My Demon Wife In The Apocalypse: I Can Control Minds!-Chapter 80 - 79- Signs Of War (Part 1)
Chapter 79- Signs Of War (Part 1)
As he expected, at first glance, everything seemed to have changed completely. He had gained 8 new levels, 24 extra new points, a new stamp for a skill, and a new title. That is aside from the evolution in his stats, which boosted his strength so much that he couldn’t even describe it in words.
[Name: Jack Ashenblood]
[Age: 17]
[Status: Alive]
[Realm: Earth]
[Level: 19 (250/1900)]
[Bloodline: Unknown]
[Skills: Mind Manipulation- Martialist- Red Lightning- Hypervision- Garden Of Eden]
[Title: Nameless Lord/ Queen Slayer]
[Stats:
Strength: 62 (+20)
Agility: 60 (+20)
Stamina: 63 (+20)
Aether: 194 (+20)
Health: 57 (+20)]
[Bonus Points: 24]
"This is pretty good." Jack nodded wth a satisfied look on his face. The change was drastic, and now all his stats were all 60 or higher except for health. The change was immense; he could even feel that his body was still fixing itself up and getting rid of imperfections slowly and gradually after that massive first change.
’After that Change, even my body needs time to catch up to the pace with everything and understand what is happening.’ He looked at his defined muscles, and he exhaled.
"Ok, it seems my new title is there. ’Queen Slayer’, huh? Well, sounds straightforward enough." He muttered. "I killed their queen after all. But, what could that even give me?"
[Title: Queen Slayer
Description: A Queen is the heart of her people, the organ that must never stop beating. A Queen killer is one who decimates and ends those who follow her. Hatred and anger shall chase them to the end of the realms. Those who are devout followers shall carry their anger toward you till the end of the worlds.]
"Hmm, now that sounds very interesting." Jack rubbed his hair. "This title doesn’t seem very positive. Any devout follower will hate me? What does that even mean?"
From what Liliana said, Jack assumed that all titles give a positive effect that will benefit him in the future. If the title shows that a type of individual will be carrying anger toward him till the end of the world, then how would that really benefit him? It actually sounded like more trouble than anything.
"Well, to be fair, I don’t know what it exactly means by that so it could be something good that I’m just not aware of yet." He thought. "We shall see when the effect of this title start taking shape."
So far, Jack had taken a huge advantage of the Nameless Lord title in manipulating and making sure the masses respect and follow him to a T. Without it, he wasn’t sure if his speeches and behavior could’ve garnered the same positive response he wished for. So, this title could very much do the same thing if not more.
"Time for the skill stamp now." He said as he summoned the stamp. "It wasn’t a Golden Stamp or anything fancy, just a normal one."
As disappointing as that was, Jack was still satisfied to get a new ability added to his arsenal of weapons. The more options he has during battle, the better he will be able to deal with all kinds of situations he will face in the future.
[Ding!]
[You have gained a new skill: The Myth’s Resolve.]
[Name: The Myth’s Resolve.
Level: 1
Effect: Using this ability, you can infuse any weapon with concentrated Aether, increases overall damage by 50% for one hit. Requires Aether to use.]
"Woah..." Jack’s eyes widened as he stared at the screen in front of him. He was quite taken aback by the new ability. "This is pretty damn good."
He didn’t even need to try this ability to understand how truly amazing it is. To be able to make a supercharged attack that deals 50% more damage to any target was a huge thing. It also solved the problem of facing enemies that are stronger than Jack’s sword and are able to tank his heavy attacks.
’However, there are two possible flaws. How long would charging my sword take, and how long does the effect last before I can do that hit.’
Both were key to whether it would be useful in all kinds of battles or only for sneak attacks.
"I will have to experiment later." He muttered. "As for the extra points... Hmmm, I might as well just split them between all the stats."
With that in mind, he did exactly that, gaining more and more power. At this point, Jack was as strong as 7 people combined. It was ridiculous how much he improved in just two days. It hasn’t even been a week, and he was already improving so fast.
That reminded him of Liliana’s words about his ridiculous talent. At this point, he was starting to believe those things, as it was clear he was a cut above everyone else in everything. The closest is Luna, and even she cannot compare to him that much.
"I’m also feeling quite rejuvenated... Maybe I can go train now and see how my new abilities behave."
Contemplating for a moment, Jack decided to just rest instead. He couldn’t risk leaving this world when everyone needs him. He needs to rest mentally so he gets ready for tomorrow. Things could become a lot worse very quickly.
Closing his system window, he laid down on the bed, ready to close his eyes to get some sleep.
’I survived another long day. I wonder if every day will feel like this in the future.’
As much as everything was exciting for him, Jack still wants to have peaceful days in the future where he can relax without worrying about anything or doing anything. He was still a human who liked rest.
’I will have to work hard toward that goal. Days where I can freely relax without having to fight.’ He turned to his side and finally started letting sleep take over him. His vision blurred, his eyes closing and opening a few times in between as he finally let his consciousness drift away.
However, almost a split second after, or an hour after that, Jack’s entire body was shook violently as he woke up.
"Jack! Wake up! Jack!"
"Huh? What happened?" The boy looked up and saw Luna staring at him with a horrified look on her face.
"They’re here! Those insects are here!"
"..." The boy’s eyes flashed with a glint before he quickly stood up and picked up his sword. "From where?"
"Come with me."
The two quickly ran out of the room where they found the entire base in chaos. Everyone was running everywhere, and screams filled the entire place.
"We are doomed! They are here!"
"What should we do?!"
As they ran, Jack watched the scenes.
"Jack!"
On the way, they found Alex, who approached them in a hurry.
"Call for the others and try to stop the chaos! I’m going outside to check the situation! You, Luna, I want you to prepare what I told you about earlier today."
"Roger that!"
The two quickly moved out to do their tasks while Jack headed outside as quickly as he could. It was dark outside with some faint light from the large headlights planted inside the base. Jack decided to keep these on to make visibility a bit better for the guards outside.
It seemed his idea was very useful. There, he found people shooting with their guns at the sky with large flashes of light everywhere.
"There you are! We are being attacked, boy!" Hermann came in a hurry.
The boy didn’t reply and stared up, using Hypervision to see. That was when he caught sight of it. Countless large dots are flying in the sky at high speeds. He couldn’t count how many, and judging from their size, they were as big, if not a bit bigger, than the normal insects.
’They gained the ability to fly. Dammit. How rapid is their evolution?’ Jack clenched his teeth as he quickly rushed to the wall and climbed up to get a better look.
"They aren’t immediately attacking; instead, they’re clustering up above the base. What are they planning?"
The gun sounds echoed in the world, and the yells of the soldiers loudened. The boy unsheathed his sword.
"Are they fully invading now? Is this really it?"
It was far too early. No one was prepared, even after an entire day of training; Jack doubted he had enough people to actually face these things.
"For now, I should try to make them scatter. Letting them cluster like that doesn’t sit right with me." He muttered as he charged his hand with lightning. A big ball of energy clustered on the palm of his hand, and then he blasted it forward at top speed.
*BOOOOOOM*
The lightning bolt flew up at extremely fast speeds, slamming into the cluster of insects. A wave of energy exploded everywhere in a colorful way. The entire sky was lit up and he heard the screeches of insects as they started falling to the ground, one by one.
