My Divine system-Chapter 41: dungeon outbreak
Not long after, all the students of the academy were gathered in the massive academy hall, standing shoulder to shoulder in long rows that stretched from one end of the chamber to the other. The hall itself, with its towering marble pillars and glowing crystal chandeliers, felt unusually heavy, as if the walls themselves understood the weight of the announcement to come.
The atmosphere was thick with unease. Each student carried a different expression—some wore wide, frightened eyes, their bodies trembling slightly as they clutched at their uniforms, while others looked irritated or restless, already bored by what they assumed would be another tiresome lecture. A few of the more confident ones leaned against the pillars, their lips curled into smirks, whispering carelessly as if none of this concerned them.
Despite the varied reactions, there was one thing they all had in common: none of them were allowed to leave. The great oak doors of the hall were shut tight, guarded by stern-looking instructors whose sharp gazes warned against even the slightest attempt at escape. The students had no choice but to wait in silence, the murmurs fading into a tense hush as they realized this was no ordinary assembly.
Whispers had been spreading throughout the academy grounds, reporting a major dungeon outbreak. Most dismissed these tales as exaggerated gossip. But now, seeing the grim faces of the instructors and the heavy air that hung in the hall, the truth began to settle in.
They were here for something serious. Something dangerous. Something that concerned them all.
And soon, the headmaster would step forward to reveal it—the dungeon outbreak. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Of course, this wasn’t humanity’s first outbreak, but each one always left a huge scar, as the number of casualties and destruction were always high, with properties and lives lost. Even awakened tend to lose their lives.
Soon enough, the doors of the hall opened, and the principal of the academy stepped in.
The principal of the academy was a man whose very presence commanded silence. Tall and broad-shouldered, he carried himself with the steady poise of someone who had seen countless battles and lived to tell the tale. His long coat, black with silver embroidery at the cuffs, flowed behind him like the shadow of authority itself. Every step he took echoed through the hall, striking a rhythm that made the nervous students straighten unconsciously.
His face was carved with sharp lines, aged not by weakness but by experience. A pair of piercing gray eyes scanned the hall with an intensity that made it feel as though he could read every thought running through the students’ minds. A neatly kept beard framed his jaw, streaked with threads of white that spoke of wisdom rather than frailty.
Though he rarely raised his voice, when he spoke the weight of his words carried across the hall with ease, deep and steady, like thunder rolling over distant mountains. Some students admired him, others feared him, but none could ignore him. He was the type of leader who didn’t need to demand respect; his very presence wove it into the air. Each person in that room was sure of one thing: the principal of Arcseraph Academy was not just a mere hunter; he had ascended to a high level, a great feat, as each path is tougher than the last. Eighty percent of awakened don’t make it through their second dungeon.
Not long after, the principal was standing before the students, and there was a moment of silence, as if the room held its breath, afraid to make a sound. Even legacies and powerhouses remained silent, waiting for the principal to begin his announcement.
The principal raised his hand to draw the attention of the students, which confused Michael, as everyone’s attention was already focused on him.
"You have all received the news of the dungeon outbreak?" the principal asked, but didn’t wait for a reply before continuing.
"This outbreak is poised to attack many major cities and even villages. Already, many have lost their lives, and even more are perishing as we speak; the number of deceased is increasing rapidly. The government is trying their best to handle the situation, but they won’t be able to cover all those areas in time, meaning even more will lose their lives."
The principal paused, allowing a moment of suspense, so every word could sink in. "That’s why the government has asked for the help of all major academies to aid them. So, I’m here to say that Arcseraph Academy is joining the fight to protect humanity."
Immediately, those words left his mouth, and pandemonium erupted.
Many students disliked the idea of risking their lives for others, especially those from powerful families. While the poorer students didn’t complain, it was clear from their expressions that they were scared. The legacies, however, didn’t blink; some were even happy about the prospect.
Michael wasn’t happy about the idea of risking his life, but he didn’t let it show. He remained calm, as this concerned the lives of individuals.
Of the students from poor backgrounds, only a few showed no expression to the news, among them Michael and the peculiar student whose demeanor allowed him to feel no pain. In fact, the other student had a smile on his face, which Michael found unsettling—who would smile at the prospect of a dungeon outbreak, massive casualties, and the need to fight? Even some legacies couldn’t help but be creeped out; some who stood near him even tried to distance themselves to avoid getting "bitten." Everyone thought the same thing: this guy is mad.
"What a weird dude," Michael muttered, shaking his head.
If anything Michael was sure that the dude seriously had some screw lose but Michael had to admit he was a good awaken and a strong one at that and in a world of hunters power and strength means a lot more than words after all action speaks louder than words.
And right now the Arcseraph Academy is about to take action
