My CEO Ex: Let Me Go.-Chapter 163
Vivienne’s POV
I wasn’t quite used to it yet, and while sliding down the snowy slope, I lost my balance and took a tumble, lying there for a moment before I managed to get up.
Luckily, Nathaniel was nearby and skied over to help me.
I steadied myself with my ski poles, wiped the snow off my face, and said to Nathaniel, “Thanks.”
Nathaniel gave a shy smile. “No need to thank me. Um... Miss, would it be alright if I added you on WhatsApp?”
Fearing I might decline, he quickly added, “I just want to send you the money for your laundry.”
I replied, “Sure, I’ll have Sophie send it to you when we get back.”
Nathaniel’s face lit up with joy, revealing his little sharp canines. “Great! Thanks, Miss!”
At that time in Norway, the days were short and the nights long. By three or four in the afternoon, it was already dark.
The ski resort turned on its lights early, and the entire place was brightly illuminated.
We stayed on the slopes until after five, and by the time we left, we were exhausted, but there wasn’t a hint of tiredness in our hearts. Instead, we felt incredibly refreshed.
On the bus ride back, Sophie noticed my tired face but relaxed expression. She patted my shoulder and smiled. “So, how was it? Snowboarding was great, right?”
I nodded. “It was a lot of fun today.”
“That’s the way it should be! Don’t think about anything else, just enjoy yourself. By the time we head back in a month, you’ll have completely forgotten about that jerk, Alexander!”
I gave a faint smile.
Hearing this, Nathaniel looked at Sophie and me curiously, probably piecing together that Alexander, mentioned by Sophie, was my ex-boyfriend.
Sophie turned to Nathaniel and started chatting. “Nathaniel, which university are you from?”
Nathaniel replied, “Boston College.”
Sophie raised an eyebrow, surprised. “Not bad.”
Nathaniel smiled and asked, “Miss, where are you from?”
Sophie glanced at me and laughed. “What, planning to hang out with us after we get back?”
Nathaniel shyly smiled back at me but didn’t respond.
“We’re from Virellia City. If you ever visit, give me a call, I’ll take you out for a meal.”
To our surprise, Nathaniel’s eyes widened with excitement. “Really? My hometown is Virellia City too!”
“Really? What a coincidence!” Sophie exchanged a surprised glance with me.
“Really! We used to live near Silverbrook Avenue. I wonder how it’s developed now.”
“It’s developed really well.”
Nathaniel smiled. “Unfortunately, we sold our house there when I was a kid. By the way, Miss Sophie, could you send me Ms. Vivienne’s WhatsApp?”
Sophie raised an eyebrow and looked at me.
I nodded slightly.
Nathaniel added, “Ms. Vivienne agreed to it.”
Sophie then shared my WhatsApp with Nathaniel.
He immediately added me.
I accepted right away.
Nathaniel smiled at me and sent a cute cat sticker on WhatsApp.
I smiled back at him but didn’t reply.
Nathaniel and his friends’ room wasn’t on the same floor as ours.
After they left the elevator, only the three of us remained.
Sophie teasingly looked at me and laughed. “What made you suddenly agree to add him on WhatsApp?”
"While we were skiing, he helped me out and asked for my contact information. I couldn’t really refuse."
"I think it’s fine. I didn’t know his family was from Virellia City too. Maybe something will come of it after all."
I replied, "...We’ll see."
The truth is, I wasn’t really interested in Nathaniel.
Back in the suite, Sophie collapsed onto the bed, not wanting to move.
We rested for half an hour, then headed to the restaurant for dinner. Afterward, we went up to the rooftop to soak in the hot springs.
My tired body was surrounded by the warm, soothing water, and I felt completely relaxed, as if every pore in my body had opened up and all the fatigue melted away.
The hot springs were outdoors, and the cold wind blew sharply, so I couldn’t resist sinking into the water until it covered me up to my neck, leisurely enjoying the beautiful view of the harbor.
After the hot springs, we went to the sauna and met a few foreigners. We chatted happily.
When we were done, Sophie went back to the room to work on editing photos.
As she worked, she asked, "By the way, I need your opinions on something."
"Go ahead." I was applying a face mask.
"We’re deciding whether to rent a car and chase the Aurora ourselves tomorrow, or go with the tour group?"
"Didn’t we say we were going to drive ourselves?" Ariana suddenly had a thought. "But if we drive ourselves, do you think we’ll actually catch the Aurora? I’m worried we might miss it."
"That’s the thing I’m struggling with. I was planning to drive, but when I checked the weather forecast earlier, while we were soaking in the hot springs, it said it would be cloudy for the next few days, and the chances of seeing the Aurora were low. So I was thinking, maybe we should book with a travel agency and get a guide. The guides have been here for years and know what they’re doing."
Sophie continued, "Plus, I saw an ad for a tour group earlier, and it looks tempting. The price isn’t bad. They provide clothing, shoes, and blankets, there’s plenty of food on the bus, a photographer who takes free pictures, and they even have a bonfire party. The best part is, they guarantee you’ll see the Aurora. If you don’t, you can come back the next day for free."
The guarantee of seeing the Aurora was a pretty good reason to consider the tour.
And the bonfire party under the Aurora sounded incredible.
People from all over the world gathered beneath the shimmering lights, sitting around the fire, sipping hot soup, and chatting.
It was like when we were in the sauna earlier—different countries, different skin tones, different races—peacefully sitting together, freely talking. That kind of atmosphere was so appealing.
"How about we go with the tour group tomorrow, and then do the self-drive thing for the next few days?" I suggested.
"Sounds good." Ariana agreed.
"Alright, I’ll sign up!"
Sophie added the group leader’s WhatsApp and signed up.
The guide messaged Sophie, saying we should meet in the hotel lobby at 5 PM, as the bus would pick us up.
At 9 AM, daylight finally broke. After breakfast, we strolled around the city, found a restaurant for lunch, and then returned to the hotel to wait for the tour bus.
At 5 PM, the guide sent Sophie a message saying they’d be at the hotel in five minutes, reminding us to be on time and meet them outside.
We were already ready, so we just went downstairs and waited by the hotel entrance.
As soon as we stepped outside, a chill hit us from all directions.
I was wearing a thick coat, boots, gloves, and a hat, but I still felt a slight chill.
Alexander’s POV
The sky had already darkened, but it was different from the nights in Virellia City. Here in Tromsø, the sky was a deep shade of blue, speckled with stars, yet everything around me was brightly illuminated.
The streetlights had come on, casting a golden glow along the sidewalks. The hotel and residential buildings had their lights on, and across the street, two cars were parked along the curb. Every so often, a car would race past, its engine roaring in the still night air.
The black car across the street was dark, its lights off.
If you didn’t look closely, you wouldn’t notice anyone inside.
I held my breath as I stared through the window, watching that familiar figure.
Vivienne was bundled up in a thick, long down jacket, looking like a little penguin. Her mittened hands flapped occasionally as she wrapped her arms around herself for warmth.
Watching her lively presence, I longed to walk up to her, pull her into my arms—openly, without hesitation.
But I knew I couldn’t.
She had only just started to open up again, and if I appeared before her now, I was sure her mood would turn heavy once more.
A bus drove by, blocking my view.
