My CEO Ex: Let Me Go.-Chapter 185
Vivienne’s POV
"I saved you, and all you can do is say thank you and push me away? Vivienne, are you really going to burn bridges after crossing them?"
I stood there, speechless for a moment. "Fine, call it burning bridges. But didn’t you say you wouldn’t follow me anymore? Don’t tell me you’re here on a business trip and just happened to be at the airport."
"If I hadn’t followed you, you’d be in worse shape than this! First, you lose your wallet, then you get hurt—how could I not worry?"
"We’re divorced now. My life has nothing to do with you. You don’t need to care."
"You—"
Alexander’s face darkened instantly, his eyes turning cold and stormy.
I felt a chill run down my spine and instinctively took a step back.
He moved a step closer, his voice low and commanding. "Say that again."
My eyes flickered nervously as I stepped back. "We’re divorced now. My life has nothing to do with you. You don’t need to care."
My voice quivered, and my words lacked conviction.
Alexander’s expression grew darker still, his gaze now a storm cloud of fury.
I tried to retreat further, but my back hit the wall, leaving me with nowhere to go.
I felt like a cornered animal, inching sideways, desperate to escape.
Without warning, Alexander reached out, gripping my chin with his large hand and lowering his head to kiss me.
His handsome face loomed too close, and for a moment, I froze in shock. Then, I snapped out of it and shoved him away with all my strength.
"Mmm..."
Alexander’s shoulder was like a steel wall, and no matter how hard I struggled, he didn’t budge.
He kissed me deeply, his lips taking mine in a passionate, consuming kiss. His tongue swept into my mouth, exploring with a hunger that left me breathless.
His heated breath tangled with mine, and my heart raced as I struggled to breathe.
Seizing the moment, Alexander pressed harder, his tongue slipping past my teeth.
"Mmm—"
I closed my eyes, and in a surge of frustration, I bit down hard.
Alexander grunted in pain, but instead of pulling away, he deepened the kiss, letting the metallic taste of blood mix between us.
Suddenly, something wet landed on our lips—salty and bitter.
Alexander immediately pulled back, his eyes wide with concern. He stared at me, his expression filled with panic as he took in the sight of my red, tear-filled eyes and the streaks of emotion on my cheeks.
His hands shook as he desperately wiped at the corners of my eyes. "Vivienne, Vivienne, I’m so sorry. I’m the one at fault. Please don’t cry. I didn’t mean to. I’ll do anything—just don’t cry. I’m sorry..."
I remained silent, letting the tears fall without making a sound.
"Vivienne, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have forced you. You can hit me, you can curse me, just don’t stay silent."
"Hit you? Curse you? What’s the point? Would you even listen to me?" My voice was steady now, my eyes calm, like a quiet sea. I wiped away my tears. "No. You say you love me, but all you do is treat me like an object. You’ve never respected me!"
"You follow me around, spy on my life, ignore my wishes. There’s no freedom, no privacy left. You do whatever you want, and I don’t have a say. This life... it has no meaning anymore."
At my last words, Alexander’s panic was obvious. "Vivienne, all I want is to see you. If you don’t like it, I’ll stop following you. Just don’t cry. I’ll do whatever you want, I promise."
"I just want you to stay away from me!" My eyes filled with tears again, and with a small blink, they spilled over, cascading down my cheeks.
I had finally, finally made up my mind to divorce him, to let him go.
But he had to come back. He had to entangle me, mess with my life, and mess with my heart.
Alexander’s face fell. After a long pause, he spoke in a hoarse voice, "Alright, I promise you."
Other’s POV
The next day, Vivienne and Sophie joined a tour group.
The group was departing from Geelong, and the bus was only half-full, with passengers scattered around. Since they were all tourists, the atmosphere was relaxed, and conversation flowed easily.
When Vivienne and Sophie boarded, the bus went quiet for a brief moment before the chatter resumed.
Vivienne and Sophie picked seats next to each other.
A young man sitting in front of them smiled and greeted them.
"Hey, ladies, where are you from? Is this a work trip, or just sightseeing?"
The young man’s companion glanced at Vivienne a few times but didn’t say anything, turning his head away.
An older man sitting in front of them also spoke up enthusiastically.
"You two look young—must be students, right?"
Sophie smiled and replied, "We’re from Virellia City. Just here for sightseeing. What about you guys?"
The conversation continued to flow through the group.
Once the bus started moving, the chatter died down as people turned to their own activities.
Some chatted with friends, others listened to music with headphones, and a few took photos of the passing scenery.
The young man’s companion turned around and nudged him with his elbow, speaking in a lowered voice.
"Hey, the two girls in the back... the one sitting inside—she looks like Vivienne."
"Vivienne? Who’s that?" The young man didn’t catch on immediately.
"You forgot? She’s Alexander’s wife!"
The young man’s eyes widened as recognition dawned on him.
"Wait, is it really her?"
"I’m pretty sure it’s her. The one next to her is Sophie, her friend—the makeup artist."
Back when the news about Alexander and Vivienne broke, they had talked about it in the dorm, envious of how Alexander seemed to have it all—living a life most people could never dream of.
Curious, the young man asked, "Wasn’t she just divorced from Alexander not long ago?"
"Yeah," the young man’s companion sighed, speaking in a low voice, "She’s probably going to get a nice chunk of Alexander’s wealth. Even though they’re divorced now, she’s young and rich. But those high-society types probably won’t marry her. She’s got money now; maybe she’ll just keep a younger guy around instead. Anyone who gets with her won’t have to struggle for decades."
The young man quietly turned his head to glance back.
Vivienne was talking to Sophie, her profile flawless and graceful. As she laughed at something, her eyes sparkled, and her lips were full and bright—she didn’t look like someone who had been through a divorce at all.
Even without the money, just her beauty alone made him want to pursue her. And with her wealth... it was even more tempting.
His companion continued, "Her husband cheated on her, and now she’s freshly divorced. She’s probably vulnerable right now, so it’s the perfect time to swoop in. If you spend some time with her, help her through this tough period, she’ll be yours in no time."
The words were spoken carelessly, but the young man heard them loud and clear.
The more he thought about it, the more excited he became.
If he could win Vivienne over, he wouldn’t have to spend his time struggling to find work and make money!
The young man couldn’t help but glance at his reflection in the dark screen of his phone. He considered himself good-looking, with a fresh, innocent look that girls liked. There were plenty of girls at school who had a crush on him.
He silently made a resolve.
Since the tour lasted two days, there was plenty of time, and the bus made a brief stop at Anglesey Beach.
By noon, they had arrived in Lorne. The tour guide and driver unloaded several barbecue grills to set up for a seafood barbecue on the beach.
There weren’t enough grills for everyone, so the group needed to divide up according to the number of people.
The young man eagerly suggested to his companion, "Let’s join Vivienne and Sophie’s group! We’ll handle the grilling, and they can go enjoy the beach!"
