Chapter 41: Chapter 41 Teaching Zhong Qiang a Lesson

"Fortunately, I’ve already broken through!" Yang Qi took a deep breath.

He had been refining elixirs and cultivating simultaneously. The elixirs were all refined and consumed, and his Cultivation had finally advanced from the Second Layer of the Qi Refining Stage to the Third Layer. However, the sudden loud noise had still injured him.

"Yang Qi, get out here! Someone’s looking for you!"

An impolite voice called out from outside. Lin Qingxuan had sent Zhong Qiang to fetch Yang Qi, but Zhong Qiang had simply kicked the door in. His attitude was extremely arrogant, and he held Yang Qi in complete contempt. He was furious. He also coveted the beautiful Lin Qingxuan but had never dared to pursue her. So what gave Yang Qi the right? His status was far beneath Zhong Qiang’s, yet he had the audacity to pursue Lin Qingxuan—and somehow, he had succeeded. Lin Qingxuan treated Yang Qi exceptionally well, which filled Zhong Qiang with both jealousy and resentment.

Yang Qi walked out of his room. As he looked at Zhong Qiang standing there, a chill flashed in his eyes.

"Someone’s here to see you. Come with me!" Zhong Qiang said haughtily, seemingly unaware of the change in Yang Qi’s demeanor.

"Apologize," Yang Qi said coolly.

"Apologize?" Zhong Qiang laughed. "Hahaha, you want me to apologize to you? Who the hell do you think you are?"

Even if Lin Qingxuan herself ordered it, he would never apologize to a nobody like Yang Qi.

"I’m giving you one more chance. Apologize," Yang Qi repeated, remaining perfectly calm.

"Kid, it looks like you’re asking for a beating!" Zhong Qiang finally snapped. He had been bottling up his anger for days. He hadn’t dared to act rashly because Lin Qingxuan was protecting Yang Qi, and he feared upsetting her. Today, however, he was thoroughly enraged.

He stomped hard on the ground, his body lunging toward Yang Qi like a cheetah.

"You refuse to apologize and even dare to attack me. Today, I’ll teach you a lesson on Qingxuan’s behalf!" Yang Qi sneered.

Before, he would have been no match for Zhong Qiang. But now? Having reached the Third Layer of the Qi Refining Stage, he had long since surpassed him.

As Zhong Qiang closed in, Yang Qi simply stood there with his hands clasped behind his back.

"Hmph, you’re just a useless piece of trash putting on airs! Today, I’ll let you have a taste of my power!"

Zhong Qiang assumed Yang Qi was frozen with fear, but he had no intention of showing mercy. His massive fist smashed fiercely toward Yang Qi’s face.

In the next moment, however, his fist stopped dead, unable to advance another inch. An invisible barrier of Qi had formed a shield around Yang Qi’s body.

BANG!

Zhong Qiang was sent flying backward, crashing to the ground with a mouthful of blood.

Yang Qi took a single step forward, yet it seemed as if he instantly appeared right in front of Zhong Qiang. He planted his foot on his chest. "Do you submit?"

"I do not submit!" Zhong Qiang roared. "If you’ve got the guts, stop using those cheap tricks and fight me for real!"

"Fine," Yang Qi replied, lifting his foot and stepping back. He beckoned with his hand. "Come on."

"DIE!" Zhong Qiang charged at him again.

This time, Yang Qi met him with a punch of his own.

BANG!

CRACK!

Their fists collided in an instant. Zhong Qiang realized his arm had been fractured. He was utterly shocked. The last time he saw Yang Qi, he wasn’t nearly this strong. Now, in a head-on clash, he had been incapacitated in a single blow.

"Do you submit?" Yang Qi asked again.

"I submit!" Terror flooded Zhong Qiang’s heart. He suddenly understood why Lin Qingxuan treated Yang Qi so well. This man was astonishing, far from the simple person he appeared to be.

"Apologize," Yang Qi commanded.

THUD!

Zhong Qiang dropped to his knees. "Mr. Yang, I was wrong. I was blind not to recognize your strength. Please forgive me! If you have any commands for me in the future, just say the word!"

He was certainly a pragmatic man. The moment he realized he was no match for his opponent and witnessed Yang Qi’s terrifying power, he immediately surrendered.

"Let’s go. Didn’t you say someone was looking for me?" Yang Qi said with a glance at Zhong Qiang.

"Yes!" Zhong Qiang led the way.

The two soon arrived in the living room.

When Lin Qingxuan saw Yang Qi, she hurried over, grabbed his hand, and made the introduction. "Yang Qi, this is Prefecture Master Lei, the Prefecture Master of Jingnan Prefecture!"

Zhong Qiang quietly retreated to tend to his injuries.

Yang Qi gave Lei Qingtian a glance. In the past, he would have been extremely cautious upon meeting such a prominent figure. But things were different now. To him, an ordinary mortal, no matter how high their station, was meaningless. He simply gave a slight nod. "Are you the patient Ye Lingyue referred?"

"How dare you! How can you show such an attitude in front of the Prefecture Master!" Lei Qingtian said nothing, but his bodyguard was furious.

"And what attitude should I have? Should I be bowing and scraping? Showing my utmost respect?" Yang Qi said coolly. "You have the situation backward. He is the one seeking my help, not the other way around. He saw me arrive and didn’t even stand up, yet I said nothing. And you dare to run your mouth?"

"Impudence! Utter impudence!" the bodyguard seethed, his face flushed with anger.

Lei Qingtian also frowned. I am the esteemed Prefecture Master of Jingnan Prefecture, and this kid, not even thirty, dares to show me such disrespect?

Lin Qingxuan smiled. "Uncle Lei, please don’t be angry. Talented people often have a bit of a temper. Besides, he’s not wrong. You’re just so used to everyone being respectful and subservient that you might find it jarring when someone isn’t. Weren’t you here for a consultation? Let’s get back on topic."

She quite admired Yang Qi’s firm, unyielding attitude.

"There’s no need. I doubt he has any real ability, just a big temper," Lei Qingtian sneered. "Coincidentally, Master Liu is returning soon. I’ll just go and see him."

It seemed Lei Qingtian was the one with the temper now.

Yang Qi chuckled. "Suit yourself. But let me offer a piece of advice: if he tells you that you have a heart problem, don’t let him treat you. It will only prove his skills are lacking. When that happens, come find me. I’ll help you, for Qingxuan’s sake."

"Hahaha, how arrogant!" Lei Qingtian boomed with laughter. "Master Liu is the most renowned practitioner of National Medicine in all of Kang City, and you dare claim his skills are lacking? That’s absurd!"

"Heh, I’ve said my piece. The choice is yours," Yang Qi said with a faint smile. "If it weren’t for Qingxuan, I wouldn’t have bothered saying anything at all."

He had already seen the root of Lei Qingtian’s problem. A hospital checkup would likely diagnose it as a cardiac issue, but that was merely a symptom. Lei Qingtian’s true ailment lay elsewhere. But since the man was unwilling to accept his help, there was no reason to meddle.

"Young man, you’ve gotten completely carried away," Lei Qingtian said harshly. "I understand you want to show off in front of Qingxuan, but to belittle Master Liu’s Medical Skills? To distrust the results from modern instruments? I don’t think you’re a doctor at all. You’re just a self-important charlatan."

"Heh, there’s no point in saying more. You can ignore my warning," Yang Qi sneered, "but don’t come looking for me when things go wrong. I’m a very busy man."

Lei Qingtian then said pointedly to Lin Qingxuan, "Miss Lin, I think that bodyguard had a point. You shouldn’t trust just anyone so casually. Otherwise, they might deceive you and bring your family to ruin."

This was a clear jab at Yang Qi, all but saying his name.
