My Exclusive Dream World Adventures-Chapter 81 - 0 Fierce Battle
Chapter 81: 081 Fierce Battle
Chen Xu’s scope in front had an automatic zoom function. When a small dot appeared in his field of view, it automatically zoomed in, allowing him to see the other side clearly.
It was a kind of arthropod creature, with a dark brown carapace covering its body, a streamlined head, and a slender shape, more than two meters long. It ran on all fours and could leap several meters in one bound, moving incredibly fast.
He glanced at the creature and an instinctual fear gripped him. His finger involuntarily pressed the firing button.
Bang.
A muffled sound came from the muzzle, and he could feel a slight vibration in his palm.
In the scope, the streamlined head burst open, spraying black liquid in all directions.
He had no time to observe; several more black dots popped up in his view.
Bang, bang, bang…
Several shots rang out, and the Acid Ant Beasts fell to the ground. One shot went astray and hit a shoulder. After it fell, it staggered back to its feet.
“Such tenacity for life.”
The sight alarmed him. Through the scope, he could clearly see that one of its forelimbs and half of its body had been blasted away, yet it could still stand.
Bang.
He fired another shot, hitting it squarely in the head, and this time it fell and remained motionless.
Before he could catch his breath, a dense swarm of black dots appeared in his view. The sheer number made his scalp tingle.
“Damn.”
He cursed, aiming at each black dot and frantically pressing the firing button.
Bang, bang, bang…
The muzzle continuously expelled laser shots, and the Acid Ant Beasts with their ferocious appearances kept falling in the distance. But more and more black dots kept emerging, growing larger and larger.
Watching the alien beasts approach exerted massive psychological pressure on him. His entire body tensed up, which caused his aim to falter multiple times, affecting his hit rate.
In just a few seconds, the bodies of the Acid Ant Beasts littered the ground, and yet, more kept coming endlessly.
Zzz—
Suddenly, the familiar sensation of vibration in his hand didn’t come. Instead, an abnormal alert sounded.
He came back to his senses from the tense and excited state and was shocked to notice a red warning on the scope, “Barrel overheated and damaged, please replace barrel.”
Crap.
He suddenly remembered that these high-energy laser guns could only fare fifty shots before the barrel overheated due to firing rapidly in succession.
His nerves had been so frayed, he had completely forgotten about it.

This lapse wasted precious seconds.
As the Acid Ant Beasts closed in rapidly, he yanked a switch beside him. The seat beneath him emptied, his body plummeted down and fell in the corridor, cushioned by a soft, spongy airbag beneath his bottom, leaving him unharmed.
He rushed toward another weapons station with utmost speed, opened the storage compartment above, climbed up in two or three steps, and jumped back onto the seat.
As soon as he turned on the scope, he saw an Acid Ant Beast pounce at the weapons station he’d just occupied, its forelimbs piercing the alloy shield and tearing the metal apart.
This scene made his eyelids twitch.
That was an alloy shield several centimeters thick, and it was ripped open. Its claws were that sharp.
Without hesitation, he pressed the firing button and blew the head off the Acid Ant Beast.
Beyond that one, six or seven more Acid Ant Beasts lunged toward him.
Bang, bang, bang…
He swung the seat around, sweeping the muzzle across a group of Acid Ant Beasts and firing off a series of lasers, shredding them to pieces. At last, he cleared everything within ten meters.
But behind them, another group of Acid Ant Beasts turned and pounced toward him.
“Has S01 arrived yet?”
Chen Xu looked at the dozens of Acid Ant Beasts just over ten meters away, shooting while yelling into the headset, sweat beginning to bead on his forehead.
“Thirty seconds before arrival.”
The reply from 2003 rang in his ear. Chen Xu cursed angrily, knowing it was a matter of life and death, his eyes suddenly bloodshot.
Bang—
Suddenly, in his perception, everything around him seemed to slow down, as if the whole world had been put in slow motion. Even the recoil from the laser gun felt incredibly slow.
He realized he had once again entered that mysterious state.
Thirty-eight Acid Ant Beasts in total.
With just a glance, this information automatically appeared in his mind: which one moved a bit faster, which one was a bit shorter—all the details were clearly reflected in his brain.
Bang, bang, bang…
The high-energy laser gun’s fastest firing rate was one shot every 0.5 seconds. To kill all thirty Acid Ant Beasts, at best, would take fifteen seconds.
At their speed, they could pounce within ten seconds and tear through the outer protective plating in one or two seconds, easily finishing him off.
As far as the calculations went, he was a dead man.
He understood this in the brief interval between two laser shots.
When the muzzle fired the laser again, it simultaneously took out two heads.
Bang. Another shot, two more burst.
Bang, bang, bang.
Six more heads exploded.
Then, he felt as if time rushed back like the tide, returning to its original speed, exiting the superhuman state.
Bang, bang—
He was unaffected, his hands still steady, two shots took out three heads and incidentally half of an Acid Ant Beast’s shoulder.
In just five seconds, he’d killed sixteen Acid Ant Beasts and crippled another.
Bang, bang, bang…
Five seconds, four seconds, three seconds…
Seventeen, eighteen, nineteen…
When the twenty-sixth Acid Ant Beast’s head burst open, one of the creatures behind finally reached him, stabbing forward with its two claws.
Amidst a grating sound of metal tearing that could make one’s teeth sour, Chen Xu blew its head apart, simultaneously blasting a huge hole through the torso of the one behind it.
With a loud clunk, a noise came from above.
The last intact Acid Ant Beast had jumped on top.
Directly above was the blind spot of the laser gun.
Squee—ah—
Among the sounds of metal twisting, Chen Xu’s scalp tingled. He knocked away the oncoming beast that had a damaged shoulder. Then he pulled out a handgun from his waistband, aiming upward.
At this moment, the Acid Ant Beast above had already torn a gap in the fully enclosed metal plate, just big enough to reveal its mouthparts; within its wide-open jaws, sharp teeth like saw blades and a long tongue dripping with mucus were visible.
It was as if he could smell a sour stench. Terrified and disgusted, he pulled the trigger frantically.
Bullets struck the Acid Ant Beast’s head, spattering dark green mucus that sizzled as it hit the neighboring alloy plate.
Chen Xu didn’t stop firing the handgun until it was empty.
The head of the Acid Ant Beast above became like tattered fabric, its body toppling over, head stuck in the tear, a large amount of green mucus flowing down. Amid the sizzling sound, the tear rapidly widened.
Such terrifying corrosiveness.
Chen Xu had just narrowly escaped death, his spirit still unsettled, when he was startled again.
