My CEO Ex: Let Me Go.-Chapter 168
Alexander’s POV
Seri—just the sound of the name made it clear it was a girl’s name.
I was sure Vivienne didn’t have a friend named Seri.
But then, thinking back to what had just happened, I started to suspect that Seri might be the child Vivienne had given birth to three or four years ago.
Vivienne was asleep, her lips slightly pursed, and she didn’t answer.
Frustrated, I leaned closer to her ear and softly asked, “Vivienne, who is Seri?”
“... Who is Seri...” Vivienne murmured, barely audible.
“Yes, who is Seri?”
“Seri is...”
Vivienne’s words trailed off. She pressed her hand to her forehead, curling into herself. A look of pain crossed her face, and she groaned, “My head hurts... it’s so painful!”
Seeing this, I quickly reached over to gently massage her temples, speaking softly, “If you can’t remember, don’t force it. Just rest.”
It took a while, but eventually, Vivienne calmed down and fell into a deeper sleep.
I watched her peaceful face, her features softened in slumber, and my gaze drifted off into the distance.
I adjusted her clothes, covered her with the blanket, and sat by her bedside for a long time before finally getting up to leave.
Vivienne’s POV
The next morning, at six o’clock, the sky outside was still dark. I groggily opened my eyes, and the pounding in my head was so intense, it felt like it might split open.
I closed my eyes again, trying to rest for a while longer, before finally propping myself up.
I tried to recall what had happened the previous night, but all I could remember was drinking. The only vague memory I had was of dreaming about Alexander.
At that moment, I realized I was only wearing thermal underwear, and I thought to myself that it must have been Ariana and the others who helped me change.
After washing up, I fiddled with my phone for a bit, and by around seven, I decided to call Sophie.
No answer.
Next, I tried calling Ariana.
Still no answer.
They were probably still asleep.
We’d drunk a lot the night before but hadn’t eaten much, and now my stomach was growling with hunger. So, I decided to head to the hotel restaurant for breakfast.
As soon as I stepped out of my room, I caught a glimpse of a figure at the end of the hallway. The silhouette looked like Alexander.
My breath caught in my throat, but when I looked again, the figure was gone.
I rubbed my eyes.
Could it have been a hallucination?
Maybe I was still half-asleep.
After breakfast, Sophie and Ariana woke up one by one.
According to our original plan, we were supposed to go on a road trip the night before, but we had all gotten drunk and fallen asleep.
Today, we resumed our original plan and headed to Somaroy Island by car.
Both Somaroy Island and Lingvas Island offered views of the Aurora.
Sophie had booked the rental car in advance, so after checking out of the hotel, we picked it up and set off for Somaroy Island.
Somaroy Island is located at the far western edge of Koval Island, north of the Arctic Circle. Starting in November, the small island enters a two-month-long polar night, and from May onward, it experiences a two-month-long polar day.
As a result, the island is often referred to as the "island with no time."
Because the usual pattern of time is disrupted, the locals sleep according to their level of fatigue, not the rise and fall of the sun.
The island has few residents, and various charming little wooden houses are scattered by the seaside.
An hour later, we drove over a large bridge and entered Somaroy Island. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
The sky was dim. Though it was polar night, it didn’t feel as dark as Virellia City at night. It had more of an evening vibe—no sun, heavy and gray, but not enough to hinder visibility.
The island was covered in snow, and it felt like we had entered a white world.
Surrounding us were endless snow-capped mountains, all white as far as the eye could see.
We checked into a wooden cabin hotel by the sea, with a view of the ocean right outside the window.
It’s said that you can see the Aurora if you open the window here.
We dropped off our luggage and excitedly ran to the beach, walking along the endless white sand and taking photos with glee. We wandered along the shore, snapping pictures of the cute little wooden houses, completely forgetting the cold and losing track of time.
By the time we realized it, it was already past two in the afternoon.
We went back to the hotel to have lunch.
As I went to get our food at the hotel restaurant, I suddenly spotted a familiar figure.
I looked closely and was surprised. “Frederick Montgomery?”
He turned at the sound of my voice, raised an eyebrow, and smiled. “What a coincidence.”
Though he said it casually, I didn’t see any sign of surprise on his face.
“It really is quite a coincidence. I didn’t expect to see you here.”
“This place is pretty well-known. My friend wanted to come see it.”
I looked behind Frederick but didn’t see the handsome guy everyone had mentioned.
Frederick seemed to sense my unspoken question and playfully explained, “He’s out for a walk, trying to clear his mind.”
"Oh, when do you guys plan on leaving?"
"I’m not sure, I’ll follow my friend’s lead."
"Are you going straight home after this, or do you have other travel plans?"
"Also up to my friend." Frederick repeated the same response.
"We’re heading to Lingwasi Island next. Would you like to join us?"
Frederick didn’t expect me to invite them, and a flicker of surprise passed through his eyes.
He loosely clenched his large hand into a fist and pressed it against his mouth to clear his throat. "I’ll check with my friend. How about you add me on WhatsApp? I’ll let you know afterward."
"Sure." I scanned the QR code and sent the request. Then I suddenly looked up and asked, "Frederick Montgomery, do you know me?"
Frederick instinctively nodded.
When he met my questioning gaze, he calmly explained, "I’ve seen you in the news."
"That explains it."
"Okay, I’ll head out now. Once I’ve spoken to my friend, I’ll give you an answer."
"Alright."
I watched his retreating figure, a hint of doubt flickering in my eyes.
Something about Frederick felt off, though I couldn’t quite put my finger on what it was.
After lunch, the three of us headed to climb the snowy slope behind the hotel.
It was a smaller mountain, but it offered a prime spot for a panoramic view of Somaroi Island from the top.
Dressed warmly, we trudged through the snow, struggling to make our way up. By the time we were halfway, I was already breathless and covered in sweat.
We supported each other, step by step, and finally made it to the top.
Standing there, looking down, I could see all of Somaroi Island spread out below. The cold wind hit me, instantly sweeping away all my fatigue.
Alexander’s POV
Frederick knocked and swaggered in, a lazy grin spreading across his face. “Guess who I just ran into?”
I glanced at him, unimpressed.
Do I really need to guess?
“She just told me they’re heading to Lingwas Island next and asked if I wanted to join them. She even added me on WhatsApp.” He flopped onto the couch, stroking his chin with mock seriousness. “You think she might be into me?”
My expression darkened. I kicked his shin under the coffee table. “You’re so full of yourself.”
I shot another look at Frederick, my mind racing. Sure, Frederick had the looks, but he had a past—he’d been to prison. Vivienne didn’t know that. What if she really liked him?
The thought made my blood pressure spike, a vein on my forehead pulsing with the threat of bursting.
Julian, Nathaniel, Frederick...
I wanted to clear all the men around her out of the picture.
Frederick chuckled. “I was just messing with you, but I know you won’t go for it. How about this—why don’t you follow us in your car while we go together?”
I gave him a sharp look, my gaze as cold and cutting as a blade.
Frederick only laughed, completely unfazed. “Hahaha, I’ll turn her down in a second.”
