My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 754: Meeting the Online Lover
On the day of his departure, Da Bao was laden with luggage on his back and bags in his hands. He felt a bit helpless, but more than that, he felt happy. Lin Feng didn’t care about the cost of checked baggage; he cared about his son’s health. These were things his son absolutely had to eat.
Aside from the two elders, everyone else went to see Da Bao off at the airport.
Xiao Bao was unhappy, pouting with teary eyes.
Da Bao crouched in front of her. "Can’t bear to see your big brother go? Once I get there, I’ll buy you things and send them back."
Xiao Bao mumbled, "I don’t want your things. I have my own money, I can buy them myself."
Da Bao sighed. "Going to work is just like you going to school. There are some things you just have to do."
"Please try to understand, okay? Big brother promises to come back for the New Year. I guarantee it!"
Xiao Bao’s expression finally softened. "Then you have to keep your word! No lying. Liars are puppies, and if you lie, I’ll never talk to you again!"
Da Bao replied with grave seriousness, "Okay, no lies. If I lie to you, I’m a puppy."
Lin Feng wanted to give Da Bao some advice, but when the words reached his lips, he didn’t know where to start. After all, it would just be the same old things: no matter how work went, he hoped his son would live happily and take care of himself.
"Go on. Call us when you get there."
"Mhm, I know, Dad... Mom, I’m leaving. I’ll be back for the New Year. You and Dad take care of yourselves."
Zhang Yuxi smiled faintly. "You don’t need to worry about that; we know what to do. You’re the one who needs to watch your health, no matter how busy you are with work."
"Don’t just stay up late because you’re young. Do you have any idea how bad that is for you?"
Da Bao nodded. "I know, Mom!"
Although Erbao and the others were reluctant to see him go, they could only wave goodbye. Erbao and Si Bao were both in Jingcheng, making it easy for them to meet. Sanbao, however, was overseas, and a single trip back home was exhausting for her. She was the most reluctant to let her big brother go. The others had already said all there was to say, so she had nothing to add.
Seeing her on the verge of tears, Da Bao smiled. "Big brother is leaving. Call me if you need anything."
Sanbao nodded, her voice choked with emotion. "Okay!"
Once Da Bao left, the other children would also be leaving one after another. Zhang Yuxi’s heart ached just thinking about it. In the future, who knows how many more such farewells she would have to experience.
「A few days after Da Bao left」
Sanbao and Shao Yang were departing, and the family gathered once again to see them off. Through the glass, Zhang Yuxi saw Sanbao looking back every few steps. Who would have thought that the child who used to be the most homesick would end up traveling the farthest?
"I asked Sanbao if she liked Shao Yang. She said she wasn’t sure, only that she couldn’t let him go."
"I think she likes him. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have gone so far," Zhang Yuxi mused.
Lin Feng held her hand and nodded in agreement. "She’s a little slow when it comes to her feelings. She’ll figure it out eventually."
Sanbao hadn’t been idle during her time at home. She had made a skirt for Zhang Yuxi, Zhou Cuilan, and Erbao. She also made a printed T-shirt for each of the men, featuring cartoon avatars of the whole family. For Xiao Bao, she made two princess dresses, which made the little girl absolutely ecstatic.
「This month, Lin Daan passed away.」
At the same time, Lin Rui’s eldest daughter-in-law was pregnant. Life truly is an endless cycle. The news sent everyone over the moon. Lin Rui was going to be a grandfather, which meant Lin Dashan was about to become a great-grandfather.
Lin Rui had two sons. After graduating from a good university, they went out to make their mark on the world for a few years. Once they had some real-life experience, they started working for their father. Lin Rui owned three driving schools, not to mention the restaurant and hot pot businesses he co-owned with Lin Feng. He was getting older, so once his sons got the hang of things, he planned to retire.
Both of his daughters-in-law had been introduced through a matchmaker. They were from good families, and their character and looks were impeccable. His second son, however, was a bit of a rascal who loved to have fun and only started to mature when he turned thirty. Lin Rui had been longing to hold a grandchild, but his eagerness was useless. All he could do was worry.
Now, at last, his wish had come true. Lin Rui declared that with the family’s financial standing, having three children would be no problem at all. When his eldest daughter-in-law found out she was pregnant, she was already nearly two months along. Now he just had to wait and see when his second daughter-in-law would conceive.
Zhang Yuxi thought about a little dumpling-like grandchild and figured Erbao would probably be the first of her children to get pregnant. But then she remembered Erbao was in Jingcheng, and it wouldn’t be easy to visit her grandchild, which made her a bit unhappy.
Lin Feng wasn’t thinking about it as much as she was. In the past, he had to consider every little thing when it came to his children. Now, aside from Xiao Bao, they were all grown adults. What was there to consider? 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Was he supposed to consider taking care of grandchildren for them? Lin Feng hadn’t thought about that. Even if he wanted to, they probably wouldn’t let him.
Before Si Bao left, several of the elders pulled him aside and spoke to him earnestly. One moment, they were telling him he should find a girlfriend. The next, they were saying it was okay if he didn’t find one now and that they weren’t pressuring him. Finally, they insisted it wasn’t pressure, just their heartfelt wish.
It’s still too early for me, there’s no rush, Si Bao thought.
After he left, the elders knew. He had listened to their words, but whether he would act on them was another matter entirely.
Sighing, Zhang Yuxi waved her hand dismissively. "Forget it. It’s useless to say more. Let’s not worry ourselves over nothing."
These words were meant for the elders, but in truth, Zhang Yuxi was already starting to feel anxious herself. She understood all the grand principles—that it was best for children to live the lives they wanted, and that if Si Bao chose not to marry, they would support him. In reality, the elders were the ones getting secretly anxious, afraid that pushing too hard would backfire and pressure the child.
When Sanbao left, Lin Feng also packed her large and small bags with countless things. Since she was going so far overseas, he gave her even more, terrified his daughter wouldn’t get to eat his homemade food.
Si Bao and Qin Jiang planned to leave together, so Erbao decided she might as well go with them. She needed to check on the pharmaceutical factory in Jingcheng anyway.
Besides, Si Bao had been chatting with a girl online recently. Since he was leaving soon, he figured they might as well meet up and get to know each other. After all, it wasn’t easy to find a girl willing to chat with him for so long.
The day of the meet-up, the whole family was buzzing with excitement, planning to find a spot to observe what the girl was like. Most importantly, they had to prevent their clueless son from scaring her away.
The location was a café. The time was set for five-thirty in the afternoon. Erbao suggested that if things went well, they could all go out for dinner afterward. See? She had already planned the rest of the evening.
Erbao and Qin Jiang took a seat in an inconspicuous corner. Worried about being recognized, Erbao even put on a pair of sunglasses as a disguise. The old couple, Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi, also found a corner to huddle in. As for Xiao Bao, she waited curiously beside her parents.
At half-past five, a chubby girl carrying a small bag walked in. She stopped at the entrance to make a call, and then Si Bao’s phone rang.
The whole family was stunned. What was going on?
This girl had been introduced to Si Bao by Zhou Cuilan through an acquaintance, who had said the girl was very pretty. Initially, they felt looks weren’t important; character was the main thing. The problem was, she had once sent Si Bao a photo in which she looked quite slender and beautiful. She wasn’t this heavy at all. She had also claimed to be 165 centimeters tall, but she clearly wasn’t. The difference was huge.
Si Bao answered the call, unable to stop himself from glancing back at his family.
My family, your boy is suffering.
But Si Bao was, at heart, a good kid. The thought of backing out at the last second never even crossed his mind. He invited the girl inside for their meeting.
He just wanted to ask her one thing: how could she be so deceptive?
