My Hitman System-Chapter 158: Jump! (E)
Fifteen thousand feet above the vast sandy desert, a helicopter was zooming through the deep blue sky.
Inside, Jin and the other ten were standing in a single file and were facing the old man.
Through his headsets, he was addressing the eleven of them right now.
"Like I've said before, only seven of you will clear this test and become assassins." The old man scratched his beard and continued, "Here's how the entrance test will go: we'll have you jump down the aircraft with parachutes, and whoever reaches the ground alive wins. Easy right? It isn't. Only seven of you will be given parachutes, and for the rest? During the fall, you'll have to steal it or get smashed to death. Any questions?"
A few seconds later, a woman asked, "So who will be getting the parachutes first?"
"Do you see this list in my hand?" The old man raised a clipboard in his hand and continued, "In here, your names have been arranged rank-wise based on your performance. I'll be calling out your code names one by one, so come here and tell me your first name for confirmation, and one of my guys will pass you your parachute."
The old man then turned to the first page and called out a name.
"ZED"
Hearing his codename, Jin stepped forward, walked towards the old man and said his name, "William,"
"Alright," The old man glanced at one of his men on the side, and the man soon helped Jin with clipping the bag on his body.
"XXX,"
"Shadow,"
"Hana,"
"RED"

Like this, seven codenames were called out and everyone of the seven was given a parachute bag. Two women and five men.
As for the remaining four who didn't receive a parachute, a bitter and resentful expression was present on their faces.
'So, she also didn't get one,' Jin scoffed, seeing the woman who was second to arrive at the tent.
This attracted a murderous gaze from her, the very next moment and seeing this, Jin smiled just the way he did when he first met her.
"Alright, it will take another thirty minutes before we reach the drop site so until then I'll brief you on how to operate a parachute and how to handle your movements while in the air…
Everyone listened closely to every word that came out of the old man's mouth because it might just increase their chances of survival when the test starts.
Jin, too, was paying close attention to the instructions when suddenly a system notification popped up in front of him.

Jin was about to raise his hand and press 'yes' when he stopped himself.
'Shit, I'll have to look for an opportunity to do this later,' Jin thought and continued, 'It would be so much better if I could just think to press yes and it will upgrade,'
Just when the thought was completed in Jin's mind, the system panel changed as loads of instructions entered his mind.

Upgrade: 1000 KP (Yes/No)

'What the hell??' Jin's eyes widened from the shock. Seeing the panel, he once again thought of upgrading it, and the same thing happened.
'So... all those efforts I spent to discreetly go over my system in the public was all a waste…' Jin thought in a defeated manner while he continued to upgrade his proficiency until it reached 'A'.
'Emma said that he was very talented, but from the expression he's making, I think she might have misjudged…' The old man thought to himself as he noticed Jin's defeated expression. He kept glancing at Jin from time to time while continuing on with his instructions.
"So that's all with the instructions. If you get it, very good and if you did not, then too bad, maybe try again in your next life," The old man joked, but no one laughed at it.
Tch
He clicked his tongue seeing that and continued, "Now let me tell you the jumping sequence. The first seven with the parachutes will be going first. The rest four will go five seconds after them,"
"But won't they…" One of the men with no parachute wanted to say something but was stopped by the old man, who showed him his palm and glared at him, "This would be the first and last time, don't interrupt me ever again, understand?"
The man could only nod his head in submission.
"The seven who will be jumping first might think that they'll just have to glide far away and pull out their parachutes, and they'll survive, right? Hehe, too bad it's not that easy.
All of your bags have an automatic system in place. Only when the altitude reaches 3000 feet will the parachute open, and if you try to manually open it before that…boom!" The old man said with exhilaration, "an explosion will take place and you'll be pulverised in the air. So just tussle with those four who will be after your life until the the parachute is deployed like you are supposed to understand?"
As everyone took in the old man's words, he collected his breath and asked, "Any last doubts?"
"What if the parachute fails to open?" The woman codenamed Hana asked.
"Then you'll die. We've tested the parachutes, but if your luck's rotten, then it just can't be helped. You are free to curse our organisation as you fall to your death if that gives you some degree of solace," The old man chuckled.
One of his men soon came to him and whispered something into his ear.
"Alright, everyone. Remove your headsets" The old man clapped his hands and said, "and line up according to your ranks in front of the hatch."
They handed their headsets to the old man's subordinates and soon formed a line.
Jin was made to stand at the front of the closed hatch, and behind him stood the other ten. freёnovelkiss.com
The back hatch was soon opened, the cabin was filled with daylight and the rotor's sound became more deafening.
At the hatch's side, a man stood. Jin and the others had their eyes set on him.
The man raised his hand and, with his fingers, started the countdown.
'5…4...3...'
'This test is more exciting than I thought.' With a thrilled expression, Jin readied himself.
'…2…1!'
Jin ran down the hatch and jumped as far as possible. The other six followed after him the next moment.
