My CEO Ex: Let Me Go.-Chapter 184
Vivienne’s POV
Alexander took me to the hospital for a check-up.
On the way, I sent Sophie a message on WhatsApp:
"Sophie, are you okay? I got stepped on, heading to the hospital now. Wait for me at the hotel."
Sophie sent back a relieved meme.
Sophie: "I’m fine."
Sophie: "Oh my God, those crazy fans are terrifying!"
Sophie: "How bad is your injury?"
Me: "It’s not serious, don’t worry about me."
Sophie: "You’re going to the hospital alone? Where are you? I’ll come with you."
I glanced at Alexander, who was driving, and replied, "I’m already on my way out of the airport. Just wait for me at the hotel."
A few seconds later, Sophie replied, "Vivienne, I think I saw Alexander!"
My heart skipped a beat. I nervously glanced at Alexander, feeling like I’d been caught sneaking around with my ex while my current husband was right there. "You must be mistaken. What would he be doing here?"
After sending the message, I stared at the screen, anxiously waiting.
"Maybe I was wrong. Anyway, the bus is here. I’ll wait for you at the hotel."
"Okay." I let out a sigh of relief.
My check-up showed I had a mild concussion, and the doctor said I just needed two days of rest.
I also had a few bruises, and the doctor prescribed some medication. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Alexander took the pills from the doctor’s office and turned to me. "Let’s go. I’ll take you back to the hotel."
I glanced at the medication in his hand, but he pretended not to notice, slipping them into his pocket.
I had no choice but to speak up. "Give me the meds. I can go back on my own."
Alexander shot me a cold look. "Building bridges just to tear them down?"
I quickly looked away, trying to act tough. "I’ve been checked out. I’m fine. I can get back to the hotel by myself. If you take me, Sophie will see us."
"So what if she does? What, we can’t be seen together?"
"You’re the one who can’t be seen."
Alexander smiled. "Let me put it another way. I’m headed back to the hotel anyway. It’s on the way, so I’ll give you a ride. That work for you?"
Me: "..."
How could I forget? Since Alexander was following me, of course, he’d be staying at the same hotel!
At the hotel
I stood at the door, giving Alexander a pointed look. "I’m here. You can leave now."
Alexander didn’t budge. "Aren’t you going to invite me in?"
I shook my head firmly. "No."
"You’re hurt. How are you going to apply the medication yourself?"
"I’ll ask Sophie to help me." I kept my eyes on Alexander, making it clear I wasn’t going to let him get any closer.
"Fine. Go on in. I’ll leave once you’re inside," he said, relenting and handing me the medication.
I eyed him suspiciously. "Really?"
"Really."
I took the key card from my pocket, swiped it, and the door opened with a soft beep.
Just as I was about to speak, a sudden force pushed me from behind.
The door slammed shut.
Before I could react, I found myself pinned against the wall inside the room.
I gritted my teeth. "Alexander! You lied to me again!"
If I ever trust him again, I’d be a fool.
Alexander’s eyes glinted with a victorious smile, and he held a finger to his lips. "Shh—"
I was about to say more when Sophie’s voice came from outside the door. "Vivienne, you’re back? What did the doctor say?"
I clamped my mouth shut, glaring at Alexander.
After a while, I heard Sophie muttering to herself, “Huh? Did I hear that wrong?”
As soon as Sophie returned to her room, I immediately shoved Alexander away. “Get out!”
Without changing his expression, Alexander took the ointment from my hand, walked over to the sofa, and sat down, opening the box. “I’ll apply the ointment for you. Once I’m done, I’ll leave.”
I put a hand to my forehead. “...”
“If you want to spend more time with me, you could always keep stalling,” Alexander said casually.
I shot him a sharp glare, my eyes cold enough to freeze.
Reluctantly, I grabbed a box of cotton swabs and set it on the table. Then, I sat next to him and lifted my skirt up to my knee.
My once-smooth, fair calf was now covered in bruises—blue, purple, and yellow patches. One spot was deeply marked, as though a high heel had pressed into it, leaving a painful tear at the edge.
A flicker of something crossed Alexander’s face. His large hand gently brushed over my bruised leg. “Does it hurt?”
To be honest, it only hurt if someone pressed on it.
But Alexander’s touch was so light, like a feather grazing my skin, that it tickled more than anything and sent a shiver down my spine.
“Hurry up with the ointment!”
Alexander’s face darkened slightly. He squeezed some ointment onto the cotton swab and pressed it gently against the bruised spot.
“Ah—” I gasped, the sharp pain catching me off guard. “Alexander, could you be any gentler?!”
“Sorry, you told me to hurry. I forgot to be careful with the pressure,” he said slowly, squeezing more ointment onto the swab.
I glared at him in frustration.
That damn Alexander was doing this on purpose!
Once the ointment was applied, it felt cool and soothing.
When I lifted my eyes, I found Alexander’s face serious, completely focused, as if he were handling something important.
From where I sat, I could see that his lashes were long and thick, each one distinct. His nose was straight, and his features were sharply defined.
Suddenly, Alexander lifted his gaze and met my eyes.
I quickly looked away, pretending to be casual as I stared at the wall.
“Your leg’s done. Do you have any other injuries besides your back?” Alexander’s lips curled into a slight smile.
“No.”
“Then lie down on the sofa.”
I moved to lie down on the sofa, but then suddenly remembered something. I turned to look at Alexander, who was about to lift my dress. I scrambled up, pressing down my skirt. “My back’s fine, no need to apply ointment there. You can leave now.”
“Stop being stubborn. I promise I won’t look where I shouldn’t. If I do, I’ll be a dog.”
I hesitated for a moment.
Alexander wasted no time. He pressed me back down onto the sofa. “Don’t overthink it. I’ve seen it before, and the injury’s more important.”
I should have known better than to expect anything sweet from Alexander’s mouth!
He lifted my dress to my back, and I shivered as the cool air touched my skin, especially on my thighs and hips.
The soothing ointment was applied to the injured area. Alexander tossed the cotton swab into the trash, placed the ointment on the table, and paused for a second.
Then, he suddenly said, “Woof woof—”
I froze for a few seconds, then it hit me. My face flushed, and I wasn’t sure if I was more embarrassed or angry.
“Alexander!!! Get out of here!!!”
I grabbed a throw pillow and threw it at him.
Seeing my angry outburst, a flicker of amusement crossed Alexander’s eyes. He caught the pillow and tossed it back onto the sofa.
I picked it up again and threw it at him.
He caught it once more. “Don’t be mad, I’m leaving now.”
He set the pillow down and turned to leave.
“Wait!”
Suddenly, I called after him.
Alexander stopped, looking back at me in confusion. “Did you suddenly realize you don’t want me to go?”
I twitched my lips. “In your dreams!”
I stood up from the sofa and walked over to Alexander, speaking seriously. “Alexander, I won’t hold it against you this time for lying to me, since you did save me. But you need to go back to your country now and never follow me again.”
