My Dreams Connect to Ancient Times-Chapter 167 - 21: If a Daoist Lineage Is to Be Founded, Revere Me as Supreme
In the Current World, he would quietly bide his time and build up his strength to crush Sakata Heavy Industries. In Ancient Times, he still had eighty-one days to prepare. After those eighty-one days...
He would slay Duke Huan of Qi.
If nothing unexpected happened, the Keeper of the Records would most likely be shattered in eighty-one days. When that time came, he would have to fulfill his teacher’s request.
"When the Keeper of the Records shatters, you must take this scroll of the *Tao Te Ching* and spread its teachings to the world."
As he pondered, Qing He, who was beside him, asked a question.
"Mr. Lu, where are we going now...?"
Lu Xuan snapped out of his thoughts. After a moment, he said,
"I plan on handling some paperwork first to establish a Daoist Lineage in this city. What do you two think?"
Qing Ping was as stoic as ever, merely giving a slow nod. Although Qing He was puzzled, he didn’t ask why, only saying,
"If you’re establishing a Daoist Lineage, you’ll certainly need disciples. But Mr. Lu, where are you going to find disciples at a time like this?"
"Once the Daoist Lineage is established, I can just slowly recruit them, can’t I?"
"But..." Qing He gave a helpless smile. "You only look like you’re in your early teens. With such a youthful face, even if you did establish a Daoist Lineage, I doubt many people would join..."
Lu Xuan paused, taken aback. On second thought, he realized the man had a point.
After a moment of contemplation, he looked up and said,
"How about this: I’ll go ask about the process and get the paperwork done in advance. When it’s time to officially establish the Daoist Lineage, I’ll just change my appearance. Won’t that solve it?"
Qing Ping remained stoic, while Qing He nodded slightly.
"That could work."
Although he didn’t know why this young ancestor of his suddenly wanted to establish a Daoist Lineage, he couldn’t be bothered to press the matter and simply asked offhandedly,
"Since this is a Daoist Lineage you’re establishing yourself, Mr. Lu, who will it revere? What I mean is, which ancient figure will the lineage trace its roots back to as its founder? You can’t just pick one at random. After all, you are a member of our Guangcheng Palace, and our Jade Void Ancestor is a secret that can’t be openly announced to the world..."
Lu Xuan understood what Qing He meant. Whether it was a complete Daoist Lineage or a lesser Daoist temple or sect, they would always invent an origin for themselves, regardless of whether it was true. This allowed them to connect their history to some Ancient Immortal God or Great Divine Power User.
As the ’Old Ancestor’ of Guangcheng Palace, he couldn’t use the Jade Void Ancestor as the origin for the Daoist Lineage he wanted to establish. At the same time, he couldn’t just randomly pick an Immortal God or Great Divine Power User from the scriptures to be the object of its faith.
As he mulled it over, Lu Xuan suddenly recalled something his teacher had once said. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"When you establish this Daoist Lineage, you shall revere yourself."
The boy’s eyes lit up, and he said with a smile,
"One will be Supreme Profound Clarity, another will be Fusheng Lu Xuan, and we’ll add Supreme Emperor Profound Yellow. How does that sound?"
"Huh?" Qing He was dumbfounded. "Who is this revered deity, Supreme Profound Clarity? And Fusheng Lu Xuan... isn’t that you? As for Supreme Emperor Profound Yellow, isn’t that... isn’t that the deity worshipped by Dragon Tiger Mountain?"
Lu Xuan just smiled without explaining. He waved his hand and hailed a taxi.
Qing He and Qing Ping sat in the back, while Lu Xuan took the front passenger seat and said to the driver,
"To the Comprehensive Management Bureau."
The Comprehensive Management Bureau. He had looked it up online beforehand; establishing a new sect, a Daoist Lineage, or even a martial arts dojo all fell under the jurisdiction of this administrative body.
The middle-aged driver grinned and nodded.
"You got it!"
With that, he slammed his foot on the accelerator. The old gasoline-powered car roared to life and shot forward at an incredible speed.
"It takes most people half an hour to get to the Comprehensive Management Bureau from here. But with me, you’ll be there in fifteen minutes, guaranteed!"
Lu Xuan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "It’s better to go a bit slower, really..."
The driver kept one hand on the wheel and slapped his chest with the other. "Slower? Not a chance!"
As he spoke, he pressed down even harder on the accelerator.
But soon enough, the car slowed down.
They were stuck in traffic.
"What’s going on?" The driver stuck his head out the window, peered ahead for a moment, and muttered,
"Looks like the road ahead is completely blocked... But don’t worry, all three of you. With me here, there’s no way we’ll be late!"
"Don’t worry about it," Lu Xuan said with a smile. "We’re not in a rush."
The driver just chuckled and said no more. Seeing an opportunity, he slowly squeezed into an adjacent lane. Compared to the other lanes that were at a complete standstill, the cars in this one were at least still inching forward.
But the good times didn’t last. As they neared the traffic light, they came to a complete stop.
Lu Xuan was also a bit curious and peered ahead. It looked like some sort of protest march, but it was too far away for him to see clearly.
The taxi was frozen in the stream of cars. It would inch forward, wait an eternity, then inch forward again, until it finally stopped moving altogether.
"Damn it," the driver cursed. "I should’ve checked the almanac before leaving home today. It’s that bunch of old folks protesting again..."
"What’s going on?" Lu Xuan asked curiously.
"You don’t know?"
The driver gave Lu Xuan a surprised look, then said,
"You must be new to Langya City, kid. Up ahead are a bunch of old men and women protesting, demanding the government improve their retirement benefits and whatnot. They do this once a week... Hey, hey, hey!"
The driver frantically laid on the horn, but the luxurious-looking car in front of them kept reversing until, with a BANG, it hit the front of the taxi.
A moment later, an infuriated woman got out of the driver’s seat, strode over, and slammed her fist on the window.
"Are you blind? We’re all stuck in traffic, how could you just ram into me?!"
The driver looked at the bejeweled woman and immediately lost his nerve, saying with a bitter smile,
"Miss, your car rolled back. You hit me..."
"Bullshit!" the woman shrieked, her finger jabbing wildly as spit flew from her mouth.
Lu Xuan frowned and spoke in a calm voice.
"Ma’am, your car did indeed reverse into ours."
"You shut up!" The woman put her hands on her hips and started screaming even louder, the perfect picture of a shrew.
In the back seat, Qing He and Qing Ping stared at each other in dismay. Having lived in Guangcheng Palace deep in the mountains for so many years, they had never witnessed a spectacle like this.
The driver couldn’t help but talk back, but was immediately drowned in a torrent of curses. Seeing this, Lu Xuan, who had been about to say more, swallowed his words.
’He couldn’t possibly get into a shouting match with this shrew in the middle of the street, nor could he just slap her to death... The latter was out of the question; he wouldn’t do something like that. As for the former, if Xiaoyan ever found out, he’d be laughed at for ages.’
As the woman continued to shriek, a young man got out of the car up ahead. He looked to be her son, judging by the strong family resemblance.
He walked over aggressively, slammed his hand on the car’s hood, and yelled at the driver,
"Come on, get out of the car and say that! Get out!"
The driver silently rolled up the window, then turned to Lu Xuan with a bitter smile.
"Looks like I really didn’t check the almanac today... What a mess."
"It is rather troublesome." Lu Xuan glanced at the time. It was almost noon. If he remembered correctly, the Comprehensive Management Bureau closed for a two-hour lunch break.
Outside, seeing the window roll up, the mother and son grew even more furious. They started banging on the hood of the car, creating a loud racket. Many other drivers were now watching the spectacle.
"Forget it. We’ll get out here." Fed up with the nuisance, Lu Xuan handed the fare to the driver and, under the driver’s confused gaze, motioned for Qing Ping and Qing He to get out of the car.
"What? You think I’m scared just because there are three of you?" the woman continued to shriek, pointing at them. "Why’d you get out? You looking for a fight?"
The young man also stepped forward. He stretched his muscles, producing the Tiger and Leopard Thunder Sound. It turned out he was a Cultivator at the second stage of the Jade Tower.
Lu Xuan couldn’t be bothered with them and paid them no mind, simply giving a slight nod to Qing He and Qing Ping.
Seeing this, the woman’s yelling grew even more vicious, spittle flying everywhere. And then...
"Silence," the boy calmly commanded as a wisp of his aura descended upon them.
The shouts of the woman and the young man stopped abruptly. A terrifying pressure nearly suffocated them. Their hearts pounded wildly, and their bodies trembled uncontrollably.
Beads of cold sweat rolled down their faces. They realized their mistake and wanted to apologize, to make amends, but they couldn’t utter a single word, cowering under a pressure that felt like a tidal wave.
Then, under the stunned gazes of the crowd, Lu Xuan, Qing He, and Qing Ping calmly began to walk, rising into the air with each step.
Finally, a dazzling Spiritual Radiance erupted from the boy in the lead. He transformed into a blazing Great Sun and shot through the sky, disappearing from sight.
The mother and son collapsed to the ground in terror, trembling uncontrollably. A chill filled their hearts, and a tingling numbness shot up their spines.
"A... a Celestial Human!"
The two of them scrambled and crawled back into their car.
