My Cold-Hearted Husband Wants Me Back-Chapter 12: She Needs To Survive
Chapter 12 - She Needs To Survive
Naomi's interest piqued as she leaned forward, her eyes glinting with curiosity. "And?"
Lunara hesitated, her fingers curling into the fabric of her pants as she stared at the mattress, conflicted. "What?" she finally muttered, her tone bitter. "What do you expect? A fateful reunion? Nah... he didn't even remember me."
Naomi's mouth parted in shock, gasping without any sound. Pure disbelief painted her face. "Woah, what a jerk. Get you to sign the deal, give you money, and then disappear?" She frowned, confused. "I really don't get it... why?"
Lunara blinked, furrowing her brows. "What do you mean by 'why'?"
Naomi shrugged, a bit frustrated as she tried to explain. "I mean, he's rich and all, and from what I saw, you were the one who'd benefit from marrying him." She paused, watching Lunara's expression change as she seemed to miss her point. "Okay, I know the money was taken by your dad, but still...you know...you got a lot from just getting married to him..." Naomi trailed off when Lunara looked at her, silently urging her to continue. "I don't know... but it's clear he was involved with you for some reason."
Lunara nodded lightly, a slight pout forming on her lips as she admitted, "Continue..."
Naomi leaned forward, narrowing her eyes thoughtfully. "If he got nothing from this marriage, then why would he get married to you in the first place?"
"He wanted something from this marriage. He did tell me before we signed the marriage certificate." Lunara bit her lips, a bit irritated.
"But why did he leave you with no news or whatsoever?"
Lunara's pout getting longer, her fingers tracing absent patterns on the fabric. "I don't know. He said it was all part of some family matter, but I didn't expect him to just... disappear." She clenched her fists, frustration bubbling up again. "It felt like I was nothing more than a pawn, like once his part in the deal was done, I wasn't worth his time anymore."

Naomi crossed her arms, her expression softening as she tried to understand. "But you were his wife, Lunara. Even if it was a business arrangement, he should've at least respected that. He didn't even try to stay in touch?"
Lunara shook her head, her voice tight. "No. Not a single word. It's like once the deal was done, he didn't care anymore. I really don't understand it." She paused, her eyes growing distant. "But maybe I was never meant to be more than that. Just a step in whatever game he's playing."
Sighing, Naomi pressed her lips together, determined. "Just get a divorce! And marry my brother!"
"You have a brother?!" Lunara was more surprised to hear her best friend had a brother than at Naomi suggesting she marry him.
"I never told you about my brother?" Naomi blinked, trying to recall if she had ever mentioned him. "Ah... I guess I never did."
Lunara rolled her eyes. "Never mind. How can I even get a divorce if I don't know where to find him?"
"Where did you meet him last night?" Naomi asked, trying to help.
Lunara raised her gaze. "The hotel."
"Then go there again. Who knows? You might find him."
"Nope, I don't want to. Let's just consider we're already divorced and live our lives. I don't think I want to get married again," Lunara rejected her suggestion, but then her eyes sharply fixed on Naomi. "Wait, what the hell were you doing at the hotel last night?!" She finally realized the fact that Naomi had been at the hotel almost at midnight.
Naomi let out a light sigh, "Ah... my mom asked me to run some errands, but yeah, meeting you and everything, I completely forgot about it."
Lunara raised an eyebrow. "Errands? At that time of night?"
Naomi quickly waved her hand, brushing it off. "Oh, nothing major. Just some stuff for my mom. She is always like that. Anyway, forget about that. We need to catch up, Ara. It's been a week since I got back from abroad, and I'm sure you've got plenty of things to tell me."
Instead of replying, she squinted her eyes in curiosity, "You have a lot of secrets."
"Not really secret, it's just family matters that...hmmm...wouldn't be proper to talk with others." Naomi pressed her lips thin. "Oh, about the model things, do you pass?"
"They don't like my height," Lunara answered weakly, sighing. "At first they called me because they were interested when they looked at my pictures and didn't notice my height at the profiles and when I arrived there, they just realised I was..." she pointed at herself, "This short."
"They were looking for a model for lipstick, weren't they? What the heck does height matter?" Naomi gasped dramatically.
Lunara laughed, but it was clear she was trying to convince herself. "Maybe they just wanted someone who actually looks like a model. You know, tall, elegant... not a dwarf like me."
Naomi clicked her tongue in annoyance. "158 cm is not a dwarf! Do they even have eyes? Your face alone could sell their lipstick and make it go out of stock in a day! You're literally too pretty for them to handle."
Lunara blinked at her, surprised by the intensity. Then, she let out a small, amused sigh. "You always know how to hype me up. I am just average."
Naomi scoffed, flipping her hair. "Please, if I looked like you, I'd never stop looking in the mirror."
Lunara laughed hearing Naomi's words, she was sure her friend was just trying to cheer her up.
Naomi tapped her chin, pretending to think. "Oh, what's the name of the company again?"
Lunara raised a brow. "Why? Are you planning to storm in there and demand justice for my tragic rejection?"
Naomi smirked. "Obviously. Someone has to let them know they just made the worst mistake of their lives."
She giggled. "Hmm... Auréa Cosmetics, I heard, although they were new, was a sub-company under..." She paused, furrowing her eyebrows to think. "Sol... Sol... hmm, I forgot the name, but I heard they were big."
"Sol?" Naomi frowned. "Are you talking about Solterra Group?"
"Ah yes! Solterra Group. Are they big?" she asked, blinking her eyes, obviously clueless.
There was a few seconds of pause before Naomi replied, "Big? Hmmm maybe... They rank among the top 5 companies in our country, Ara..."
Naomi cupped Lunara's cheek unintentionally, making her lips pout. "Ah, can you survive like this? Not knowing anything. I am afraid you might get fooled by someone one day. You should just mask yourself like you did before..."
Lunara shook her head lightly before turning to get off the bed. "I can't... I need to find work to make sure the shop survives..." Standing up, she turned slightly toward Naomi. "You yourself suggested I should just use my face to make money..." She grinned, blinking playfully.
"Yeah... it's a waste not to use your face..." Naomi smiled, jumping off the bed and wrapping her arm around Lunara's shoulders. "About your mother's shop, are you sure you don't want my help?"
"I told you, I'm just trying to keep the shop afloat until my mom wakes up. So, nope. For now, it's doing just okay," Lunara said. "Can I borrow some clothes today?" She grinned, looking at Naomi.
"Of course! And I'm following you to the shop today! Let's go!"
