My Childhood Bully is a Mafia Boss-Chapter 21
The waves crashed against the shore, a rhythmic chant that played in tune with my racing heart. We were alone, Aidan and I, quietly eating breakfast.
"Spit it out, Ivy," he said, his voice low and steady. His blue eyes were like chips of ice, piercing through me. "You clearly have something to say."
I swallowed hard, my fingers curling into my palms. "Why did you bring me here, Aidan? What’s the real reason for this fake honeymoon?" My voice trembled.
He had told me he wanted to bring me because he needed my help looking less suspicious. But the more time I spent here, the more I was starting to doubt his intentions.
"Look, Ivy," he began, his voice carrying a casualness that clashed with the gravity of the moment. His eyes stayed fixed on the horizon, not meeting mine. "I brought you here because... well, I guess I wanted your company and to have sex."
My heart stalled, then hammered with a ferocity that threatened to burst through my ribcage. "For sex?" The words tasted like bile as they climbed up my throat, and my gaze snapped to his face, searching for a flicker of jest, but there was none. "That’s all I am to you? A—"
"An opportunity," he cut in, still not looking at me. "It was convenient, you were available, and let’s face it—I thought you’d be up for some fun."
"Fun?" My voice rose, sharp and laced with a hurt that seared my insides. "You think using someone for sex is fun?"
He shrugged, the ghost of a smirk appearing and disappearing as if he knew it would sting. "Isn’t that what this whole setup is about? We pretend for a little while, get what we want, and go back to our lives."
"Except I didn’t sign up to be your plaything, Aidan!" I stepped closer, fists clenching at my sides. I could feel the hot tears threatening to spill, but I fought them back with every shred of dignity I had left. "You’ve taken everything—my trust, my respect—and twisted it into this... this lie!"
"Come on, Ivy," he said with a chuckle that scraped against my nerves. "You’re smart enough to know how these things work. You were convenient, and the setting? Perfect."
I couldn’t believe it. He was worse than I thought!
"Convenient?" My voice quivered, betraying the storm of emotions churning inside me. "Is that what people are to you, Aidan? Just pawns in your twisted game?"
He stabbed a piece of strawberry with his fork and took a bite. "It’s not a game, Ivy. It’s life. And sometimes you take what you can get." His words cut through the air, sharp and precise, leaving wounds that felt too deep to ever heal.
"Take what you can get..." I echoed hollowly, my hands shaking as I clenched them into fists at my sides. A surge of anger, fierce and righteous, welled up within me. "What gives you the right? To use me, to manipulate me?"
Aidan’s expression didn’t waver, but for a fleeting moment, I saw something flicker behind his eyes—a shadow of something unspoken. Yet it vanished before I could grasp it, replaced by the same infuriating nonchalance.
"It’s too late to get angry about this, Ivy. I already fucked you and you will be lying if you say you didn’t enjoy it," he said.
I swallowed hard, feeling like he was stripping away any remaining dignity I had left with every word he spoke. My cheeks flushed as I thought about how easily he’d lured me here under false pretenses. "You made it sound so simple," I spat out between clenched teeth, "like getting me here was some kind of trophy to show off."
He leaned back in his chair, taking another bite of the juicy fruit. His look darkened as he studied my face before responding coldly: "More than that." His hand reached over and snagged my wrist roughly, pulling me closer to him until our knees were touching beneath the table. "You will become my mistress, permanently."
His harsh words sent a chill down my spine. My heart raced as I tried desperately to break free from his grip, but I found myself frozen under his stare.
He leaned even closer, breath hot on my neck, making me squirm uncomfortably in response while his other hand traced circles on top of mine where it rested on the tablecloth.
"You know," he whispered in my ear, his breath tickling my skin as if it were a caress, "I could taste your fear now."
"Why me? Why are you targeting me?" I whispered.
"Because you are Ivy Williams," he said simply. "A woman like you would never give herself to me. At least, not willingly," he paused before continuing.
"You have always looked at me like I was a scum of the earth. Even back in high school," he added.
"That’s not true!" I exclaimed in protest. "I was nice to you. In fact, I was the only one in school who was nice to you. We...we shared some happy moments too back then. Did you forget all about that?" I asked.
A look of acknowledgment flickered in Aidan’s eyes as if he remembered something, but it was gone as quickly as it appeared. "You were only nice because you pitied me," he spat out, the sudden change in his demeanor startling me into silence. "If not, you would’ve stuck around when...anyway, it doesn’t matter what happened in the past. What matters is that you are mine now."
Fear and anger warred within me. "I am not yours, Aidan. You can’t force me to submit to you," I growled.
He smirked as if he had expected as much. "We’ll see about that," he purred, dragging his fingernails down my arm lightly before releasing me. "I’ve waited too long to just let you slip through my fingers."
I picked up a glass of water and downed it in one go, the coolness of the water doing little to soothe the raging fire inside me. I vowed then and there to find a way out—to escape this nightmare of a honeymoon and make Aidan Blackwood pay for everything he’d done.
"And how do you plan on keeping me around when we get back home?" I asked. "In case you’ve forgotten, I am not some weak, naive female you can just kidnap. I have money and power too. And no matter how dangerous of a criminal you are, I could still report you to the police for harassment," I reminded him.
Aidan regards me, his eyes glinting with a strange mix of anticipation and amusement. "Oh, Ivy," he says, voice silky-smooth and laced with disdain. "You really think the police could help you?" He takes another sip from his glass, ice clinking against the glass as he does so.
"I will hire the most powerful lawyers money can buy. I will take down your entire criminal organization," I said firmly.
"Then I guess I will have no choice but to kill your parents and anyone who is close to you. Since I am going to jail anyway," he said and I heard a hint of mockery in his tone.
"You wouldn’t dare," I gasped, eyes wide with shock and fear. "You’re bluffing." 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
He leaned in so close that his lips brushed against my ear, giving me goosebumps despite myself. "I don’t bluff, Ivy. You know that better than anyone. I will do anything to make you mine," he said.
He sat up. "In fact, I have an idea."
What now?
"Aren’t you going to ask me what my idea is?" he asked in an amusing tone.
I sighed. "What bright idea do you have now, Aidan?"
"Well, after I had so much fun with you last night, I thought about this long and hard. Why should we limit our time together? After our little honeymoon is over, you will go back to your townhouse, and I will go back to my home. And I am not sure I like that," he said.
I didn’t like where this was going, I thought to myself. "Yes, that was the plan, wasn’t it? I have a company to run, and you have...whatever it is that you run."
"Well, I don’t like that we will be apart, so I decided," he paused and leaned toward me again. "You will move in with me."
Excuse me, what?
"I’m sorry, did I hear that right? You want me to live under the same roof as you?" I asked.
"Yes," he said as if it were the most natural thing in the world. "That way, I can be close to you at all times."
"You must be joking," I said indignantly. "I am not moving in with you."
Aidan shrugs nonchalantly. "It’s up to you. Agree to move in with me, and no one gets hurt. Refuse, and..." He trails off menacingly.
I gulped, knowing all too well that he meant what he said. The man was capable of anything. "Okay, fine, I’ll move in with you. But mark my words, Aidan Blackwood, you will need to sleep with one eye open," I spat out.
He simply smiled. "Are you threatening me?"
"Yes. Don’t think you are the only one who is capable of playing dirty," I said.
If I had to live with him, I would have to make sure I made his life difficult.
