Chapter 43: [Chapter - 43.1] - I will do whatever I want
Chapter - 43.1
A few minutes later, Iris held the key card to Room 1002. She didn’t look back as she walked straight into the elevator.
She stepped in and let the doors close behind her.
Leaning against the mirror-covered wall, she let out a quiet breath through her nose. Her jaw was tight. The air felt heavy on her skin, and she felt the tightness in her chest. Something annoyed her, maybe everything did.
She closed her eyes as the elevator continued up and took deep breaths.
Ding!
Soon the elevator reached the 10th floor. Iris stepped out, walked down the hallway, and unlocked her room with the card as quickly as possible. In no time, The lock blinked green. She went inside, Pushed her suitcase away, and shut the door.
Then, she just stood there.
She was angry.
And under that anger, something sharp and painful twisted in her chest.
"Of course that bitch was flirting with him. It was no secret. She was always too friendly," Iris muttered.
"She even followed us here. There is no trip. No friends."
"But... they actually slept together? In that room? I was there with him a couple of hours ago?" Her voice shook, and she gave a short, bitter laugh, "They really did that to me. He really did that to me? That bastard!"
Her eyes closed tightly. She took deep breaths, trying to calm herself. Then she walked to the window, folding her arms. The city lights outside blurred as she stared.
"Why does it hurt?" she whispered, "He is not special to me. I picked him up from the road. He is just trash I can throw away anytime I want."
"Then why do I feel this way?"
The room felt too small. Her heart was racing. Everything around her felt wrong.
She needed air. She needed to get away.
She picked up her phone and called Gopal, the driver who had driven her and Lucius to the hotel. The moment he answered, she didn’t wait for him to speak.
"Come to the hotel. Now," she said sharply.
"Yes, madam," Gopal replied calmly.
Iris ended the call and threw the phone onto the bed.
"If he can do whatever he wants... Then why can’t I?" she said under her breath.

In another room, Cassey sat on her bed, smiling to herself. She had done what she came to do. She had won.
She had gotten close to Lucius— really close. And that gave her a strange sense of power.
She took a sip of wine, her smile getting wider.
"I will never forget that moment," she said softly, "His touch... How wild he was... How rough."
"But most of all..." she chuckled, "Iris’s face when she found out. That was the best part."
"But it is still not the end... Just you wait Iris. I have another surprise for you."
She laughed quietly to herself, enjoying the victory.

On the other hand, Lucius stood alone in the shower. Hot water poured over his head and down his back.
His eyes were closed.
He didn’t smile. He didn’t feel happy.
His thoughts were heavy, his heart full of regret and anger— at himself, or someone else? He did not know.
But he didn’t stop the water. He just stood there, trying to wash away everything he didn’t want to feel.

As the Range Rover arrived outside the hotel, Gopal called Iris.
"Madam, I am outside the hotel," he said.
"I am coming," Iris replied shortly, then hung up.
She didn’t change her clothes. She didn’t even take her blazer. She just slipped on her heels, picked up her phone, and walked out of the room.
Outside, Gopal stood beside the car, holding the door open for her. He gave her a friendly smile as she approached.
"Good evening, madam," he said in his usual cheerful tone.
Iris didn’t answer. She just got into the back seat and leaned against the window.
Gopal got in too and started driving. He glanced at her through the rearview mirror.
"Long day, huh?" he asked gently.
Iris didn’t respond.
"You know, when the world gets too loud, a long drive outside the city helps. The cold breeze with a cutting chai," he chuckled softly, "Match made in heaven."
But there was still no reply.
Gopal sighed but kept his tone light, "No pressure, madam. Just saying... You look like someone who could use a bit of fresh air and music— Not that sad silence."
Iris finally spoke, but her voice was cold, "Just drive."
"Of course, madam," he said, eyes back on the road, "But for what it’s worth... whoever made you this upset is not worth your silence."
There was a pause. Iris looked out the window, her jaw tight. Her eyes were dry, but they held a quiet storm.

Back at the hotel, Lucius decided to visit Iris. He knew he was in the wrong. He had to make things right. On top of that, he had a plan in action which, by having sex with Cassey he had ruined. Even if he slept with Cassey, he shouldn’t have gotten caught.
So he went downstairs without a delay.
"Can you tell me which room the lady with me, Miss Levain has moved to?" he asked, voice low but tense.
"She’s in Room 1002, sir. But—" the receptionist tried to tell him. But Lucius did not wait for her to speak. He just rushed off.
He took the elevator to the 10th floor and in no time knocked on her door.
"Iris?" he called out.
No reply.
He knocked again. Still no reply.
He tried the handle, but it was locked. His eyebrows frowned and he hurried back down to the reception.
"Her room is locked. Where is she?" he asked, frustration evident in his voice.
"Sir, I tried telling you earlier," the receptionist said, "She left the hotel about thirty minutes ago."
"Left? Was she with someone?" Lucius asked.
"No sir. She was on her own," the lady told Lucius.
"Do you know where she went? Did you guys book the cab for her?" Lucius continued to pry.
"No, sir. She didn’t tell us where she was going." The lady shook her head.
Getting nothing from the lady, Lucius looked away, running a hand through his hair. His voice lowered to a whisper.
"Where did you go, Iris?"
