance. Then, he molded the swirling energy using Divine Strike, compressing it into a spear of light within his core.

This wasn’t a typical cast.

This time, the skills manifested within his body. The mana was not expelled outward—it was directed inward, toward the dam. Zane braced himself, half-expecting searing pain or internal damage.

Outside, the sudden surge of light from Zane’s body didn’t go unnoticed.

A brilliant white glow burst from within him, radiant as a second sun.

Erlin gasped. "Something’s happening! That can’t be normal—what if he’s in danger?"

Shelby held out an arm to stop her. "Stay calm. Don’t interfere."

"But he’s—!"

"I said no," Shelby said firmly. "This is his moment. Let him fight his own wall."

Back inside Zane’s body, the spear of Divine mana collided with the dam.

Boom!

But... nothing cracked. Nothing changed.

Zane winced. "System, how come my skill didn’t damage me at all?"

Ding!

[Full body analysis complete.]

[Damage was inflicted, but your reconstructed internal structure—thanks to the mysterious Seed—has become exponentially more resilient. Your body is no longer as fragile as it once was.]

Zane’s eyes widened. "The Seed again..."

What is this seed? Who placed it in me? Why does it protect me like this?

Questions circled in his mind like vultures, but the System remained silent.

With a grunt, he turned his attention back to the dam.

Fine. If Divine power won’t break it... I’ll go darker.

He narrowed his eyes.

"It’s time for something heretical."

Shelby is sitting right beside me... Should I really use this?

Zane hesitated for a breath.

His mind wandered back—reminiscing about the day he first met Shelby, the training, the discipline, the unexpected care. If I have to trust someone... it should be him. Despite all of Shelby’s roughness, Zane had never once doubted his integrity.

Whatever. I must do it. It’s now or never.

"System," he said silently, "help me activate my Villain Skill."

This was his first time using it, and like before with his Hero Skill, the System would guide its first activation.

Ding!

[Activating: Demonic Blood and Soul Capture]

Suddenly, hundreds of eerie voices echoed in his mind, chanting in a sinister, arcane tongue.

Next to the dazzling white mana swirling in his core, Zane saw something new—dark mana—inky and pulsating, forming like a storm of shadows.

"Huh? Where did all that come from?" he muttered.

Ding!

[That darkness has always resided within you. It’s the result of karmic residue—the remnants of every prey you’ve slain. Upon their deaths, their energy released traces of darkness mana, which you absorbed unconsciously.]

Zane snorted. "And now it’s helping me. Karma, huh?"

He recalled the three auxiliary spells tied to the Villain Skill. He considered his options, then settled on the second one:

"Monsterification."

"System," he asked, "can I use Monsterification—not on myself, but shape that mana into a separate entity?"

Ding!

[Confirmed. Casting Monsterification externally.]

Symbols lit up in his vision—arcane signs circling like a ritual.

The swirling darkness condensed, twisted, and formed into a small humanoid shape. As the fog dissipated, Zane saw a miniature version of himself... composed entirely of black mana.

He extended his will toward it—and it responded, obeying like an extension of himself.

"Yes," he whispered. "This will do."

He directed the shadow-Zane toward the dam. It charged, punching the wall of mana with feral power. Thud. Thud.

But again—no damage. The dam remained still, unmoved.

"Tch," Zane clicked his tongue. "Fine, then. What if I use both sides of myself?"

He summoned the white Divine mana to his left. The black Villainous mana on the right.

"Let’s see if you can still stand tall like Buddha," he murmured. freewebnøvel_com

Then, under his precise control, the two forces—Light and Darkness—struck the dam together.

Crack!

A thin fracture.

His heart surged.

Again.

BOOM!

More cracks webbed across the massive barrier. The pressure on the dam increased exponentially as both divine and demonic energies rammed it over and over.

And then—with a thunderous internal explosion—the dam shattered into oblivion.

Both mana flows surged forward like twin rivers suddenly released from their prison. They swirled, collided, and began spiraling around each other.

Zane watched with awe as the two manas began to condense, compressing tighter and tighter, forming a unified core in his lower abdomen.

It grew smaller. Denser. Brighter.

Then finally—stabilized.

A crystal-like core emerged within him. Half radiant white. Half pitch-black. A small glowing star pulsed within its center.

Ding!

[Mana Core Formed Successfully!]

Zane’s eyes snapped open.

He stood up slowly—feeling like a completely different person. Every breath, every heartbeat resonated with raw power. The gravity trap was still active, but he didn’t feel it anymore.

It was like the crushing pressure had been reduced to mere feathers.

Shelby stood waiting, arms crossed, a proud smile on his face.

"I could feel the tremor of your breakthrough," he said. "Congratulations on forming your first core."

Erlin called out joyfully from behind, "Are you okay?"

"I feel amazing," Zane replied, his voice calm but buzzing with newfound strength.

"Then that marks the end of this training," Shelby declared. He raised one foot and casually stomped the ground.

To an outsider, it looked light and effortless.

But Zane knew better.

That stomp carried the weight of hundreds of millions of kilograms. The ground quaked slightly—and the gravity trap exploded, collapsing into scattered particles of broken mana.

Zane stepped forward to walk toward Erlin—but his body, still attuned to twentyfold gravity, suddenly reacted to the normal environment. His legs moved too lightly—his step turned into a leap.

He was about to soar straight into the air—completely losing balance—when Shelby casually caught his leg mid-flight.

"Woah there," he chuckled. "You just got out of twentyfold gravity. Your body’s still calibrated to that pressure. Adjust yourself before you float off like a feather."

Zane landed softly, laughing sheepishly. "Duly noted."
