Chapter 241: Trapped

Dissociative identity disorder or DID is a mental health condition. A person with DID has multiple and distinct personalities. Each identity controls the person’s behavior at different times. The disorder can cause memory loss, delusions, or depression.

The identities have their own personal traits, history, likes, and dislikes. It can lead to gaps in memory and hallucinations, believing something is real when it isn’t. Dissociative identity disorder used to be called multiple personality disorder or split personality disorder.

I glanced at Jayden sleeping on the other side of the bed. I sighed after reading some information about his illness.

Earlier in the restaurant, I thought he would hurt the waiter who bumped into him. Jayden looked so different when I saw him. He had this dark aura coming out from his body, and it was like Alora. freёweɓnovel.com

I remembered the first time Alora switched personalities. We were on vacation, and at first, we didn’t notice that the woman in front of us was one of her alternate identities.

Peggy’s memory...

Luke brought her to the restaurant, where we booked a reservation for dinner. I and the others waited for them for almost an hour, but we didn’t mind. The trip was for Alora, anyway. It was a gift from Luke.

"What took you so long? We’re starving? Alora, sit beside me. I have something to ask." Nina exclaimed.

She silently sat beside Nina. And we never noticed that she was not Alora. Everyone was busy with their phones or chatting with one another, and we didn’t see anything different towards her.

The waiter came to take our orders, and we continued to chat while we waited for our food to arrive.

A group of girls suddenly came inside the restaurant and sat at the table next to us. They were laughing loudly while chatting with each other. We could hear their conversation as they talked about Jayden and the boys.

"That’s quite rude. They know there are girls with you guys and still having that conversation." I exclaimed.

I was beginning to get mad at those bitchs because one of them gave Jayden a naughty look.

Although I was pissed, the dinner went smoothly. Alora never uttered a word. She was just listening to us. We didn’t ask her why she was so quiet because we thought she was not feeling well.

We were at the parking lot when the group of girls from earlier approached us.

"Hi boys! Care to tell us your names?" One girl asked. Her face looked ordinary, but she stood out because of her heavy makeup, making her look like a hooker.

"Hey, don’t you think it’s rude to ask someone when you already know they are with somebody?" I asked, annoyed.

"Oh! You are just friends, right? I don’t think that boy beside you is your boyfriend or anything. He’s cute. Would you like to hang out with us?" She said while looking at Jayden.

I was so pissed and wanted to slap the bitch in the face, but I was surprised when Alora walked towards the girl and hit her in the face. It was so strong that the girl’s lower lip bled.

Luke rushed into her and held her hand.

"What are you doing?" Luke asked.

Alora looked into her fiance’s eyes and grinned. Then she faced the girl in front of us.

"If you want more, I can always take you on." Then I saw her taste the ounce of blood in her thumb.

She smirked, and I knew it was a warning. Alora had this cold and murderous aura all over her while she glared at the girl. I felt a sudden coldness on my nape, making my hair stand.

I can also see the terrified look on everyone’s faces. I knew our friends had already noticed that it was not Alora.

"Can you leave now? We don’t want any more trouble." Sophie’s voice was trembling.

The girls didn’t say a word and quickly left.

"Luke, what is this? Is it her?" Percy asked.

"Yes. I’m sorry for not telling you earlier. This is Camila, Alora’s one of her other selves. It was not my intention to hide it from you, but I didn’t feel any danger in her from the time we left at our suite until after dinner." Luke confessed.

I stared at her, and she really didn’t seem dangerous. Yes, she was quiet, but I know she was just listening to every conversation we had earlier.

"For real?" Jayden walked towards her. "Hey did you kill the guys who kidnapped you?" He asked while grinning. For some reason, Jayden was not afraid of her.

My eyes widened when Jayden asked her that. He had this wide grin on his face and seemed amused seeing Alora’s other self.

Then Alora suddenly cupped Jayden’s face and smirked. We were alarmed, and I felt like my heart would burst out from nervousness. I rushed into Jayden’s side and held onto Alora’s wrist.

"Hey. Can you stop that?" I said, looking at her.

I felt scared when I looked into her eyes. There was nothing in there, but coldness, and anger.

"Why? Is this your boyfriend?" She asked. Then she stared at Jayden’s eyes.

"You’re a fake." It’s almost a whisper, but I heard it. Jayden froze when Alora said those words.

Back then, Jayden hadn’t told me about his illness. He was afraid that I would see him differently, so he didn’t bother to tell me.

But I noticed Luke knew something. He was staring at his fiance and Jayden, and he didn’t seem surprised when Alora mentioned that Jayden was a fake.

Alora’s other self released Jayden and looked at every one of us.

"Hahahahaha. Alora really has interesting friends. This is getting me excited. I think I’ll stay here." Then she let out that evil laugh again.

I know Luke was trying to be calm, but he couldn’t control his annoyance, so he walked towards her and grabbed her arms.

"Stop it! Try staying here and you’ll regret it!" Luke almost yelled.

Then we heard her sniffling quietly. I frowned again. Is she crying? I thought to myself.

"Are you mad, Luke?" She asked in between sobs.

Then she looked at Luke, and we saw tears flowing from her eyes. The woman earlier wasn’t there anymore. She’s not Camila and not Alora either, but a different personality.

She continued to cry. Confusion was written on everyone’s faces.

"Angel?" Luke asked.

Then she cried louder. Luke pulled her into his arms and caressed her back to calm her down.

"Shhh. It’s okay. I’m sorry. I’m not mad." He let her cry into his chest as we waited for her to stop crying.

"Are you okay now?" Luke asked when she stopped crying.

She nodded but didn’t say a word.

"Can we go back to the hotel for now? I think I’m having a headache." Nina said while touching her temple.

So we went back to the hotel and stayed in their suite to talk to Alora. Luke said this girl’s name was Angel.

Sophie gave her a glass of water as we observed her actions. She was a lot different from Camila. She was like a child since, according to Luke, Angel was the younger version of Alora. I can see in her the Alora I knew when she was still a kid.

"Can you tell us where Alora is?" Luke asked.

"She’s trapped." She answered while sitting on the couch between Sophie and Emily.

"Trapped where?" Sophie mumbled.

"In the darkness. It’s my fault. She asked for her, so I pushed her in the dark." Then she started sobbing again.

Emily held her hand and asked.

"Why did you push her, and what does she want from her?"

"She said she wanted to meet the people around her. She wanted to see if Alora could trust them." She let out a sniffle and wiped her eyes.

She really was just a child. I thought inwardly.

I heard Luke exhale deeply and had a frown on his face.

"Can she get out of there? Do you think you can reach her?" It was Percy who asked.

She shook her head. "It depends on Alora. She needs to find her own light in the darkness. If she lets her fear, doubt and despair consume her, she will be devoured by the darkness, and she will be trapped there." Angel said.

"For how long?" Andrew asked, curiosity piqued.

"I’m not sure. As long as she’s in there, the four of us can switch randomly if we want to. If we don’t, she’ll be unconscious, and her physical body will deteriorate. In short, she’ll fall into a coma again."

That was Alora’s other self told us. She said Alora was trapped in her own mind. Is Jayden the same?

I sighed then raised my hand to touch my husband’s face.

"Are you trapped somewhere again, love? Are you switching with your other selves without me knowing? I’m here, love. Do you remember what I told you? Just follow my voice, and you will see the light."

I leaned forward, then gently pressed my lips on his forehead, wishing and hoping that the real Jayden would find his way back to me.
