Chapter 180: Chapter 180

Vivienne’s POV

The moment I stepped off the plane, warm sunlight bathed me. I couldn’t help but stretch my arms wide, letting the sun kiss every corner of my skin and driving away the chill I’d carried with me after two weeks in the cold.

Sophie and I hopped on the shuttle bus to the terminal to pick up our luggage.

“Hmph.” A woman passed by us, her chin raised, letting out a dismissive hum.

Sophie rolled her eyes. “I don’t get what she’s so proud of.”

After grabbing our luggage, we took a taxi to the hotel we’d booked. The flight had left us exhausted, so once we checked in, Sophie and I went straight to our rooms to rest. We both fell asleep almost immediately.

By evening, I had adjusted to the time zone and woke up. I called Sophie to join me for dinner at the hotel restaurant.

After we finished eating, Sophie suggested we take a walk outside.

The streets were bustling with tourists, all snapping photos with excitement.

We stood by the pier, the cool sea breeze greeting us, refreshing and invigorating. The lights from the city reflected off the water, creating a dazzling, shimmering scene—truly beautiful.

Sophie and I took a few photos there, but something felt off. It was as if someone was watching us.

I scanned the area, but there was no one in sight.

We walked around the Sydney Opera House before heading back to the hotel. Julian wouldn’t arrive until a few days later, so for now, it was just Sophie and me.

On the third day, Sophie and I visited the Queen Victoria Building.

The Queen Victoria Building is the largest shopping center in Sydney. Its history stretches back over the years, with a stunning glass dome and a spiral staircase—every corner exuding classical charm. Before it became a shopping hub, it was already a popular tourist destination, and now it’s an essential stop for anyone visiting Sydney.

Inside, there was a food court, cafés, restaurants, and, of course, a wide variety of local and international brands.

The real reason I was here, aside from sightseeing, was to buy Julian a gift. But so far, I had no idea what to get him.

Sophie said, “Don’t rush it, we’ll take our time. Maybe something will catch your eye.”

In one shop, I spotted a men’s watch—understated yet luxurious. The sales assistant laid it on the counter, showing off its elegance and doing his best to sell it.

“What do you think, Sophie? How about this watch for Julian?”

“It’s fine, but do you really need to buy him a gift?”

“It’s a return gift. I have to get him something.”

Just as I was about to ask the sales assistant to wrap it up, a haughty voice interrupted, demanding, “Wrap this watch up for me!”

The voice sounded familiar, so I turned around, and sure enough, it was the woman we’d encountered on the plane.

She clearly recognized us too, her gaze dripping with disdain. “Oh, it’s you two? How quaint. You think you can afford things here? Don’t embarrass yourselves!”

“Embarrass ourselves? That’s our business, not yours,” I retorted coldly, then turned to the sales assistant. “I saw this watch first. Please wrap it up for me.”

The woman immediately marched up, her tone commanding, “Wrap this watch for me! Don’t sell it to them, they can’t afford it!”

She had clearly eyed this watch the moment she walked in, and it would be the perfect match for the man we met on the plane. If our paths crossed again, I’d buy it for him.

The sales assistant hesitated, eyeing the woman’s flashy outfit before glancing back at Sophie and me.

We weren’t dressed poorly—quite the opposite—but the woman was covered head to toe in designer labels.

I pulled out my credit card and placed it on the counter. “If I’ve decided to buy it, I can certainly afford it.”

“I’ll pay five times the price for that watch. You’ll give it to me.” The woman’s voice was demanding, her tone leaving no room for argument. “If you sell it to me, I’ll buy several more pieces.”

Was I dealing with a rich person?

If a few pieces sold right away, I wouldn’t have to worry about meeting my sales targets this month.

The sales assistant’s eyes darted around, as if she were doing some quick calculations in her head. After a moment of hesitation, she looked at me awkwardly and said, “Ma’am, we have plenty of other styles available. Would you like to take a look at something else?”

The woman across from me smirked, her expression one of smugness and challenge.

I furrowed my brows and said coldly, “I was the one who came first, and I picked this watch first. This place is a popular stop for tourists, but you can’t even respect the order in which we arrived? Where’s your manager?”

The woman’s smile only grew more arrogant. “What’s the point of calling the manager? Even if the manager comes, this watch is still mine!”

Sophie, who was standing beside me, shot the woman a look of disdain. Then she turned to me and asked, “Vivienne, do you hear a dog barking somewhere? How strange... why would there be a dog barking in a mall?”

I played along, responding, “Oh, it must be a dog that forgot to be leashed.”

“Are you calling me a dog?” The woman glared at both of us, fury flashing in her eyes.

“I didn’t say that,” Sophie shrugged, her tone nonchalant. “If the shoe fits, though, that’s not on me.”

In a fit of rage, the woman lunged at us, raising her hand as though to strike Sophie.

I reacted instantly, grabbing her arm and shoving her hard. The force of it sent both women stumbling back.

“Trying to hit someone?” I asked coldly.

Seeing she was outnumbered, the woman started yelling, “They’re attacking me! Someone, get them out of here!”

“Manager!”

Just then, the store manager appeared. The woman stormed up to him, yelling, “These two women aren’t even buying anything, and they’re attacking me! Please, get them out of here!”

The manager glanced her up and down, clearly unimpressed. “You two, get her out of here.”

“Did you hear that?” The woman taunted us, her grin mocking. “The manager says you need to leave!”

One of the sales assistants stepped forward. “Ma’am, please leave. Stop interfering with our business.”

The woman froze, stunned by the turn of events. She couldn’t believe what was happening. “You want me to leave? Not them? Me?”

“It’s you,” the manager replied coldly. “Now move along.”

“Ma’am, you need to leave immediately.”

The woman stood there, her eyes burning with fury as she glared at the manager. “You... Are you sure you want to kick me out? Think carefully. If you really do this, I’ll call my father and have you fired!”

The manager remained unyielding. “Fine with me.”

“You’ll regret this!”

With a venomous glare directed at me, the woman gritted her teeth in frustration and stormed off.

The manager then turned to us, his expression softening. “Ladies, I’m really sorry for the unpleasant experience. Here’s a discount card—just a small gesture to make up for it. I hope you understand.”

“It’s fine,” I replied casually. “There are rude people everywhere. As long as you handled it the right way, that’s what matters.”

In the end, I bought the watch I had originally wanted.

Alexander’s POV

After Vivienne left, the manager returned to the VIP room, bowing respectfully as he spoke.

"Mr. Alexander, everything has been taken care of."

"Mm."

I nodded absentmindedly, my eyes fixed on the monitor in front of me, watching Vivienne as she held up the men’s watch in her hand.

Why would Vivienne buy a men’s watch?

Is it a gift for me?

A small, almost imperceptible thrill stirred inside me.
