Half a year had passed since the London incident.

As "London Game: Continuation" had been fully confirmed, it was set to begin a year and a half later.

The event was understood to correspond to an invasion battle of a much larger scale, where nearly all medium-to-large Land Deed areas received "game invitations," including various Element Bodies.

At the same time, Night’s mother officially announced the "Trial Policy on London City’s Full Opening."

Almost all Demons, and even some wild bodies before they became Demons, would join the influence of some Old King.

Therefore,

Most of the "Loose People" had been affiliated before, but were exiled due to their mistakes.

An Exile Mark would be branded upon them, leading to rejection by other forces and even persecution and imprisonment by certain extremist groups.

The complete open policy of London City immediately attracted a large number of "Loose People," trying to start new lives here... Of course, this definitely included some who were extremely evil.

Here they not only avoided rejection, but with good behavior, they could easily obtain a Resident Permit.

If they made contributions, they might even receive blessings from Mythic Bodies or even the Old King.

However, once in London City, they must follow local rules, like maintaining a "human guise" within the City.

Among them, there were occasionally some special Investigators... and our story will focus on two such special Investigators.

In the transitional area between Dark Forest and London City—the England Basin—

Villages directly managed by the Church were scattered throughout the basin, where rituals too sinister for London City, secret research, and the execution of serious violators took place, serving also as a form of outpost.

Stone paths were neatly laid out across the basin, leading to various villages or directly to London City.

The streetlamps spaced along the stone paths were constantly tended to by Candle Officers, ensuring year-round uninterrupted candlelight.

On one of the stone paths leading directly to London, walked two special Investigators, cloaked in capes with Barrier functions, who from their shapes had already achieved an advanced stage of "human guise."

One stood at about one meter seventy.

Under the cloak, many cover-less books were hung by exquisite metal chains, each book entwined with Magic Energy of different attributes.

The other was a head taller than their companion, about one meter ninety, and as they walked, a ’slap on the ground’ sound echoed, emanating from their feet’s unique structure.

When London City’s true appearance came into view,

The taller figure halted, his gaze fixed on the part of London City that projected outward to the east.

"Pope, did London City have that section before, or was it recently constructed? Why does it feel so unfamiliar and out of place with the City of Night?"

When the companion asked this question.

The shorter figure’s book on their body began to flip through its pages on its own before providing a response:

"It must be a sub-city that was expanded after ’The London Game.’

Perhaps it’s related to the influx of the Loose People, and London City needed to construct a dedicated area for the Loose People to gather.

Or it could be for some other reason; we’ll check it out after entering the City. It just so happens that this part isn’t recorded in my ’Book’."

"Hmm..."

As the two passed through the city gate’s inspection station, the inspector was so startled that he almost dropped the candle on top of his head.

"Do you two need me to consult directly with the Mother? You are entitled to the highest treatment."

The shorter one responded with a rather gentle voice:

"No need, the incidents in London City must have caused the Mother quite a bit of trouble; we won’t disturb her... We’re just here for a casual visit and only require a Pass."

"I happen to have two high-level residential permits that should meet your basic needs."

"Hmm... By the way, we saw that there seems to be a large-scale expansion happening on the east side of London City. What kind of project is it? Could you reveal a bit about it?"

"It is a Sub-city approved by the Mother for construction. We are not clear on the specifics of the project either, only that it’s connected to the Night Church and is now in its final phase, with entrance forbidden to the public.

When the two reached the Eastern City District, they found the East City Gate had been replaced by a tall wall.

Only a stone-built passage remained, allowing a maximum of two people to pass side-by-side.

The entrance was guarded by two colossal Priests, and Church members were patrolling the nearby streets at all times, with many ’Candle Officers’ floating in the sky area.

Residents lingering on the current street for more than three seconds were immediately driven away.

Clearly, the other side of the passage led to the mysterious Sub-city."
