Chapter 66: Aslan Soleil

A few hours later, the feast finally ended, and Leone went back to his wooden cottage in the underground cavern.

He recalled the fun spinning wheel game, and couldn’t help but smile after remembering the reaction of the three winners.

Two of the winners were warriors that belonged to the Black Wolf, and Riverfang Tribes.

The third winner, on the other hand, was a nine-year-old girl from the Riverfang Tribe who usually played with Fury in the barracks.

Her name was Runa, and what she chose from Daedalus list of mounts was none other than a Pig Mount!

At first, Leone thought that the nine-year-old might have made a mistake. But, Runa insisted that it wanted the Pig Mount called Great Pudge.

It was a black chubby pig that was five-feet tall. The little girl hugged it happily, and the pig seemed pleased by its new Master.

Out of curiosity, Leone asked Daedalus more about the black pig. The Grimoire informed him that the Pig wasn’t actually an ordinary Uncommon Grade Mount.

It was actually a Pseudo-Rare Mount. But, since it wasn’t considered as a true Rare Mount, it could still be exchanged with the ticket.

Daedalus then showed Leone the Great Pudge’s stats, whom Runa named as Porkchop.

————

[Porkchop]

Race: Ironhide Pig

Grade: Pseudo-Rare

Evolution Form: Great Pudge

Strength: 50

Agility: 150

Dexterity: 22

Vitality: 64

Intelligence: 11

Description: Porkchop was once an overlooked mount, dismissed due to its round body and harmless nature. However, beneath its chubby exterior lies a strange mutation that grants it explosive bursts of speed, making it far faster than its appearance suggests.

Despite its low intelligence, Porkchop possesses an instinctive battle sense, allowing it to charge through enemies like a rolling boulder. Its thick hide acts as natural armor.

It may look like a harmless, lovable pig... but once it starts running, even seasoned warriors would think twice before standing in its path. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Legends say that when the ground trembles and a loud "OINK!" echoes across the battlefield... It’s already too late to run!

————

The young man could only sigh after remembering Porkchop’s Status Page.

"Even a pig is stronger than me," Leone muttered.

Daedalus chuckled as it hovered by its Master’s side. Fortunately, the feast ended on a good note, and everyone returned to their dwellings to rest.

But, Leone didn’t have time to rest. He still had to think about Jason’s proposal earlier.

"Daedalus, what do you think I should do with Jason’s proposal?"

"That’s up to you to decide, Leone."

The young man sighed a second time before leaning on his chair. He thought that he would be fine by letting Ulric, Kael, and Jason handle the management of their respective tribes, while he just did what he wanted.

It was then when he realized that he might just be afraid to take responsibility for others, which surprised him.

"It’s so funny." Leone shook his head helplessly. "I want to be a Hero King, and yet, I can’t even handle a tribe of over two-hundred people. I’m a failure aren’t I Daedalus?"

"You are many things, Master. But a failure is not one of them," Daedalus replied firmly. "You are simply someone who has yet to accept what you’ve become."

Leone remained silent, feeling that the grimoire had more to say.

"From the moment you took your first step here in the Borderlands, your main goal is to survive," Daedalus continued. "It might have been fine if you hadn’t met me. But since you did, you no longer have the privilege of living an ordinary life.

"You must become someone who can take control of your own destiny, and not be carried by the currents of the river. Someone who can fight against the current, when no one else can, and make hard choices that ordinary men do not dare to make."

The grimoire then landed on the armrest of Leone’s chair.

"Master, if you want to become a King then you must be willing to shoulder responsibilities. Just like what your father did when he became a Viscount. But, do you know what’s funny?"

"What?"

"It’s because there are times when the people who sit on the seat of power, have no idea what they’re doing," Daedalus stated. "They just do things on the fly, doing trial and error.

"Also, Jason is right. You don’t have any faction of your own. If the Alborin Tribe, and the Riverfang Tribe leaves you, you will be all alone. What Jason wanted was to make you their chieftain, and become the first official members of the tribe that you will build here in the Borderlands.

"But, calling it a tribe is what Barbarians do. As a Hero King, you must build a kingdom. How about you start thinking about what your kingdom’s name should be first? Sometimes, a sense of belonging is what unites people together.

"It will also allow you to ground yourself," Daedalus continued, its tone gentler now, "Because it gives you something to stand on. Something worth fighting for."

Leone lowered his gaze, staring at his own hands.

A place to belong.

A name.

A kingdom.

All this time, he had been moving forward without one.

"...A name, huh," Leone muttered.

"Yes," Daedalus replied. "A banner that your people can rally behind. Something that will not change, even when everything else does."

The young man leaned back in his chair once more, closing his eyes.

He remembered the time when he thought that the Kingdom of Britannia was still a good kingdom.

He had once accompanied his father in a knight expedition where they did mock battles against the knight divisions of other kingdoms.

At that time, his father raised the banner of their viscounty and shouted "All Hail Britannia!" before charging into battle.

It made him feel something surge within him back then. Something that gave him strength because he belonged to a great kingdom, a place that was worth fighting for.

Suddenly, Leone felt something rise up from his chest.

He wanted his warriors to shout this kingdom’s name on the battlefield, informing their enemies that they were fighting against HIS kingdom, and they should be afraid because they will be fighting HIS people!

Seeing his reaction, Daedalus knew that Leone had taken another step on becoming a ruler among men.

All he needed was a slight push in the right direction, which was to give his kingdom a name.

Once he was rooted on the ground, he would be able to build a solid foundation, growing into a magnificent tree that could shelter anyone from powerful storms that would appear in their lives.

"Aslan..." Leone muttered. "This name means Lion."

His mother told him that when he was born, she wanted him to be brave and strong like a lion, so she named him Leone.

But, that name alone wasn’t enough. He wanted to be the guiding light for those who had lost their homes, lost their futures, and lost the most precious things in their lives.

A place where everyone would be able to grow to become better men, and women.

"Soleil..." Leone glanced at the lamp that was on top of the table, which lit his room, driving the darkness away.

"Daedalus, let me see the Status of our Banner," Leone ordered.

"Understood." The Grimoire opened its pages, and stopped on the page where the status of his territory can be seen.

"Daedalus, I can name my territory now, right?" Leone asked.

"Of course, Master," Daedalus replied. "Do you already have a name in mind?"

"I do." Leone nodded. "Aslan Soleil. That will be the name of my Kingdom."

A moment later, he heard the familiar notification sound inside his head.

The effects of the buffs were immediate.

Those who were within the range of Leone’s territory felt a refreshing breeze was over them, making them sigh in comfort.

Jason, who was outside and looking at the moon at that time, shifted his gaze to the cliff on the mountain.

That breeze he felt right now suddenly made his heart skip a beat.

It was as if a gear had started to turn, and this gear would allow him, and his people, to finally find a place that they could call their home.
