Chapter 71: Chapter 71 Demonification
Ding!
[Beast Transformation: Successful!]
[Sebastian – New Stats:]
Strength: 1322
Agility: 1312
Intelligence: 1274
[Warning! Danger Detected!]
The werewolf’s current strength far exceeds yours in all attributes.
Recommendation: Retreat or activate the Heretic Skill — Demonification.
Zane narrowed his eyes at the prompt.
"Retreat like a coward? That’s not going to happen," he muttered firmly. "But if I use Demonification... Shelby’s probably watching. The moment I activate it, he’ll know it’s a villain’s skill."
The hesitation weighed heavily on him. He knew what using the heretic skill meant—how it might change how others saw him. Especially Shelby.
Eren remained nearby, refusing to flee.
Zane locked eyes with the beast. Despite the transformation, there was still a trace of intelligence in Sebastian’s eyes.
"He’s still conscious," Zane murmured. "He’s become the beast, but he hasn’t lost control."
The massive wolf snarled, its muscles tensing before it launched at him like a blur. It was faster than before—far too fast.
Zane dropped low, narrowly avoiding the beast’s gaping maw, but he wasn’t quick enough to avoid its claws. A searing pain tore down his back as four deep gashes split open from his shoulder to waist.
He grunted, stumbling forward as blood poured freely. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
Ding!
[Health Reduced: -1450 HP]
[Remaining Health: 950 / 2900]
The alert flashed bright red. One more hit like that and it’d be over.
Zane clenched his fists.
Hero, villain—none of that matters now. This is about survival. If Shelby thinks I’m evil just for using this... then maybe he’s not the friend I need.
With a growl of pain and resolve, Zane made his choice.
Meanwhile, the werewolf stood back, licking the blood from its claws. Then it looked up at Zane—not like an enemy—but like prey. That look alone made Zane’s blood boil.
"Oh, screw this," he snarled. "Let’s end it."
He pressed his hands together and began forming a rapid series of hand seals. His voice echoed with strange syllables as he chanted the mnemonic spell, activating the power buried within.
Deep within his core, the peaceful mana crystal began to spin—counterclockwise. As it rotated, black energy surged outward, flooding his veins. Darkness poured into every fiber of his being.
His body began to transform.
Dark green skin crept across his frame. A pair of curved horns emerged from his forehead. His muscles expanded, and his aura darkened. A wicked pulse of power rolled off him like a shockwave.

Zane rolled his shoulders. Power surged through his limbs like never before.
His pain dulled. His senses sharpened. His body felt lighter—and far more dangerous.
He fixed his gaze on the massive werewolf. Crimson eyes burned like coals.
"For the next fifteen minutes," he muttered, cracking his neck, "I’m the nightmare you should be afraid of."
Meanwhile, Shelby and Erlin continued to watch the fight intently from their perch atop a tall tree. At first, they had seen Zane dominate. But soon, the tide had turned—he was now the one being hunted.
Erlin licked the grease from her fingers and said, "This is getting bad. I have to help him."
"Sit down, little princess," Shelby replied, calmly scooping another bite of bone marrow paste. "You’re too weak right now. Going there would only get in his way. This is part of his training. Struggle sharpens the blade."
Erlin couldn’t argue. She knew she was nowhere near Zane’s level, let alone those two monsters he was facing. She hadn’t even formed her mana core yet.
Still, her eyes stayed locked on Zane’s wounded body. "Can’t you help him? Just this once? I’ll pay you in beast mana cores."
Shelby glanced at her sideways. "Ah, here comes the real negotiation." He chuckled. "Thanks, Sugar Mama, but I’ll pass. He’s holding up just fine. I’ll step in if it becomes really necessary."
He nudged the bucket toward her lap.
Suddenly, they both froze.
"What’s happening?" Erlin asked, her voice tense. "He’s changing. Is this one of his skills?"
Shelby leaned forward, frowning deeply. "I... I’m not sure. That aura—it’s corrupted." He exhaled slowly, eyes narrowing. "It’s a heretic skill."
Erlin went pale. "Then stop him!"
Shelby’s expression turned unreadable. "No. Skill alone doesn’t define a person. It’s what you do with it that matters."
Erlin gasped as two horns pushed out of Zane’s forehead and his skin took on a dark bluish hue. "What are those?"
"Horns," Shelby said. "But... compared to Sebastian turning into a full beast, Zane’s transformation seems tame. His body... it reminds me of the Supreme God Krishna from Mahabharata—dark and divine."
He folded his arms, silently admiring the sheer spike in Zane’s strength.
The battle would end soon—Shelby could feel it.
Then Erlin added, "Big Brother Shel, I think I finally know who Sebastian Hemp really is."
"Oh?" Shelby raised a brow. "Surprise me."
"He’s a prince from the Southern continent. The Alpha Kingdom... a werewolf kingdom."
Shelby’s eyes widened slightly. "So, he’s a spy?"
She nodded. "Exactly. A Southern prince hiding in our land. What better way to scout enemy territory?"
Shelby smirked. "Then I guess we’re doing your people a favor. Maybe you’ll thank us later."
Erlin scoffed. "Thank you? My husband’s doing all the work. You’re just sitting here eating."
Shelby coughed into his fist—twice.
She wasn’t wrong.
Back on the battlefield, the fight took a new turn. The massive wolf was still on the offensive, but Zane no longer tried to counter. He let the beast strike him.
Claws ripped across his flesh. Wounds opened. But the damage was minor now—his regeneration was outpacing the pain. He could end the battle at any moment.
But he didn’t.
Instead, he used the opportunity to test the full limits of his new form. To observe. To learn.
Within minutes, Zane’s body was covered in shallow wounds. His shirt was in tatters. His pants shredded.
This werewolf is interesting, he thought. It’s adapting fast. But unfortunately for it—I’m just stronger.
Then his system prompt blinked.
[Demonification Timer: 03:00 Remaining]
Zane exhaled slowly.
"Alright... that was a good warm-up." His body flickered and vanished.
"...Let’s end it."
