My husband Can Cultivate-Chapter 316: Cao Kun Wants to Escape!
"Pack your things immediately and leave Kang City!"
Cao Kun was scared. He found it unbelievable. Only now did he realize that Zhao Xiong and the others hadn't been warning him for nothing. This man, Yang Qi, was truly someone he couldn't afford to provoke. At the very least, not in Kang City.
Upon hearing Cao Kun's words, Song Wulin was already scared witless. He knew Cao Kun wouldn't take him along, so he slipped away quietly. He had to get back to the Shaolin Temple to find his master.
"Hurry up! What are you all dawdling for? Get your things and prepare to leave!"
Cao Kun was stronger than Barbaric Beast, but he still had no confidence in defeating Yang Qi. He was always a cautious man and wouldn't take a risk unless he was absolutely sure. Therefore, he decided he had to leave this place first. As long as he returned to Thunder City, Yang Qi couldn't do anything to him.
Cao Kun had never imagined such an outcome, and it was likely that no one else had either. To arrive in Kang City, swaggering and bent on revenge, only to end up fleeing in disgrace.
News that Cao Kun was leaving soon reached Yang Qi's ears. He sneered, "Does Cao Kun think Kang City is a place he can come and go as he pleases? He's not leaving without leaving something behind. Not a chance. Iron Bone, Iron Heart, Wolf King! Gather your men and come with me to intercept them!"
「An hour later」
Having packed their things, Cao Kun and his men were in their cars and had left the city limits, preparing to get on the highway that led straight to Thunder City.
"No one's following us, right?" Cao Kun asked.
"I haven't seen anyone yet. Yang Qi probably didn't expect us to leave so quickly," Cao Kan said, feeling aggrieved.
Barbaric Beast, Cao Gou, and Cao Wei were all left behind in Kang City. So many had died, yet here they were, forced into a humiliating retreat. His heart ached with resentment. Still, he agreed with Cao Kun's decision. If they didn't escape now, they might never get another chance. They could very well lose their lives here. Yang Qi was simply too ruthless—he and Barbaric Beast had teamed up, yet they had been beaten so miserably. It was unprecedented.
"Yang Qi! Qifei Group! Just you wait! I will have my revenge for this, sooner or later!" Cao Kun vowed. Of course, he wasn't one to let things go. He had lost face this time. If he couldn't reclaim his honor, his reputation would be utterly ruined. That was certainly not something he wished to see.
Cao Kun suddenly burst out laughing. "Hahaha!"
"What are you laughing at, Family Head?" Cao Kan asked curiously.
"I'm laughing at how Yang Qi doesn't know to pull out the weeds by the roots. If it were me, I would've definitely sent someone to watch the Cao Family's villa. The moment they discovered my escape, they would've intercepted me midway," Cao Kun said with a laugh.
"Of course, he lacks your brilliant and martial foresight, Family Head!"
This flattery was music to Cao Kun's ears.
SCREECH!
Just then, the car slammed on its brakes, nearly throwing Cao Kun from his seat. The jolt jarred Cao Kan's existing injuries, sending a sharp wave of pain through him.
"What kind of driving is that?!" Cao Kun roared.
"It's not my fault, Family Head! The road... the road is blocked up ahead!" the driver stammered, trembling with fear.
Only then did Cao Kun notice a heavy truck parked sideways across the road, completely blocking their path.
A group of people jumped down from the truck. Leading them was none other than Yang Qi.
Chewing a piece of gum, Yang Qi smiled and said, "Family Head Cao! You just arrived in Kang City, and I haven't even had the chance to show you proper hospitality. Why are you in such a hurry to leave?"
Cao Kun's expression turned ugly. It was a true slap in the face. He had just been mocking Yang Qi's foolishness for not setting an ambush, only for it to happen immediately after. What a jinxed mouth.
Cao Kun got out of the car and took a deep breath. "Yang Qi, I admit you're very strong. But if you keep pushing like this, it might end badly for both of us. Do you really want to take things that far?"
Yang Qi took out a piece of tissue and carefully wrapped his chewing gum in it before looking at Cao Kun. "I think it's very necessary. Someone came to Kang City to make trouble. If I just let you leave like this, what would others think of me?"
A savage light flashed in Cao Kun's eyes. "Since you insist on forcing my hand, then today I'll let you have a taste of my true power! It's not that I'm afraid of you. I just dislike fighting to the death!"
HUM!
As Powerful Energy condensed, an axe formed entirely from it materialized in his hand. The next moment, Cao Kun stomped fiercely on the ground and shot forward, swinging the axe violently down toward Yang Qi. The sharp Powerful Energy tore through the air, creating violent gusts of wind!
Yang Qi didn't dare be careless. Cao Kun wasn't just boasting; as a Sixth Rank Great Grandmaster, he was far stronger than Barbaric Beast. Still, Yang Qi wasn't afraid. An Alchemy Blade materialized in his hand, forming a longsword.
With no intention of dodging, Yang Qi met the attack head-on.
CLANG!
The axe and sword collided, sending sparks flying. A clear, crisp clash of metal rang out, surprisingly melodious. Logically, since both weapons were condensed from Powerful Energy, they shouldn't have made such a sound. The fact that they did only proved their Powerful Energy was so dense it had become indistinguishable from real metal.
This first exchange with Cao Kun made Yang Qi realize just how terrifying a true Sixth Rank Great Grandmaster was. His own Sixth Rank Great Grandmaster-level Combat Power, granted by the Vajra Body Refining Technique, was nothing in comparison.
After the exchange, he was forced back several steps. Pits formed in the ground where his feet landed, the result of him neutralizing the impact. In contrast, while Cao Kun also retreated, he was much more composed. He only took a single step back before instantly stabilizing himself.
Seeing this, Cao Kan breathed a sigh of relief. Yang Qi is still too inexperienced. If he had more time, his growth would be unbelievable. But right now, he's definitely not Cao Kun's match.
"Family Head, kill him! Avenge Barbaric Beast and Cao Gou!"
"Kill him!"
Several other members of the Cao Family, still in their car, began to shout excitedly, seeing that Cao Kun had the advantage.
But Cao Kun's expression was grim. Although Yang Qi wasn't as strong as he had imagined, something felt strange. He couldn't sense any Powerful Energy from Yang Qi at all. That condensed longsword wasn't made of Powerful Energy. It felt like a bizarre, almost sinister power.
He shook his head, casting the extraneous thought aside.
Cao Kun sneered at Yang Qi. "Kid, if this is all you've got, I think you'll be leaving your life behind today. Your other option is to let me go."
Although he had the upper hand, he still had an ominous premonition. Something felt deeply wrong, which was why he still wanted to leave.
"Heh." Yang Qi chuckled, shaking his slightly sore right hand. He suddenly took a deep breath.
BOOM!
Green flames erupted, enveloping his entire body and even wrapping around the longsword in his hands.
Yang Qi held the sword with both hands, settling into an offensive stance, but he didn't attack immediately.
Many people were stunned, not understanding what Yang Qi was doing. Even Cao Kan couldn't comprehend it. Only Iron Heart and the others knew what this meant—Yang Qi was preparing to fight to the death.
The Cao Family's Martial Artists, however, weren't worried in the slightest.
