My Charity System made me too OP-Chapter 172: Alchemy Ingredients
As the Basilisk’s body dissolved, it left behind a rare alchemy material—Basilisk Essence, a valuable ingredient-a catalyst that could enhance potions to a higher tier.
Roselia’s eyes gleamed. "This is a jackpot."
Leon picked up the essence and smirked. "Looks like this quest was more rewarding than expected."
"But don’t forget for what we are here" Millim said as they nodded Leon put the essence back in inventory while they also took the Basilisk Eyes
Roselia carefully stored the Basilisk Scales in a reinforced alchemy pouch, making sure to keep them separate from the Essence to prevent any unwanted reactions. "These scales can be used for potion reinforcement or even crafting magical armor," she noted.
Lilian checked their surroundings. "Alright, we got everything we need. Let’s head back before anything else shows up."

As they made their way out of the swamp, Roman spoke up. "So, what’s the plan now? Are we heading straight to the lab, or are we taking a break first?"
"We still have a quest to do," Milim reminded them once again as they nodded in agreement.
[Venomous Bloom Hunt]
Objective: Retrieve the petals of the Nightshade Bloom, a rare plant guarded by venomous insects deep within the Blackthorn Swamp.
Reward: High-grade alchemy materials and 800 Ascender Points.
Difficulty: A-rank
She was referring to this quest, so they began walking deeper into the swamp, venturing further inward.
As they moved deeper into the Blackthorn Swamp, the air grew thick with humidity, and the dense mist made it difficult to see too far ahead. The buzzing of insects echoed around them, their sounds blending with the occasional croaks of swamp creatures lurking beneath the murky waters.
Leon activated his Sage Eyes, scanning the surroundings for any signs of the Nightshade Bloom. His enhanced vision allowed him to pierce through illusions, detect mana fluctuations, and identify threats hidden in the darkness. Enjoy new chapters from novelbuddy
"Something’s not right," Leon muttered, his golden irises flickering with energy.
"What now?" Roman asked, gripping his weapon cautiously.
"There’s an illusion covering the deeper parts of the swamp," Leon explained. "If we go any further without countering it, we might end up wandering in circles or worse—walking straight into a trap."
Roselia sighed. "Of course, it wouldn’t be that easy. Any guesses on what’s causing the illusion?"
Leon narrowed his eyes, searching for the source. After a moment, he pointed ahead. "There. A Phantom Lotus is hidden among the trees. It’s a rare plant that distorts perception and creates mirages to protect its habitat."
"Can you dispel it?" Lilia asked.
Leon nodded. "Yeah, but it’ll take some time. Until then, we should stay close and be ready for anything."
As Leon began weaving his magic to counter the illusion, the swamp around them seemed to shift. The trees twisted unnaturally, and shadows moved where there shouldn’t be any movement. Then, without warning, giant venomous wasps emerged from the fog, their stingers dripping with a deadly paralyzing toxin.
"Looks like we don’t have the luxury of time!" Milim shouted, cracking her knuckles. "Guess we’ll just have to fight our way through!"
"Fine by me!" Roman grinned, drawing his weapon.
The venomous wasps came in swarms, their massive, chitinous bodies glistening under the eerie swamp light. Each had dagger-like stingers, and their wings beat so fast they created a high-pitched hum that made the air tremble.
Leon, still focusing on dispelling the illusion, called out, "Keep them off me for a bit! I need to break the Phantom Lotus’s hold!"
Milim grinned, cracking her knuckles. "No problem! This looks like fun!" She leapt forward, her fist colliding with the nearest wasp, sending it crashing through the twisted swamp trees.
Lilian’s movements were graceful, weaving between the attacking insects while her twin daggers slashed through their weak points. Poisonous green blood sprayed as she danced through the battlefield.
Roman, wielding his greatsword, cleaved through the wasps in wide arcs, using brute strength to break their armored exoskeletons. "There’s too many of them!" he grunted, swinging his sword once more.
Meanwhile, Roselia cast a fire spell, sending a whirlwind of flames into the air. The sudden burst of heat scorched several wasps, sending their burning bodies crashing into the swamp water with loud hisses.
But the swarm wasn’t their only problem. The illusion continued warping their vision, making it difficult to tell friend from foe.
Leon clenched his fists, focusing his Sage Eyes even harder. He traced the Phantom Lotus’s energy back to its core and finally found the weak point. "Got it!" He thrust his hand forward, gathering mana before releasing a sharp burst of anti-illusion energy.
The air rippled like shattered glass, and suddenly, the illusion dissolved.
The swamp shifted back to reality, revealing the Nightshade Bloom—a beautiful but ominous black flower with glowing purple petals, guarded by a massive wasp queen.
"Well," Milim smirked, wiping sweat from her brow. "Now that’s a real opponent."
The Wasp Queen screeched, its wings sending out a sonic shockwave that shook the trees. It was easily three times the size of the others, its stinger pulsating with lethal venom.
Leon drew his weapon. "Let’s take it down!"
The Wasp Queen let out a shrill, echoing cry, her massive, translucent wings beating rapidly as she rose into the air. The pressure from her movements sent ripples through the murky swamp water, and her multiple glowing red eyes locked onto Leon’s group with pure malice.
"Watch out!" Roselia warned as the queen suddenly dove forward, her massive stinger aimed directly at Roman.
Roman barely had time to react, raising his greatsword just in time to block the attack. The impact sent him skidding backward, his boots digging deep furrows into the muddy ground. His arms shook from the force. "Damn, she’s strong!"
Milim didn’t wait—she launched herself upward, aiming to punch the queen straight in the head. But at the last second, the queen’s wings twisted unnaturally, sending her body into an abrupt spin.
Milim’s attack missed, and in the next instant, the Wasp Queen’s legs lashed out, kicking her out of the air and sending her crashing into a tree. The impact cracked the bark.
"Milim!" Liliana called, but Milim just stood up, grinning. "Tch! That actually hurt a little. I like her already!"
