Chapter 97: 97. The Final Duel.

Then the flames peeled around him, which were slowed by sheer control rather than resistance.

And Drax eyes widened as Saber leaped and twisted his body before driving his fist into Drax jaw with everything he had left.

The impact snapped Drax’s head sideways as he crashed into a nearby stone, skidding across the floor before slamming into the barrier with a thunderous crack.

Silence

The whole arena silent as they watched Drax trying to stand up but failing..

His arms shook and he collapsed on the floor.

Seeing this, officials instantly rushed over to check out his vitals

Noticing that he was okay, the officials gave Lilith a thumbs up and she smiled as she landed between them before turning toward Saber and the spectators

"We have a winner. Prince Saber of House Capra." She announced and her voice was carried across the entire arena.

The arena erupted and the Capra Demon Lord cheered as well as he suddenly stood up from his seat to celebrate his son finally winning against the son of his greatest rival.

"Yeah!!!" He cheered with his fingers curled into a fist as he lifted both hands above his head.

It took him a while to realize what he had actually done, but when he did, he instantly cleared his throat before returning back to his seat.

Meanwhile, Saber stood where he was

His chest was rising and falling steadily.

He didn’t celebrate instantly because he still couldn’t believe what had happened, but slowly, his lips began to spread into a smile and the realization slowly dawned on him that he had really won this fight.

Acknowledging this, Saber turned around with pride as he stepped out of the arena while his fans clapped hard for him.

Now, the third place had been known, meaning that only the final battle remained, and everyone’s attention slowly shifted toward the arena entrance, hoping and waiting to see the final two contestants stepping out to have their brawl..

The projection crystals were now displaying two names for everyone to see.

Prince Astaroth of House Gremory and,

Princess Astrid of House Belphegor.

But while everyone were busy waiting for them to step out into the arena, Aster and Astrid were still standing near the entrance, but no one could see them right now.

Both of them remained silent as they stared out of the arena but Aster turned toward her to ask.

"Astrid, what’s wrong, you’ve been...."

Since the tournament began, Astrid had been avoiding Aster but he couldn’t understand her reasoning behind this, so he wanted to know why she had been doing this, but before Aster could completely ask her the question he wanted to ask, Astrid interrupted him mid-sentence.

"Aster?" She called out and Aster kept quiet to listen to what she had to say.

"This fight is very important to me and that means I’m going to do whatever it takes to win." Astrid clenched her fists as she said this and Aster noticed this.

He also noticed how Astrid seemed serious about this fight, and he nodded in response.

Though he didn’t know the outcome of what Astrid’s discussion with her mom was, but he knew he would only be able to find out when the tournament had come to an end.

And so, with his mind focused on the final battle, Aster faced forwards as the two of them stepped out into the arena.

The crowds cheered excitedly and everyone watched as the two of them stepped into the center of the arena.

Once the two of them had taken their positions, Lilith announced.

"Begin!!"

And the battle began with Astrid moving first.

And the moment she did, the temperature plummeted instantly with frost spreading across the stony platform.

The air also got crystallized and cold mist filled up the entire platform, making it difficult for Aster and the spectators to see clearly.

However, Aster remained firm on where he stood, then he ignited his body in flames.

The flames formed a veil that hissed violently as it made contact with the ice around him.

Steam exploded outward and the arena floor began to crack under pressure but Astrid didn’t stop.

She stepped through the mist and thrust a spear of condensed frost which was formed mid motion and it flew straight for Aster’s chest, but he twisted aside to evade her attack before catching the spear with his bare hands.

The ice shattered into tiny pieces but Astrid was already there.

Her elbow struck for his throat but Aster blocked and countered it with a short punch that detonated fire at point blank rage.

Astrid slid back in a way that her books carved twin lines through frozen stones.

Neither had landed a clean hit yet but it was clear for everyone to see.

Both of these two contestants were really strong.

Astrid raised her hand and the mist condensed violently to form ice pillars which erupted from the ground in rapid succession to stab upward in a deadly pattern that was clearly aimed to restrict Aster’s movement.

But he leaped away and flames exploded beneath his feet.

It launched him high into the air and Aster twisted mid flight before hurling a blade of fire downward.

Astrid looked up and snapped her fingers, causing the air around her to freeze and the fire blade to slow down before shattering as it tired to reach her.

Aster managed to land but Astrid was already moving as she slid forward in a blur to drive her palm into his ribs.

Frost surged inward and strike straight into his muscles.

Aster grunted and retaliated instantly with his knee slamming into her abdomen with a huge heat of flames bursting outward, causing Astrid to be thrown back several meters and skidding across the stone.

The crowds roared but they clashed again and again, with fire slamming against ice.

Steam exploded with every exchange of battle but Aster pressed forward with relentless pressure as Astrid responded and perfect control, trying her best to redirect Aster’s force with precise attacks of hers

The battle continued with neither showing exhaustion and neither hesitating to take a move...

Aster unleashed a wide arc of flame that scorched half the arena but Astrid responded by freezing the ground beneath him, so as to disrupt his footing, just long enough to drive a spear through his shoulder.

The fire flared violently and the ice melted.

Aster ripped the spear free and hurled it aside as he surged forward with flames coiling around his arms

Astrid raised both hands and ice condensed to form a wall of ice that slammed into Aster head on, burying him beneath layered ice, allowing the whole arena to turn silent as the crowds watched in worry.

But then the ice exploded and fire tore through it from the inside as Aster emerged while breathing hard with his eyes now burning brighter than before.

Seeing this, the crowds lost control as they cheered in excitement.

"Hohoho...the dragon prince looks pissed off. This is so amazing."

"Go!! Princess Astrid!! You can do it!! Show the boys even girls are stronger than them!!!".

"Yeah!!!"

As if Astrid had heard what that female demon had said, her breathing deepened and focused her attention completely on her target in front of her.

Aster did the same as well and the two of them moved one last time.

Astrid gathered everything she could muster and Aster did the same as their fire and ice collided at the center of the arena in a blinding surge that cracked the stone floor down to its foundation.

The shockwave blasted outward and forced the protective barrier to break through the stands.

But now the entire arena was now filled with silence and a lot of steam.

The crowds waited for the steam to clear away and to their surprise, once it did, the first thing they noticed was Aster standing with one knee on the ground while Astrid had both of her hands braced against the ground

The steam cleared between them even more and both tried to get up once again but Lilith descended and said. "Enough!!!"

Lilith glanced around as she took a look at the arena floor which had been completely destroyed now.

Now it lingered in a strange, suspended state with stones and cracks running across the battlefield floor like scars on a skin.

The steam drifted upwards in a lazy coiling motion and then the projection crystals shifted back to display Lilith who was now pointing at the champion of the tournament.

"We have our winner!!"

A/N:- Thank you so much everyone for the power stones and golden tickets. As always, I can’t thank you guys enough. You’re the best.

To bad honest, I won’t lie. It’s been pretty disappointing to see the platform avoiding to give the novel a feature like most other books.

For more than thirty days now, the novel hadn’t received a single feature and yet, no matter how hard I complain or make report of this, they keep ignoring my messages.

Oh well, I guess I have no choice but to keep writing them.

Anyways, Once again , I Thank you so much everyone and have a happy and blessed weekend.
