My Life In A Fantasy, Women-Dominated World-Chapter 121: In Front Of The Stadium
Time passed smoothly like a gentle river, slipping through the hands of Aaron and his teammates as they kept hunting their objectives for the tasks.
Staying lowkey and calm, Aaron only accumulated the kills from weaker foes or assisted his team using his reverse senses, as despite not finding any drone in sight, he had a bad feeling that he was getting watched.
His instincts sensed a ’gaze’ every once in a while, affixed on him, but whenever he turned around to check, he found nothing.
After drawing blanks for many times, he simply ignored the feeling and focused himself on hunting alongside the cohort.
However, to make it better, he was learning many useful skills and techniques as he watched them in action.
He learned how to move, kite, dodge and initiate from Claire.
How to hide, sneak attack and take advantage of the situation from Jaq.
And also how to assess the situation, providing the timely assists from Eva and Lia.
As for Katie... well, she taught him what not to do...
It wasn’t as if she was unskilled or bad, just that there was no speciality in her skills. She was very instinctive and did what she wanted, which worked in her case decently but it wasn’t any reliable solution.
Hours passed, the sun had already set and the darkness was slowly washing over the destroyed landscape.
Due to the destruction, barely any streetlights or other sources of light worked in their favour, leaving them squinting in darkness, using flashlights and the car’s headlights to navigate.
Inside Claire’s car, Aaron lounged on the passenger seat, Eva driving while Claire laid in the back, eating some high calorie protein bars and sipping on a tetrapack mixed fruit juice.
Her phone was in one hand, the car’s music system obviously connected to their allies.
"It’s getting hella dark, we have only one nocturnal beast to hunt, after which let’s return to submit our tasks and rest for tonight." Claire said calmly.
The rest of her teammates didn’t have any problem with the suggestion either since all of them were already tired, just refusing to call it a day.
As they liked to say, the grind is eternal.
Jaq’s car moved ahead, paving the way for Claire’s sedan which definitely wasn’t built to be driven on shattered roads, where huge pieces of rubble were common.
Due to its low ground clearance, every once in a while the car suffered injuries on the bottom.
Just imagining the cost of repairs made Claire’s heart bleed.
However she refused to show it, not wanting to appear like a miser in front of her lover, not that she thought he would judge her but just because her instincts didn’t allow it.
After a couple more minutes of driving, Jaq’s headlight fell over a giant clearing of a stadium.
The walls were still intact, stretching wide but the chairs and seating area was a nasty bloodbath along with remnants of monsters and destruction.
However, just as they were parking their car by the entrance, they spotted another pair of headlights coming in their direction.
It was much bigger and brighter. The colour of the vehicle and its details were difficult to make out, but judging by the design of it, Aaron guessed it to be a minibus kind of vehicle.
And indeed, his deduction turned out to be correct as a red minibus parked right in front of their cars, the twin white headlights flashing over Claire’s cohort with obnoxious light, momentarily blinding them.
On the side of the bus, a serpentine symbol was printed boldly, mouth open wide and fangs bared dangerously.
At a single glance, Aaron and the rest recognized the symbol, leaving them with their expressions flat and eyes narrowed.
However they weren’t left waiting for long, as the minibus’s door swung open, a group of 10 women walking out of the door one after the another.
Each of them wore the same uniform, the red jackets with their guild’s logo printed at the back.
One of the ladies adopted a fake ecstatic smile, moving towards Claire’s cohort, "What a pleasure to meet you here!"
She had normal brown hair that fell freely down her back, her hand outstretched towards Claire with a big smile.
Claire looked at her with an unamused expression, sighing before extending her hand towards the woman as well, but before the hands could be shaken, the Sanguini lady pulled hers back.
She scoffed coldly, running her hand through her hair, "Fuck off." she hissed.
Claire looked down at her own hand, chuckling dryly, "What else did I expect, my bad. I overestimated your emotional intelligence."
The woman said nothing, turning her head towards Aaron with an amused look on her face, "Damn, hottie, why are you wasting time with this blonde piece of trash? Don’t you know, she likes to assault other men and even cut their eyes so badly that they are permanently disabled?"
Aaron nodded with a serene smile, "I like loyal girls."
"Haah?" another woman from the Sanguini group walked forward, her face twisted into a cold grimace, "You think that’s funny? Hurting the fiance of our vice guildleader?"
Aaron turned to her and tilted his head, "But as much as I know, it was an accident. We apologized for it as well."
"Heh, if I cut off your eyes right here and then say sorry, that’s gonna be fine, right?" the woman hissed coldly.
Aaron resisted the urge to flinch at the cold threat, reminding himself many times over that he was no longer the weakling that he used to be.
But before he could even offer a remark of his own, he was shocked to see a sword appear in Claire’s hand, a cold smirk gracing her lips, "I would like to see you try, bitch.
You don’t have your execs to save your tiny little ass here."
"You think I need them to put a rabid dog in her place?" the woman growled, summoning her own weapon which was a two handed long bardiche.
It glinted under the minibus’s bright light, the blade appearing sharpened and murderous while the woman had a cruel expression on her face.
To make the matters worse, none of her teammates tried to stop her as they all summoned their own assortment of weapons.
Some had swords, some had wands and staffs, while a woman was there wearing knuckles over her fists.
"What a drag, these bloody rats just can’t give me a break!" Jaq grumbled, sweeping her eyes over the enemies and noticing they had low armour, she pulled out a pair of daggers from her waist.
She was good at wielding many kinds of weapons, but her speciality was mainly the spear and the twin daggers, along with trapping.
Katie, Eva and Lia summoned their own respective weapons as Aaron sighed, pulling out his swordstaff from his inventory.
The cheeky and childish brown haired lady gently placed her hand on the flat side of the swordstaff, shaking her head, "Don’t get involved in the lady’s fight, hottie. What do you say, we get out of here for some fun?"
Aaron looked at her, unamused as he roughly shook his weapon, making her remove the hand lest she gets cut. "It’s not just a lady’s fight when my lover and team is involved, is it?"
The woman was shocked, not expecting him to casually shake off her hand like that, as despite not putting actual force behind her, no weak man should have been able to shrug her off like that.
Her eyes narrowed and the cheeky grin was wiped off, humming with amusement, "You’re not as weak as others, hmm?"
Aaron smiled widely, "Indeed."
The intoning and mana sequence for reverse senses was at the tip of his tongue, along with the newest battle skill he unlocked, dignity of the weak.
"Aaron, you don’t need to get involved, I can solo them all." Claire’s confident voice pulled his attention, as she looked at him with a slight tinge of worry.
Aaron smiled back, "Stop underestimating me even now."
With that, he activated his skill, dignity of the weak...
It was a skill that could be kept active for an indefinite amount of time, as long as he had the mana to support the skill... And well, he wasn’t going to lack mana for a long while.
The moment his aura burst out of him, everyone around him felt the pressure increase slightly.
Of course, the pressure wasn’t as overbearing as to what those little goblins felt, but it wasn’t something that could be easily ignored either.
He had manually selected those 10 as his targets and they all were within his 20 meter range, which led them to constantly get suppressed by his skill.
All 5 of his teammates were surprised by his sudden action, but they were no newbies who were born today.
They swiftly went along with the flow, catching onto the momentum he had laid on a silver platter for them.
And without any hesitation, Claire swung a fist towards the woman that threatened to harm Aaron...
